While I admit to skim reading the Fairy Tail manga chapters, something I am suspecting of the series compared to Mashima's Rave series when watching the anime: In Rave, Haru is smarter than Elie but the situation seems reversed in Fairy Tail.

Please freely explain whether you agree or disagree.

people dont give natsu enough credit he was able to completely empty his magical power to beat zancrow natsu`s behavior just makes him look dumb and lucy using common sense makes her appear smarter than him but natsu is the kind of person who jumps right into a fight were lucy wouldn't i think lucy`s smarts come in common sense natsu`s smarts are in a battle he can think strategically however natsu never thinks of consciousnesses this is shown when he eats laxus`s lightning and when he ate etherion he had a bad side effect.

yes lucy is smarter than natsu, not just in common sense but everything.

natsu just have battle instinct is what it is.
for you to be consider intellectual, you have to process data yourself. not your brain/body telling you what to do.

I would say overall they are pretty even but in certain areas one is smarter than the other, for example Natsu isn't that good enough as in fighting strategy while for Lucy it has shown one or twice that she thinks that stuff through properly but for me Natsu does have his moments of genius in making every one else to think about the big picture, the best example I can think at the minute is at the end of the tower of haven arc where he saves Erza. Also Natsu is alot smarter during a battle and the way he adapts, you could say that Natsu thinks with his emotions more than anything else.

Lucy easily has more book smarts than Natsu EVER will but he's definitely got more combat sense than she ever will too. How smart can he be if he willingly gets onto something that makes him paralyzingly ill every time. Wendy isn't going to be there all the time and troia seems to have diminishing returns so it can't be recast often. I think at this point I'd be working out some kind of system with Happy or something to just fly where he wants to go. Between Happy's wings and Natsu's fire they should be able to make good time to just about anywhere.

I don't really consider either of them to be very bright. But if they do have intelligence, then they have different types of intelligence. I don't think they can be compared.

Natsu is a very clever fellow quick on his feet. Lucy is just average.
