You are in for one hell of a ride. I suggest you buckle in and enjoy yourselves

I encourage you to post your thoughts, impressions and theories as the show develops

(and to you old viewers. Hush. just think of how much fun we are going to have watching all the new people get their minds all twisted.)

Well I have heard a lot of interesting things about PMMM and other pieces of the franchise since the show originally aired, so when I saw that Crunchyroll was going to get it, I was excited to finally watch it.

So far, the show has been... intriguing. I saw the second episode this morning, and liked it. One thing that stood out was Madoka's and Sayaka's serious approach to this whole contract business with Kyubey. The scene on the roof of the school was ominously foreboding in particular. I can not shake the feeling something bad is going to happen. Is this what everyone is talking about in regards to Episode 3? That was a rhetorical question.

Something else I noticed today was all of the writing on the walls of that building where Mami fought that witch and even more of it inside the actual witch's labyrinth. A question to veterans: Does this writing mean anything, is it meant to legible? Does it have any relevance to the show or is it just random creepy stuff? Can you answer this without spoilers?

Shogun144 - glad you're enjoying the show! It's fun to see new viewers' reactions.

To answer your question: yes, the writing on the walls does mean something. And yes, the writings contain at least one huge hint (which could definitely be considered a spoiler). On the other hand, fans had translated the writing/deciphered the runes by now during the original airing, so...

Episode 1
Episode 2

Please don't visit any other pages on the wiki if you don't want to risk encountering major spoilers beyond those in the writings/runes for these two episodes?

While definitely not a veteran as I'm watching this for the first time here on CR while waiting for the pre-ordered DVDs to arrive my mailbox, I noticed the writing too. Some of it is an unreadable (unless deciphered-- see below) custom-designed script.

This link seems to explain a lot: http://wiki.puella-magi.net/Deciphering_the_runes

anthyq and sushipath,

Thanks for confirming suspicions. It always makes a show more enjoyable when the animators/staff put little things like this in there. Gives it "plenty of depth to chew on" a friend of mine once phrased it.

EDIT:

Well I read over the three links you guys made for me. Very interesting indeed. I think my liking for this anime just shot up a couple of notches.

We are now past the infamous Episode 3 and the true nature of this world is starting to become apparent.

I hope that those who doubted the series are still with us at this point because this is where the roller coaster really starts

Even though I ordered the DVDs in a batch, Rightstuf apparently decided to just send me the first one anyway (though perhaps a week or two later after the actual release date), so I was able to watch up to episode 4 prior to today. With all the hype I've heard about the series, I've never doubted it, though I'm definitely now glad to have pre-ordered the DVDs "blindly," without previously seeing anything of the series.

Below are my speculations. Not really sure if they're spoilers as they're just my guesses, but just in case...

Poor Sayaka. I'm getting the feeling her story will end badly.

Good story line but I would not recommend it to people who like happy story. There really nothing happy in the whole series.

@wildboardp: Yup I watch all 12 and there only 12.

although this anime is a bit on the creepy side...all the other "Magical Girl" series never mentions a concequence for being a magical girl...i liked how kyubey requires a specific answer to get a specific request and as sad as it seems to become...im not saying anymore already too much
