I felt this article was highly insightful and touch on various critical points we as human need to address
It may be long buts its worth the read (though i highly doubt 90% of people here will) http://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2012/03/were-underestimating-the-risk-of-human-extinction/253821/ |

True but the risks are there and if we ignore them they may only get worse till that "could someday" might turn into "indefinite possibility" If youre gonna troll people try harder sweetheart <3 |

Very interesting, but it would be much better if the writer was better. I've seen more entertaining articles of bland topics in a typical tabloid.
There's nothing to worry about presently or in the near future anyways, I don't think. |

I skimmed the article and this is an old idea.
To paraphrase Lincoln and take ol' Abe out of context, "If destruction be our lot, it will be by suicide." In fact I think Bruce Willis was in one of the more interesting movies about this very subject, well, kind of . . .12 Monkeys . . . Or there's always, Terminator.... The techno killer, we make our cool shit too smart. And I remember PBS had a show on called "After the Warming" about what's gonna get us due to climate change. I think Frank Herbert mentioned in one of the "Dune" books that earth was no longer there and that's supposed to happen ten thousand years from now or something like that. If we underestimate human extinction it's because we've heard all before or we know that unless politics changes, we can't do anything about it anyway. I almost forgot . . . one of my favorite anime . . . "Elfen Lied" The new human, that will kill us all, if we piss her off. |

"Its the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine" (REM)
maybe the end will be tomorrow, this year, or maybe a million years from now. how are we truely suppost to know when all we have is fearmongering fakes telling twisted out of context facts/lies just for profit of monitary and/or emotional gain. when we will never know exactly when, where, or how it will happen. |
