All of the misspellings and grammar errors irritate me, lol. Often I try to correct people without being mean. And I'm not the best at grammar, myself, but the spelling really gets me.

Depends on who you write to. If I have friends who wrote me letters I don't pay attention to grammar. But at a profesional standpoint I expect correct grammar.

Surprisingly, even though I am an English major, grammar does not bother me, as long as I can still understand what the person is trying to convey. Maybe because of my major I am understanding how hard it is to be grammatically correct all the time. I do like correcting my mom when she uses "good" to describe a verb instead of "well," since it frustrates her.

Somewhat.
However, I make a lot of grammar mistakes, too, so it does not bother me that much.

No, not as long as I understand the message. Because I know that for a large group of people on the Internet English might not be their first language.
I'm not the greatest speller in the world, quite frankly I'm rather mediocre, and that's why I have spellcheck.

What does get to me are:
* i instead of I
* Beginning a sentence with a small letter. Capital letter at the beginning of a sentence people!

There = a place
Their = ownership
They're = abbreviation of They are
Please learn these, on the grounds that it's not that fucking hard.

No because I'm online and I don't expect people to have to use proper grammar online, It's pretty selfish to want people to do it to.

I dislike "ghetto" writing styles.
But only on one site do I act like a grammar nazi.
Cause its really funny to watch them get mad when I correct them.
Posted 10/17/12
just aol speak

i'm not a nazi but i have limits

i don't care about capitalization much either

While it's true that it's possible to understand what a person means despite the presence of grammar errors, it is, quite frankly, annoying as hell once it reaches a certain extent. Having to figure out what a sentence means while correcting errors in order to understand the sentence slows people down and makes them work harder because you don't want to do your part properly, sort of like a mental bump in the road. There IS a proper way to write and people SHOULD make some effort to get as close to the standard conventions of the language as possible. I compare it to driving. You don't needlessly brake and pull retarded maneuvers if you have any sort of respect for other drivers on the road.

Nothing annoys me quite as much as when people use apostrophes to indicate plurality. I'll overlook it if it's just once or twice, but if they are doing it with every word that ends in 's' I will notice and start to care. There's really no excuse for that. It is a basic rule of the language, something we all learned in elementary school.

Trees =/= Tree's
CDs =/= CD's
Ones =/= One's
etc.

If you want to make it plural, DON'T TACK ON AN ADDITIONAL APOSTROPHE. Thank you.
