women also cheat (ex. my mom), but it could be a lot of things lack of sex, lack of emotional support (some women can pick up on that and use it to seduce the man), not supportive in general, and a million other reasons.

I have experience being cheated on and have, shamefully, cheated on someone I cared about. It's all about the situation and who you're with. You're not a horrible person if you do, but you are being extremely disrespectful to the person you are supposed to be committed. If anything, it's a wake up call for you or your spouse to split. It's not something someone would menacingly think up, like, "oh i'm gonna cheat now because that would be a horrible thing to do and I'm a bad person." It happens in the heat of the moment; you'll never see it coming. Although, I don't think it's ever a good thing to do, nothing good will come of it.
If that is really your reason, then it's a shit one. The only situation where this would be excused is if a gun was held to your head and you were with a rapist, not because you were horny and it was "in the heat of the moment". If that was the case then every time a person cheats, they would be excused. You obviously were not threaten with a gun so your reason sucks major balls

"oh I cheated on you, I don't think I'm right for you" is a douche bag move for finally realizing you both don't belong with each other. You obviously don't care about your partner if you were willing to betray your loyalty for a one night swing. Basically your five second jizz was worth more then your months time you've spent with your partner. If you can easily let go of something like this, even if the person was not right for you, how do you expect your future partner to have any trust in you

Yes, you are a horrible person, quit being in denial

You are a very judging person. I'm not in denial that it was a horrible thing to do, but you also don't know jack about me or my previous partner. Currently I'm with someone who I will never cheat on and I've grown up a lot since that ONE mess of a relationship. Cheating is never excusable and I wasn't looking to excuse it. My point was that someone should not be condemned for their entire life for one horrible mistake; some people actually learn from experience and choose not to repeat mistakes. That is all.

It's a biological imperative for both males and females.

I think I should point out that this isn't an opinion. There is significant evidence that females from every branch of the mammalian family have always sought out multiple mating partners when they go into heat. Humans are no different, that's why 75% of male sperm consists of non-swimmers which take on the role of blockers and netters with multiple corkscrew shaped tails whose only purpose is to fight off, or stalemate other men's sperm. This mammalian trait is actually far more prevalent and pronounced within our primate family than any other branch, meaning our females have historically been far more promiscuous than any negative, or demeaning cultural stereotype has ever suggested, or insinuated.

The real question is why is it that humans alone have been gifted with awareness, and yet by majority we all collectively seem to enjoy rejecting the notion that we're animals? Is it so important that we all be made out of magical fairy dust invented by god? What's so wrong with being made out of meat? Is it just that it isn't a very romantic notion? Or is it that we simply can't stand the idea that our inner voice isn't the only conscious part of our minds?

I think that's the biggest issue, the psychological one. Accepting that we're animals rams home the message that the majority of all human thought is subconscious and every single last one of our passions and the root of all our desires is outside of our conscious control. After all, even the layman can't deny the fact that all of our emotions stem from a place of darkness which even the strongest lights fail to illuminate. Our neurological design isn't built in such a way that we can ignore our true desires, we can neither ignore them, or change them, alter them, or rewrite them. We are at the mercy of our own minds and though many speak of enlightenment, true enlightenment is beyond our grasp. We can't choose what we really want, we can only deny it and pretend to exercise the power of conscious choice. We put on serious faces and wear fake smiles, but all the while our minds scream at us like lunatics locked in padded cells.

The point is that you should have broken up before you cheated. You don't just cheat and then go, "o ya....wake up call we shouldn't be together." That just makes you a dick. And the thing about how someone shouldn't be condemned their entire life for one horrible thing is just BS. It's like if I said that right after I got through raping and killing your family. Am I comparing cheat to raping and killing? No. All I am saying is that cheat is a big screw up and don't expected to be forgiven just because it was one time. You might as well being taking a crap on your partners face when you cheat.

It usually has little to do with love, or looks, or even lack of sex within the committed relationship. It all boils down to one thing: Novelty.

Yeah, because Buddhist monks would never lie about anything.

Charlatans who claim they can levitate aren't lying about it. They really can.

Must be why they don't buy airline tickets when they travel, they just float across the ocean, so they can lie to people in other countries.
