Depends on how many floors that I need to go up. If its a really tall building then, of course I would take an elevator. If its only a few levels I'll happily take the stairs, can help burn of lunch

I always take the stairs. Stairwells tend to smell like vomit and sweat. Kinda reminds me of home.

I like the stairs.

Yes!

If I'm in a mall or store someplace I usually take the stairs unless it's more than two or three floors.

If I'm at my folk's place it depends, some times Mom wants to take the stairs and Dad wants to take the elevator... I split the time . . . unless we're toting groceries or something, then it's always the elevator . . . they live on the 7th floor.

As far as elevator fatalities go, most are elevator service people that had to disable a safety feature to fix something.

I think you stand a better chance or being struck by lightning AND winning the lottery simultaneously than getting killed in a elevator crash.
I think the statistic is there are 2 billion trips via elevator a day and about 20 deaths a year, 70% of those are people trying to fix an elevator.
Or one death in 36,500,000,000 trips.

Now if you are a pessimist, your next trip might be the 36.5 billionth.

I use the elevator if there is one. But.. the stairs are probably more safe when I think about it.

Stairs! I hate the elevator! So small, and any time it could get stuck. Walls closing in!!! AAAAAAH!

* Plus, stairs are healthier.
