I think you're talking about something completely normal without realizing it. Probably because it's an attempt to be more appealing to men.

Everyone shaves or trims, sweety. It's normal.

I wish you can say that to the idiots at where I live. Freakin' stereotypical people here, I'm sorry. But yeah. To be honest, never knew it was COMPLETELY normal, based on me hearing that many guys have so much "pride" to not shave at all.

Lol you're cute. How old are they or where do you live? I remember when I was about 15 when my gf was about to give me a hj I was afraid I didn't have enough pubic hair. Now I don't want any of that nasty stuff on me! lol.

I started the when I was around 17, about the time I became sexually active. If it's someone you're sexually active with, tell them. Make sure they feel insecure about it. I think ppl might be doing it sooner now though

I'm temporarily living in Michigan, Detroit because my grandfather lives there and I'm visiting (I actually live in Texas), but Detroit is the place I am talking about. MANY adults and teenagers at the neighborhood I'm at and the high school I temporarily go to are like this. Not all. Just many. I didn't think that many people in Detroit are sterotypical.

I like that they do that. Women have to shave their legs and stuff to be considered beautiful so men should have to as well.

It works though :P

One time I had a gf that shaved and everything, but the big problem was she didnt shave her anal hair. I don't know if she didn't realize or what, but I felt so disgusted about it that it made me feel insecure, every time I walked out, I'd cover my own ass just in case. Since then I always get the crack done.

So whenever the next time I see a girl that didn't shave, I'd tell them that it makes me feel really disgusted, they get so insecure about it that they make sure they're always smooth :D

It's a choice and it's up to them. Personally if someone I dated was on the hairy side, having back hair and such I wouldn't feel anything other than grateful for their effort to keep the hair away. Whether it's for his sake or mine. I try to keep myself well groomed, if he does the same it's appreciated.

There's one rather interesting thing about this...especially observing North Americans (it's harder to comment on other nations' cultural influences even if you've visited said nations).

I have to wonder how much the proliferation of pornography has influenced this growing tendency to consider pubic hair to be a negative.

In the 1980's, some women waxed, but just to remove excess. In the 1990's, the 'Brazilian' wax (among women) became well known to North Americans, but it was still uncommon enough to be remarkable when you saw something like that. By 2000, the concept of manscaping entered the English vocabulary, and now I see plenty of people who think that any pubic hair on men is 'gross.'

Cultural attitudes change constantly of course, but one undeniable change is the fact that nearly everyone has some exposure to porn (Even if unintentional), and the cinematographic demands of modern porn has lead to almost all male porn actors being completely clean-shaven.

So a lot of people at near-puberty ages are getting their first glimpses of mature male sexuality through porn, leading to the perception that fully shaved men are some kind of sexual ideal.

Even if any one person has not seen that type of image, I guarantee that many of their friends have, and when people start to talk, that image as a positive gets passed around various peer groups. Images of the ideal male genitalia have been media influenced just as much as images of the ideal female body keep changing every few years since the 1950's.

Ah well, odd to think. Maybe this is one of those 'Extended Discussion' matters...
