I'm prefer hardcovers, but I buy more paperbacks because they're lighter. Makes them far easier to carry about if I want to read on the train or the bus.

Well, if it's books you have to carry around in your book-bag.
:U It's a little tough because they both have their pros and cons.
The hardcover offers more protection so it will last longer but weighs more. (Cost more too.)
The paperback you have to be careful because it's delicate but can provide more portability.
The digital. :C I wish, but you have to worry about how many hours your laptop/tablet/phone will last and with laptops you would need to be sitting at a table, desk, or anything that you can place the laptop so it wouldn't fall.

Depends, hardcover has a lesser change of getting damaged, but paperback is a lot lighter. Both have their benefits, but if I had to pick one, I'd probably say paperback, mainly because it's cheaper and easier to find than hardcover (of certain books).

Paperbacks are cheaper and easier to read. (The pages are a few fractions of a second easier to turn than hardcover) I want to get into digital books

I had to think about it because I like both. As I was thinking, I turned around and looked at my book shelf. Looks like fiction is paperback and non fiction is hard cover. Dunno if this is funny to anyone else, but I laughed pretty hard at this discovery about myself.

Paperback when available and hardcover when it's not. Once they stop the obscene e-book pricing practices I'll convert, but I'm not paying $10 for a digital file that took almost nothing to distribute. In fact most authors are disgusted with the way e-books are priced right now. The ones that aren't greedy bastards anyway...

Plus the feel of a well worn paperback in your hands is just awesome. Maybe it's my nostalgia for reading books all weekend as a kid, but I prefer a paperback I can read over and over and doesn't hog my bookshelf space.... The smell is different than hardbacks as well. Take that sentiment however you want. I like the smell of a old paperback...

new books, old books. they all smell good. if smelling books is weird, then so be it.

this is a weird fascination but i like to see the pages of books turn yellow. it just feels.. how should i put it.. aged perhaps? something along that line;
