When it comes to books which type do you prefer the most, or are you into the whole digital thing?!

Personally I prefer Hardcover but I'll take paperback if there is no option!! I do like digital but that is easier to lose!

I'm kind of on the fence with this one. I love hardcovers because they're great to hold but paperbacks are easier to hold and a lot more portable when you're running around.

I am slowly moving towards digital though because of the ability to have hundreds of books in one reader the size of a paperback.

Hardcover because paperbacks bend and crease and I like to keep my books tidy. They should have hardback manga because I'm OBSESSED with keeping my manga super flat and tidy. That's why I don't lend them to anyone sowwi buy your own to ruin

I prefer hardcover over paperback for exactly the same reasons as Sakura_Weller. I quite like the weight.
That said, I HATE taking hardcovers on the road and whereas damaging a hardback feels like a cardinal sin, a paperback doesn't seem to feel so bad when it gets a bit dog-eared.
As for digital, I don't own an e-reader and refuse to read more than ~12 pages on my monitor. I'm a traditionalist for books...paper please!

In general, I buy paperbacks. It saves space--I have thousands of books--and is cheaper. When I decide a book is a favorite, then I'll upgrade to a hardcover. This ensures the book stays in the best condition possible.

I will read either hardcover or paperback but I prefer paperback since they are easier to turn pages in. As for digital reading I would like to get started with it as I continue to realize that moving my books from point A to point B is becoming more and more of a hassle as my collection increases. Of course having a book in your hands is more satisfying in my personal opinion however I wouldn't mind switchign to a nook or kindle.

i don't really like paperback books because of the curve in the cover that occurs unless i barely hold the page open...

i do own an e-reader, but i only use it for textbooks.

Paperbacks are more comfortable for me. I usually read 1000ish page novels, I don't want to feel like I'm sitting for 12 hours with an XBox in my lap.

I'm on the fence about the e-reader thing. I think they look nice, but I kind of like how simple books are to deal with.

In my last major move, my book collection (library sounds pretentious) probably accounted for about 25% of the total weight transported by the moving company.

I'm a little bit sick of physical books.

I definitely love my hardbound collection (most of it from my grandmother), and I will probably buy a hardcover for something particularly interesting (aimed at display), but for reading...I probably read about two books a week, and I have only bought one physical book (soft cover) in the past year.

I LOVE e-readers.

They're light, companies like Barnes & Noble keep a record of your ebook purchases so if the device gets wrecked you can re-download them to another device, the screens on devices made in the past 18 months or so are really good and not straining on the eyes at all (in fact you can even make the font bigger if you want), and right on the iPad next to me I have probably about 130 books on a wide variety of topics, plus 200+ manga & comic books. I can switch back and forth between books, and since I am very frequently away from home for long periods of time, I can carry my active library with me wherever I am and it weighs no more than one or two actual books.

Plus that whole thing that people say about curling up with a 'real' paper book...well with e-readers you can 'curl up' in bed with a book a lot easier, considering you don't even need a light.
