However, I "think" the teacher just died. But there was a mention of her being a teacher in class 3 before and that seemed strange. Akazawa however would be the more obvious choice with her lost memories of kouichi. Mei is definitely not b/c of her death-seeing eye.

Click to show or hide I think it's the assistant teacher, Mikami-sensei. Kōichi's aunt from Ritsuko's side and Class 3-3's deputy homeroom teacher. She gives her nephew advice about Yomiyama Middle School through a series of "rules". One of them, is to separate their private life from their school life, thus Kōichi addresses her as Reiko at home and Ms. Mikami at school. She is revealed to be "another one" and the origin of the phenomenon that year. Originally, she drowned in 1996 when she was the homeroom teacher of Class 3-3. And also mom's funeral that made Kouichi return to that town was forgotten but his father kinda remembered it and mentioned to him on how he felt coming back after a year. And Kouichi also met Akazawa at the funeral I think.

Loved the show, but the development of Mei and Koichi's characters and connection...especially from what we saw leading up to the beach just fell flat at the end for me.
