it started with a kiss
but ended too soon.
and the story of this
goes by this tune.

the two had met at a weekend resort
but felt they had known each other all along
the man had liked the girls clever retorts
and with one kiss, their bond grew strong

but alas, time was not on their side
the man's time taken away before the girls eyes
she wanted to run, and wanted to hide
but all she could do was utter unheard cries.

so, now she sits alone away from the crowd
all too taken aback by the fact
of what haunts her with sounds heard aloud
and slowly her heart gets attacked.

I wrote this pretty fast for someone I cared about

I look at her, she looks back at me
At once I soar from this misery
Above the clouds above it all,
It doesn’t matter if I fall,
Cause she’s there to make me fly,
Just one glance, those dark brown eyes
And I am there, once again
Up here, above it all.

I made it through the day today,
Yes another play is played
Yes another word is said,
Yes another life is lead
To where all of life just goes,
My life will spread like water's flow
And I'll spread from place to place
Teaching, hurting, laughin, loving
Searching for my saving grace
And until the day she comes along
I'll be here in present state
Just waiting for my ending fate....

here's some poem i wrote.... for fun..

Playground

The summer trees begin to weep, as the harsh winds have come
For a time the rush of waking up, of getting dressed.
Thoughts run fast through mist of the jungle bar
Surrounded by strangers, but the joy does not run far.
The knees are skinned, the arms are scrapped
But there is no care in the entire world
The pushing and the screaming enlightens
And the thrill is being there, being where you want to be.
You inhale deep breaths as you try to hold on
The breath you will soon release
You run towards the swings as fast as your legs take you
Though no one is there to race you.
Higher, higher, and higher you want to reach
The wind in your face, against your hair.
Pushing, grabbing, taking the open sky.

You get off the swing; you hear calls from a voice.
You look back at the scene,
The swings, the bars, the open plain
Will leave with no harm done.
You step forward steadily trying to stay
Time has come to leave that place
But you know when you come back again
You will need to leave again
You hear your mother’s voice once more
Time has come, time has come.

Abou Ben Adhem
by James Leigh Hunt
Abou Ben Adhem (may his tribe increase!)
Awoke one night from a deep dream of peace,
And saw, within the moonlight in his room,
Making it rich, and like a lily in bloom,
An Angel writing in a book of gold:
Exceeding peace had made Ben Adhem bold,
And to the Presence in the room he said,
“What writest thou?” The Vision raised its head,
And with a look made all of sweet accord
Answered, “The names of those who love the Lord.”
“And is mine one?” said Abou. “Nay, not so,”
Replied the Angel. Abou spoke more low,
But cheerily still; and said, “I pray thee, then,
Write me as one who loves his fellow men.”

The Angel wrote, and vanished. The next night
It came again with a great wakening light,
And showed the names whom love of God had blessed,
And, lo! Ben Adhem’s name led all the rest!

Has always been one of my favorites...nice message in it.

The bible's snake

I've seen the grotesque
the pale, the ugly
Like a frankenstein monster with
his two nails on his neck

He wears normal
t-shirts and jean, just
like you and me,
normal on the flesh and skin

No chipped tooth,
Neither a scary laugh
No missing eyeball
Everything was in place

But disturbing..
his words, his demeanor
concealed a sinister truth
that you buried deep within

concealed the venom
poisonous, deadly toxic
bitter, envy ridden,
sadistic, psychopathic venom

On your tounge as you hiss
Throwing words like a dagger
A snake whose molted skin
Is ridden with jest and laughter

You're ridden with jest and laughter
You're hidden within.
You're hidden within friendly smiles.
But i see right through you.

Moving On
I am moving on
reaching toward my hopes and dreams
It has taken me far too long
to reach this place, it seems
My fears may try to hold me back
To try and block my way
But with courage and faith in my heart
I will get there come what may
The road will be a long one,
And it may be rocky, too
But when I reach this place in time,
My dreams could all shine through
I am coming nearer to my goals
And my excitement grows
The plans I have made will soon be real
Along with the destiny I chose
Though I have been tossed and turned in life's storms
I will surely see a brighter dawn
I'm no longer held back by my fears
I'm finally....Moving On

by Alan Murray

EMO here is mine I totally wrote this

I open my eyes
I try to see but I'm blinded by the white light.
I can’t remember how
I can’t remember why
I'm lying here tonight
And I can’t STAND the pain
And I can’t make it go away
No I can’t STAND the pain

*CHORUS*
How could this happen to me
I've made my mistakes
got nowhere to run
The night goes on as I’m fading away
I'm sick of this life
I just wanna scream
How could this happen to me

Everybody’s screaming
I try to make a sound but no one hears me
I’m slipping off the edge
I’m hanging by a thread
I wanna start this over again
So I try to hold
On to a time when
Nothing mattered
And I can’t explain
What happened and I can’t erase the things that I’ve done
No I can’t

*CHORUS*
How could this happen to me
I've made my mistakes
got nowhere to run
The night goes on as I’m fading away
I’m sick of this life
I just wanna scream
How could this happen to me

I've made my mistakes
got nowhere to run
The night goes on as I’m fading away
I’m sick of this life
I just wanna scream
How could this happen to me

that sounds more like a song to me

I looked up the poetry I'd written in the past - dug it out of digital oblivion, more like - and I think I only write poetry when I'm half-emo, or more. This is the best one I found.

Walkin’ the ten centimeter wide beam
(And there’s no mat for when I fall),
Desperately tryin’ to fulfill the dream
(But I can’t ‘cause it’s not my own).

Tellin’ my story that’s memorized
(I’ve learned that there’s one right answer).
They tell me to try, but what I feel inside?
(‘Cause I’m not me it doesn’t matter.)

Raisin’ me up just to drop me down,
Sayin’ they trusted in me;
I’m just another toy for them to play.
They’ll soon get bored – you’ll see.

There’s one way to live and only one way.
(Wasn’t life supposed to be creative?)
I wanna try to step out and have my say.
(Can someone show me how?)

Scary poem coming up - this is one of the 'more-than-half-emo' ones.

tears trickle down her face
- tears of blood.
she stares out at the girl in the mirror, her twin
- yet not.
her cheeks burn, with anger?
with embarrassment?

she never knows.

the girl in the mirror laughs gaily
- a lie.

her face turns chalk white as drops of blood stain her feet,
watching the girl in the mirror.

happy. so happy.

suddenly filled with an inexplicable anger,
she touches the mirror with a bloody fingertip
- then draws her hand back,
curling it into a fist and smashes the mirror.

her hand doesn't bleed.
of course not
- she doesn't have any blood left
. . . only that which falls from her eyes.
she stares at her hand, bewildered,
then raises her eyes to the shattered mirror.

gone . . . the girl is gone.

she crumples to the floor, sobbing.
though her hand doesn't bleed,
tears of blood course down her cheeks.

the blood never stops.

I wrote a footnote, along the lines of the fact that this has something to do with the masks we all wear and how they can be so deceiving; looking in a mirror, seeing what other people see. We can only see a mask. The girl knew that all anyone knew of her was this mask – angry, she smashes the ‘mirror’ in her confusion, trying to break free of the stereotypes and make everyone realize who she really is. But even she doesn’t really know . . .
