anyone know how to get faster in the mile?? ive ran around 6 59 but i wanna catch up to mi teammates ..they run under 6 minutes!!

^I agree 7 mins is poor. I don't know the times for the girls but to get a better time I suggest lifting weights. You can do lunges or get some ankle weights.

I have a good training idea. I do it with my team. Divide u and ur teammates in 3 groups, have all the groups start at different times. The poeple in the back have to try to ctach up wiht the people in the front. It helped my mile by 30 seconds.

what they had us do in the army to increase our speed was 30 sec sprints...
What you do: Sprint as fast as humanly possible for 30 secs (or a regular distance, ie the sidewalk in front of your school) then walk back, then sprint it again... do this for at least thiry mins.. push yourself harder and harder... if you build up the thigh muscles, then your strangth should carry you through to achieve a faster time on your mile... When i started in the MIlitary I ran the two mile in 14:07, by doing this I got my time down to 11:43 (best time).. so it works.

I hate track. I like th 40. 4.66. The only way to get better is to improve your cardio so you can run faster without getting tired. What do you take/eat before the mile run?
