Hahaha, I remember waiting YEARS in between episodes they would dub until, and then STOP at with Dragonball Z. It was a long, long time.

Nice that the next group of consumers gets to get some exposure to it.

Funny how Mr.Popo is now a different Hue. As if anyone in this half of the millennium had any idea what 'blackface' was.

Only problems I have with Kai is some of the better filler was removed, and that they did stop with the Cell games. The whole Great Sayaman/Videl arc was one of my favorites, then the whole Buu arc fight was far more interesting to me than most anything else in the series. To tell the truth I sorta got sick of watching the whole Namekian saga because Funnimation was unable to continue at the time.
Despite the old joke "How many DBZ characters does it take to change a light bulb? One, but it takes 50 episodes to do it." I'd rather watch the original incarnation.

It makes it more humorous that Nick Toons played through Kai and are playing GT now. Ubb is one thing though, they need to go back to DB for Pilaf.

The filler doesn't really add anything to the characters, in my opinion.

But what about the remaining saga's after cell? isn't that a part of the manga too? or would you prefer watching kai till cell saga and after that picking it with up dbz?

Watch all of Kai then switch to Z for the Buu stuff.

I also agree all the filler does is drag out episodes to me like how namek too forever to blow up in dbz but in kai went straight to the point

Kai is worth watching if you haven't yet. However, DBZ will still be my go-to purely for nostalgia's sake.

if you're going by TV, oldschool Funimation and then Ocean Group dubbed DBZ all the way!~ after that if you feel like it watch it again with subtitles and see how the performances differ between the original and the two dubs and if you feel bold check out the infamous Malaysian dub.
if you're watching it online, i have nothing against DBZ or DBK but there's something called dragon ball z kai which comes on saturday mornings. the cw4kids version will turn you off against the saga entirely. apparently the nickelodeon version isn't as bad but canada gets it's own seperate nickelodeon that has to bend to the same practices as other canadian channels so it's mostly cancelled canadian kids cartoons so no DBZK, i would know nothing of that version's differences and don't have that (canadian or american version) channel anyway so it's irrelevant..

i think at least three of those cancelled cartoons were shown in the same block (the zone) on the same channel as dragonball z back in the day.

if you're going in fresh start off with dragonball, first episode right from the beginning. with classic dragonball you gotta go with japanese audio and english subtitles. the old dubs were funny but it's mostly the humor of the source material. Toriyama's a genius. i've been saying that for years.

Yeah i'll have to watch it online, I have to. cus its been almost a decade since they lest showed any form of dragonball anime in the netherlands, which is where I live. anyway, I also wanted to say that I am very disappointed that CR doesn't has any DB episodes at all. I mean DB is the father of anime as far as my knowledge goes, or at least that was the anime that made the anime genre popular all over the world, correct me if im wrong.

The specific filler would be the episode where Goku and Piccolo go get their drivers license. THAT is funny shit!
Filler 2 that I can think of now would be Cell Games, where Gohan goes up into the mountains, finds the "shelter" and meets General Tao Pai Pai, but for that one to work they would need to play DragonBall again.

Keep in mind I said "some of the better", meaning stuff I laughed me ass off to.
Yes, a good chunk of other filler was worthless power up or training crap.
Your reading comprehension levels suck if you inferred "all filler" from "some of the better".

Kai is (mostly) playing on Hulu, Funimations website or youtube channel may be playing something, otherwise Kai and GT are on Nick toons. I've found z in various forms elsewhere online, just have your security system ready if you find the wrong one.

Speaking of Funimation and FiOS, Verizon is dropping their channel on March 15th due to low viewership. Hopefully they'll go back to whoring their licenses out to nick and CN like currently.

Personally I prefer Kai in a lot of ways.
First, the action is just as good as any that the original but without most of the flashbacking or the multiple episodes powering up to buy time. Second, the animation is a little better. Not to imply Kai had a new animation but they used less of the crap animation group for the earlier episodes. In watching DBZ I noticed 3 clearly defined groups(to me) of animators. No, I don't know for certain but the visual differences are pretty clear to me. Basically, there was a Great animation group, a Middle ground one then the super crappy one. Mind you these are all imho and aren't based off of anything but that. I didn't really like the Buu series as much as the previous two so I didn't really miss it that much. I'd need to watch the series again to find some good examples of the different groups but if you look at it you'd probably notice.
Final words: Go Kai if you have the choice

Why are you even concluding such a thing? From which words that I used did I even gave you such an impression? Please try not to act as a dopefiend the next time. Insulting me with stuff that are not even making sense. Before you look at my level of comprehension, lets have a look at yours. You are talking about options to watch the show, which are nick toons, cartoon network etc. But didn't I make it clear enough that they don't air this show in my country anymore? Brilliant piece of brains you got there, grandpa!

If you look above your post, two people were commenting about the filler, I did not direct quote them, did I make it sound dick, yes. You try going to sleep on Ambien and still being awake 6 hours after taking it, knowing it gives a very bad negative reaction.
If you thought it was a comment directed at you, sorry , no it wasn't.

Honestly, I personally like DBZ better BUT i'd recommend DB Kai IF it had the Buu saga. Buu saga would have not only looked great, but been paced great if it was a part of Kai.

Like i said i like DBZ better but i'd recommend Kai if it had Buu. Since it doesn't however, i can't truly recommend Kai to anyone so i'm going to vote you watch the original DBZ.

Haha, then I'm sorry too But it's kind of usual to think that all unquoted replies are meant for the topic-starter... so that's why! anyways we're good. Besides I also wanna thank you for the good info you gave me ;)
