Either paper or hardback is good for me but i definitely don't like reading on a screen. The convenience of carrying around 300 books, movies and whatnot where ever i go just doesn't appeal to me. Needing a lamp to read by is not a concern for me and I never have to think about battery life with a real book. Plus they don't feel right compared to a real book because I'm so attached to the sensory experience of a book. When i curl up with a book i want to feel the paper in my hands and hear the pages rustle.

Why does everyone use the phrase 'curl up with a book.'
Won't anyone just say, "e readers are really not that great for reading on the toilet?"

I'm not fussed usually, if it's a story I'll enjoy, then I'll read it, regardless of it's format

Paperback. I don't collect books so I don't care about getting the highest quality version. Paperbacks are cheaper and easier to carry around, although portability is less of a concern now that I drive everywhere rather than use mass transit.

As long as it's on paper I'm good. I hate reading on those e-reader things

I prefer the hard cover.
Its more sturdy and not bendable as paperback can be @_@'
And when the hardcover has that annoying sleeve over it, I take it off =3

Paperback. Easier to handle and I won't care as much if it gets damaged, unless it's a newer series that came out as first edition. Like my VA series. I let someone borrow the first one and apparently a Gatorade bottle leaked in her bag and ruined it. But since the series became more popular it's switched over to hardback ._.

Ebook > paperback > hardcover
I'm not a fan of those jackets on the hardcover books. I always have an urge to take them off before I start reading.

I prefer hardcover for looks and durability. I prefer paperback when I have a lot of books to carry. I prefer electronic books when possible (as long as it is not online.)

I enjoy both hardcover and paperback. Given the choice; I think I'd choose Hardcover. Then again, my book collection is already rather ridiculous and paperbacks are easier to travel with. So I'd say at home Hardcover, Travel paperback.
However lately I've gotten an E Reader. It's saved me a lot of money on those new releases that cost 20-30 Hardcover normally, but you can download it for like 12.99. If I like a book enough, then I'll go to the story and buy a non-digital copy, but the E Reader is just a bit easier to travel around with, especially if you can finish a book in a day so tend to bring like 5 paperbacks on one trip. This way it saves on luggage space.

I like paperbacks since I like lying on my back to read, plus it'd be lighter to carry around. But it doesn't really matter to me, unless the jacket of a hardcover is falling off.

Hardcover. The paper ones rip easily for me.
