Yes, I do. I vastly prefer to pay for something that I can physically destroy until it won't play anymore versus the ephemeral elasticity of a simple deletion.

I like collecting things, so I love getting DVDs. Plus I love how it all looks on a shelf, my beautiful collection. I only get the ones I really love though. I get them either inexpensive or used at Hastings and Amazon.

But sometimes I see a series I've only seen a few episodes of and purchase it if it's a good value or I like the manga. I still have yet to see Peach Girl anime despite it being one of my favorite mangas, but I I like having it in my collection.

Me too. If I really like a series it ends up on my shelf sooner or later. There is something satifying about owning it if you really enjoyed it.

I don't particularly like relying on digital copies for my favorites. I've had several computers die on me over the years with entire anime series stored on them, so I don't find it very reliable.

Yes, I could store them on an external source, but that involves me actually remembering to sit down and back them up it. Procrastination is one of my best skills, lol.

well like i say its pretty grim over here only very popular titles can be bought here in store's like dragonball z naruto bleach and funny enough i haven't seen one piece anywhere yet and you can get pokemon almost everywhere but i don't want to count that one ass an anime
and then you have some unknown titles like ghost in the shell and the big o that i found in a video library and thats about it
it can be that i have never found a good store where they sell anime but thats because they are very unknown if they even exist the best shop fore new games and animes that i know is future zone but like i said those have mostly things like dragon ball z thats about all i can tell you about how it is here in holland and last thing i can buy things online but it usually comes with very high transport cost so i cant do that

So shipping cost is the big problem. I thought interstate shipping among EU would be cheap. Or are you buying them outside of EU?

How about anime or comic conventions in Netherlands? Do they sell DVDs at decent price?

well conventions and such we do have but doesn't get advertised so i will never know it until it's to late and the conventions here are more for cosplayers so i don't know if you can even buy dvd and things there and as for the shipping cost in the EU is still not very cheap but still if my memory serves me right still between 5 to 15 max give or take witch is a little better than ordering it from japan or the us cause that can go up to 25 euro if i am not mistaken and next to that the rest of Europe doesn't have that much bigger of a anime market than Holland so i have to order it from far if i want to have anything decent witch is cause of shipping cost and the dvd price combined is expensive for some one like me who only haves 120 euro of free spending money so thats my problem

I still buy DVDs, I like to relax on the couch and watch my anime. Also I'm not the only person who uses the computer at home so having the DVDs is a must since I can watch anime while my family members use the computer. I have more DVDs than manga or VHS, I still have VHS recordings of anime that aired on Toonami, mostly DBZ

Currently I have over 100 DVDs (I need to do an inventory list these days), I have opted for boxsets instead of singles because they save space and my mom's been bugging me of getting rid of some anime because of space issues. I will forgo singles, but only if there's a boxset version of it.

Here's my list of items I have http://www.kaboodle.com/trunkschan90/things-i-have.html

I love to stream anime since not all the anime have DVD releases like Chihayafuru and Saint Seiya: Lost Canvas.

Anime on DVD that I bought... hmm, well just off the top of my head here's a list of titles I own. There are more but I don't really want to go digging around in the my collection to see what I missed. To be honest I think my manga collection is a bit more extensive then my anime collection. Although I love boxsets I have to say thank goodness for thinpaks, I would run out of room in my tiny apartment way too quickly otherwise.

I would if I had the money because I really do prefer to buy them physically and watch them on a television, but anime DVD's are usually really expensive, especially because they are imported, and I always get nervous about them getting wrecked, scratched, stolen ect. I occasionally buy them if I have the money, but since it's usually like $50 for half a season, it is way too much for me to buy on a regular basis.

You don't have to buy titles that you're going to watch one time. My collection grew over the years. Too bad that you're still too young to find a part-time job. I would recommend that you should mark a title that you're going to watch dozen times and special to you. Once you find a job, save your earning for that special anime title which you'll treasure. That's how I started my collection with Macross Plus.

For time being, just enjoy streamings from Crunchyroll, Hulu, and other legit sites until their licenses expire one by one.

My own collection is below:

If you can't tell, I like a wide variety of different shows. My most recent purchases were Baccano, Trigun, Wolf's Rain, Cowboy Bebop, ef~a tale of melodies, and Eden of the East: Paradise Lost.

I still have long back-log of shows that I need to purchase in the future, and am always trying to allocate the funds to justify finally buying. On top of that, other great shows keep getting licensed and added to my list. I try to keep a balance of buying new and old shows, so I don't have just a whole bunch of one or the other on my backlog.

I'm going to have to pick up Get Backers when Sentai releases it this year, as well as Another, and NIS America's release of AnoHana.

My backlog is currently the following:
