That's just a huge part in Gintama. I personally love how Shinpachi gets ignored by everyone while trying to get answers. I think Gintama is the perfect Anime, but hey, everyone has their own taste. I lvoe how at one time it's got the best and most epic arc of all, and then goes straight back to the jokes, and suddenly throw in a really sad part.

And I think there's one real reason why Shinpachi does this other than being funny, Shinpachi is supposed to be the character in which we can identify ourselves, and we should be asking ourselves those questions as normal people.

There's nothing that can change my mind, Gintama is the best.

Its not that I can't stand it... I just choose not to watch it. I don't want to sit there and watch like 300 episodes of it because its waaaayyyy to random for me... I like set story lines and shit, so it actually reads like a book

Shinpachi is the reason I stopped watching so I guess it would be yes. A little is all well and good but if it gets to the point where it doesn't do anything but literally give you a headache then it's not worth it anymore.

Can't believe some people actually stopped watching Gintama just because of Shinpachi. To me he's the voice of reason and the balance in a universe full of bigger-than-life, over the top crazy loonies.

I 100% disagree with what you just said. Shinpachi says all of the things I am thinking about or having problems with. He is the logical mind in an increasingly random and chaotic world. I LOVE it.

Edit - anyone else find this topic hilarious considering the recent episode? You know what Kagura said about Shinpachi?

Yeah, Shinpachi needs to be there. He helps make some of the jokes effective.

The whole clown and straight man gag is pretty common in a lot of anime, not just Gintama. It's used a lot in Japanese comedy, I mean you can find it in pretty much any comedy anime. It's a cultural thing.

And I like Shinpachi, his firm logic contrasts the others well and helps them stand out more.
