For me, the independent loner (an I do stress the word "loner"), it's low profile day. I aviod people, I don't go on facebook, etc etc.

I just don't want to hear it, or see it, or even be asked about lovey dovey shit. It means nothing to me if I'm not with a woman. Here I am always told I'm a sweetheart, blah blah but yet I don't have a woman to show for it.

Most women today just want a "hawt" dude and not a dude who will love her for herself with all his heart.

and then they wonder where all the nice guys are.

heres a little secret girls..... THEY ARE IN THE FRIEND ZONE. WHERE YOU LEFT THEM TO ROT!!!!

uhhh ^ hahahaha no. you guys just don't have the confidence to go up and introduce yourselves to women and establish a confident presence for yourselves.

btw "avoiding people, being an independent loner" etc. is probably why you are single... not sure if you recognize the obvious here.

Seriously stop making excuses for your own faults, grow a pair and put yourselves out there. Its primal for us men to be the ones to make the first moves anyway (usually), and women (or girls in some of your cases) love confidence and when we show interest in them

Oh please. I talk to people quite often, especially women. But you don't know why I call myself "the independent loner", hell no one on this forum knows what it is. It's not just about me being alone most of the time, it applies to just about everything I like, what I listen to, what I am interested in, how I live my life, my political views, and such. You have to really know me as a person to understand what it all means.

However it is kinda true that I don't have enough confidence in myself mostly because I'm so different from everyone else. My idea of fun and going out, music, entertainment, on and on is so different from most people. For example, I don't go to bars or nightclubs, I haven't been to the movies in 3 years, the last thing I watched on TV was the super bowl (which shows you how little I watch TV at all these days), many popular references go over my head, half of the music I listen to is from video games, and so on and so on.

Yeah probably sound like excuses, but do you really think a woman will be appealed to a guy like me? So no I'm not afraid to talk to people, I just don't believe I'm appealing to most women based on who I am individually and I'm not gonna change who I am. Just as a woman wants a man to love her for her, I want a woman to love me for me.

Pretty much this. most girls that are interested in the same types of things as me either live back in Japan or are not my type on one or more levels. not that im really picky but if i keep myself in top condition im NOT going for a fat lazy ass. i can date a thicker girl as long as she can atleast keep up with me on on of my 3 mile jogs. and their is my problem. im an otaku, but i like to stay fit. never know when Z-day will hit amirite?

Being in a relationship = SEX.

Not being in a relationship = SAVE MONEY.

minus all the emotions involved, one can distill a relationship to two states: SEX & MONEY.

I'm in a relationship, but tomorrow = overtime = earn money = no sex!
Then again, neither of us is any fond of V-day, so the only chocolate I'm gonna buy is for myself!

Why do people pay so much attention to a made up love holiday o,o? if your single thats fine. If your not why should you wait for a date to show your partner you love him/her

Because it's an excuse to do something special.

If couples actually look forward to this day and find it a special day, just cause it's valentines.. that's really sad in my opinion lol. Whether you're single or not, valentines day is the most stupid.. "holiday"? wtf is it even? I'll never understand how it's a "special" day in any way >.>

I just came back from a deployment to Yokosuka and Tokyo, Japan and i can honestly tell you that you are wrong, and i think anime has really twisted yours and a lot of other's perception on real life. The scarce number of girls (you imagine to be everywhere in Japan, but aren't) that would fall head over heels for you just because you are an otaku is just plain ridiculous. And your extreme pickiness is your problem. All i see is selfish and shallow thinking on your part: "i can date a thicker girl as long as she can keep up with me on my 3 mile jogs."

^ i can see straight from that one sentence that you honestly don't care about the person or her personality, but rather her looks and whether she's up to your "standard." Love isn't one-sided, its about giving your whole self to your partner despite whatever flaws you think she may have. Enjoy being single du

You are right, because everyday a cuple is together is valentine's day. You don't need a holiday to express your love for your lover.

You took the words right out of my mouth lol. It really is true, there's no need for designated day to express your love through gifts, chocolate, a date, or w/e one might do in a relationship on valentines day, if anything it's better to be spontaneous. Or do so on a day that was special to just the two people in the relationship
