It's either way. Speaking in general, it could be cases as one partner is withholding sex, or they don't feel attracted to the other. Temptation is a trigger.

I have experience being cheated on and have, shamefully, cheated on someone I cared about. It's all about the situation and who you're with. You're not a horrible person if you do, but you are being extremely disrespectful to the person you are supposed to be committed. If anything, it's a wake up call for you or your spouse to split. It's not something someone would menacingly think up, like, "oh i'm gonna cheat now because that would be a horrible thing to do and I'm a bad person." It happens in the heat of the moment; you'll never see it coming. Although, I don't think it's ever a good thing to do, nothing good will come of it.
If that is really your reason, then it's a shit one. The only situation where this would be excused is if a gun was held to your head and you were with a rapist, not because you were horny and it was "in the heat of the moment". If that was the case then every time a person cheats, they would be excused. You obviously were not threaten with a gun so your reason sucks major balls

"oh I cheated on you, I don't think I'm right for you" is a douche bag move for finally realizing you both don't belong with each other. You obviously don't care about your partner if you were willing to betray your loyalty for a one night swing. Basically your five second jizz was worth more then your months time you've spent with your partner. If you can easily let go of something like this, even if the person was not right for you, how do you expect your future partner to have any trust in you

Yes, you are a horrible person, quit being in denial

You are a very judging person. I'm not in denial that it was a horrible thing to do, but you also don't know jack about me or my previous partner. Currently I'm with someone who I will never cheat on and I've grown up a lot since that ONE mess of a relationship. Cheating is never excusable and I wasn't looking to excuse it. My point was that someone should not be condemned for their entire life for one horrible mistake; some people actually learn from experience and choose not to repeat mistakes. That is all.

The point is that you should have broken up before you cheated. You don't just cheat and then go, "o ya....wake up call we shouldn't be together." That just makes you a dick. And the thing about how someone shouldn't be condemned their entire life for one horrible thing is just BS. It's like if I said that right after I got through raping and killing your family. Am I comparing cheat to raping and killing? No. All I am saying is that cheat is a big screw up and don't expected to be forgiven just because it was one time. You might as well being taking a crap on your partners face when you cheat.

Really? Once again, you do NOT know the story holy shit. I was cheated on by someone I care about, then down the road I cheated on that same person like an idiot; that's the SHORT story. Now we are both great friends. I am not excusing anything, yet you zealots seems to make it your mission to condemn me for something you don't understand. Which is worse? making a mistake then owning up to it and having enough gall to pitch your own personal experience on a forum, or wasting enough time and energy spewing some misinformed hate message to someone you do not even know. Stop acting like a bully and get over it. All I did was post my friendly opinion. Oh and to the person who said it was "months of my time spent with the person" it was 4 years to be precise.

Yeah, because Buddhist monks would never lie about anything.

Charlatans who claim they can levitate aren't lying about it. They really can.

Must be why they don't buy airline tickets when they travel, they just float across the ocean, so they can lie to people in other countries.

lol I just imagined a Buddhist monk sitting down and meditating thinking............."tits." Sorry, it may just be me but I don't see a monk deciding whether or not he should go cheat on his wife when his whole meaning of life is to live in harmony with life. Also the thing about how we can't ignore, change, alter(which is redundant) , or rewrite our desires is bs. The human desire is always changing and always being rewritten to fit our circumstances. Something someone once hated can become their greatest desire after it grows on that person. And something someone once loved can become hated as they get tired of it; which is one of the reasons why people cheat. The simple reason why people don't go around screwing each other whenever they feel a little hot is because of one thing mainly.Love. It's why 2 people stay together and try not to cheat because it hurts when someone does. The idea that no one is really happy and we have no conscious choices is also bs.Only people who have serious issues dealing with their desires are controlled by their subconscious. People who think it's normal that they are selfish because it's in human nature to act this way because they are just animals. It's all just nonsensical excuses for a person who is too selfish to even being to understand the concept of caring for the person you are supposed to love. If you don't love a person enough to keep your dick out of another person then you shouldn't be together in the first place which would defeat the "cheating" part.

Yes, but men do it more often.

Is there some scoreboard for the planet somewhere that shows the # of women vs men who cheat?
If not, I highly doubt you can prove this.

Bottom line is, if you got cheated on, drop the person and move on.

Your opinion on their abilities has no bearing on their actual abilities. No human can truly rewrite their root desires. Neurologically our amygdala hippocampus system is setup at the base of our brains, giving them the power to hijack our higher brain functions. In other words, your neocortex is last in line in the decision making process and has no ability to trump your emotional system -- on a physical level.

It's not just simply that it's really hard to control one's emotions, it's not just that it would take lots of time and effort, it's that you don't even have the option to do so. As I said originally, you can force yourself not to go along with what your root desires demand, you can resist your own emotions with will power, but that is not the same thing as being able to reprogram yourself.

If you're the type who likes girls, then you don't have the power of choice to enjoy something else. Sure you can force yourself, you can say "tonight I'm going to find a big, fat, hairy, Greek man and sleep with him." You can even then go and do it, but you can't force yourself to enjoy it. You don't actually have that kind of control. Why? Because our higher brain functions evolved last. The human brain stem evolved first, it's called our reptilian brain for a reason, it's because we're not the only animals which have it. Our neocortex on the other hand is extremely rare, that big donut sitting on top of your reptilian brain is what gives you conscious awareness of yourself. It's what allows you to surf the web, but it's not the center of our emotions -- so we can't exercise conscious control over them. As I keep trying to explain, it just leads to an internal battle. That's NOT the power of control, that's a never ending war with yourself.

Everyone has their reasons. It could be because the guy doesn't find the woman he's with attractive anymore. or she's not sleeping with him, or they do it because they're not supposed to. there's all sorts of possibilities. just as hard of a question is why not just break up with the first girl before sleeping with another?
