Most romances are a fantasy of the human mind that probably never happened in real life like... average guy/girl meets drop dead gorgeous unattainable human being by a twist of fate and through unparallelled forces of script writing fall madly in love until their asshat fiance comes along and shoves a gun in their faces and they have to flee while the ship goes down but everything turns out okay in the end... sometimes but why live a fantasy when you can live in real life? If a relationship was like a drama: his ex would come back and seem like she's trying to hook up with him, his best friend would be in love with you, someone would probably get into a car accident, somebody's going to have cancer, you guys are going to break up just to get back together again because it was just a misunderstanding. There's really nothing to not love.

But comparing the anime relationship with real relationship is very unrealistic. Anime is different from the reality of what relationship really is.
