I personally don't sleep with my eyes open.
I did have a roommate in the navy once who did. His eyes didn't flutter or sag -- he slept with eyes wide open and glaring. I didn't even know such a thing was possible before that. I came in late one night and he had fallen asleep -- it scared the crap out of me.

As far as I'm aware I sleep with both eyes closed, but I have been in that state where you're just about to fall asleep and can still kind of see and hear the real world, but then you fully wake up and have no clue what just happened.
