No. Perhaps to get the feeling of being married.
But I don't think they're that dumb to get married for one special day.

LOL. If I ever decide to get married, I'd be doing it for my husband, because I see no proved point for it. The wedding day will be me proclaiming the love he should already know I have for him. Other than that, to me, it's one huge party.

I think guyz and girls are more concerned with how something looks..like a wedding looks like things are going well...but thats really just on the surface...
Somewhere along the line...people just atopped looking into things and just go by appearance.
I vote for marriage for financial stability.

Yeah, my hubby and I got hitched at the courthouse as well; did it during a mid-tour leave of my time being stationed in Korea. We did it so we wouldn't be separated by him being on the northwest, and me on the east coast. And where was our 'reception'? The Golden Coral! After 20 days, I went back to finish my time there...man, that was hard!

Um, back on topic....

Yes, it seems women do seem to get over-obsessed about the perfect wedding. And if she doesn't her mother will for her. And there's lots of big industries out there JUST for making a wedding as big and grandiose as possible.

Now, as to whether MORE girls are going crazy over the wedding than ever, I can't say. Weddings are generally a big deal in most cultures, and involve very expensive and elaborate customs. And the wealthier people are, the more crazy they can make it.

Actually, my mom wanted to have a super-simple wedding, but her mother forced them to have at least a reception and more than 30 guests. I know I'd want something really basic, should I ever get married myself.

My husband and I wanted to keep it simple, since I literally had 20 days to get hitched and get back to Korea. My M-I-L asked if we were having a wedding once I got back to the US; 'No,' he told his mom, 'this is it.' But good thing we didn't, cause the church he went to, the rules they had:

Both must be a member of the church (his, Word of Faith)

The couple must go thru a YEAR of marriage counseling, complete with a budgeting class

Both must have background checks done, andalso get their credit score looked at; if either one has outstanding debts, they won't marry you.

Once you go thru ALL THAT, and all goes well, THEN you can get married!

Too much damn trouble, and my hubby knew it, and since he was stationed in MT, that's where we got hitched! And we're just as fine, 10 years later, without the church wedding!

When we got married, my husband made most of the arrangements, as I had a full time job, and he was just a part timer.
We just wanted a big party with all our friends, so that's all we planned.

Um I don't think all girls are like that, I for one absolutely do NOT want a big wedding day, or any for that matter.

I would marry for other things, unless I love the guy
