Just another little poll by yours truly.

I like mine medium-well, with no or little pink. I just have never been a fan of rare steak. It makes me feel like i'm eating blood.

I want my steaks rare to medium rare.

I don't eat burgers. They're made of mince meat, I don't eat mince meat you never know what's in it.

I used to like rare . . . not so much anymore.
Steak . . . medium rare, it digests better...
Burgers I like medium to med-well . . . no telling if they're made of pink slime or not.

For burgers (ground meat), I'd insist on medium or more. However, for steaks, it's definitely rare for me-- "raw, and wriggling!" Nothing ruins a good cut of beef like overcooking it. Given how much good steak can cost, it's a shame in my mind to reduce it to hockey-puck consistency. Well, on second thought, not completely raw for steaks. I had actual steak tartare in a Paris restaurant last year, and that was completely raw (though marinated). It was not bad at all, in fact, but I missed the slight char taste as well as the change in texture that a little broiling or fire introduces into the meat.

I have to have it well done, I'd rather not risk things when eating.

For steaks, it's gotta be medium-rare, and for homemade burgers the same. Eating out for burgers, though most places nowadays won't even let you go lower than medium anyway, but that's an ok doneness for them.
