Religion has its place, teaching kindness and morals and such. However, many of the biggest and bloodiest conflicts are more or less caused by it, for example the entire middle eastern mess for the last 1000+ years. I consider myself to be a christian, but only very very loosely. The bible and other religious texts were written by man not a deity, regardless of what people say about inspiration and what not. People would of never recorded all events accurately unless it benefited them, and even if they did, their interpretations of current events are inaccurate at best. Also stories, even ones based on true events, tend to be embellished and altered over time.

Reality is, that regardless of what religion people are or aren't, people need to stop with the blind faith crap. That blind faith gets people in alot of trouble, without it most terrorist organizations wouldn't even exist. Also, to make a point of this. Ask someone to kill 4 people and he will think your nuts and probably call the cops. Tell them god needs those people killed, and he goes and kills them without a second thought. This is an extreme example for some and not so much for others, but this kind of thing is a severe lack of common sense due to idiots having faith and abandoning all common sense as a result.

Would solve many problems if people stopped to think once in awhile. Anyways end pointless rant for now, got new One piece to watch.

Personally, I dont care for religion. Or more specifically, organized religion.

But really, each to their own. Im cool with you as long as youre not shoving your beliefs down my throat. Ill come to my spiritual awakening when its time, and on my own terms. Dont try and Fire and Brimstone me, it just adds fuel to the fire that all religions are closed minded (general statement, I know thats not true, but I feel that way from time to time)

Interesting subject in general, but I don't really care.

I think science and God can go hand in hand, I mean since God is truth science shouldn't be a threat to God, or His believers.

Any religion or supernatural, mystical belief is based on 'Faith'. Faith is not "truth", it is faith (as in hope or belief without a shred of evidence). Even my devout catholic friend, (he is a scholar as well), admitted this (I am an atheist in the science industry, by the way). You could say however, that it is "your truth". Personally I don't care what anyone chooses to 'believe'. If you stay out of our science labs and leave women alone, I'll even support you.

As stated before in this thread I think religion is fine as long as it is not shoved down my throat. I will say this.

I can't tell which is more annoying, fundamentalist religious people or Atheists who take a stab at Christians every chance they get.

Tax all religions, and spend the money on Science.

Religion has a great idea of hope and forgiveness...
But there is a peice missing...
How can u treat something that is imperfecr because it isnrun by people like it is...
After all the road to hell is paved by good intentions...
Hope without the will to make those hopes a reality is useless...
So many people blindly follow...
I can't believe in it...I think people follow religion the wrong way...

There's good things in every religion.
But following the people saying they know what the religion is is like being blind and see a movie.
Read the books of more than one religion, compare to when the books was written, by who it was written, by how it may have been altered, by the need when written. Then think and take the good and meaningfull things and live after that.
God/s is/are nothing but a piece of our minds

I don't mind religion. It's the people that boast about it that annoy me. They go around throwing out bs and shoving it in your face and/or down your throat. It makes me want to get physically violent with people and I'm not that kind of person.

For instance, I had sex with an ex-bf, my mother (who was not baptized as Mormon at the time) was perfectly fine with it. One summer I go visit a gay friend in California for a week (brought on by family turmoil). I come home and my mother instantly jumps on my case and calls me a whore (after she has been baptized Mormon). She was lucky I held my tongue and fist back.

At the time she and I lived her boyfriend-now-husband. Even though she was now considered Mormon, she still slept in the same room and did x-rated things with said spouse before they were married. So it was hypocritical for to call her daughter a whore when she herself would be defined as one.

I don't like being around religious people because I feel like I have to walk on egg shells. I can't be my normal, bad humored, bluntly honest self around them. It's the same with politics. I can't stand the strictly conservative because they always use the excuse 'God said so' or 'the Bible says'. It just makes me want to pop them in the head and tell them to think for themselves. Go with one year without stepping foot in a church or reading the Bible and actually think about the world around you. You may actually become a better person on your own.
