Some of these collections posted are ridiculous. Makes me want to start a massive collection of my own. I really only own a few seasons of anime's in iTunes store right now. The rest I watch on Crunchyroll, and what's not there just of streaming sites.

Nowadays I have no VHS in my collection anymore as they've nearly all been replaced by DVDs and Blu ray, but the point is that I can say with fair certainty that none of the huge collections you see here have been built over a short period of time. |

I don't doubt it. Usually seasons alone are about $20-$40 a piece. You would have to have a lot of money to blow to get all those at once. |

I still have all my VHS as some were not rereleased on disc. And for nostalgia, rewind!

Damn you people are lucky having so many lol. I am a collector of both anime and manga, and even if I've watched / read it before, i will still collect the ones i like.
In terms of anime DVD / Blu ray, i only have about 7. I have about 100 manga. Not much i know, but i hope to get a lot more soon |

I think I have at least 30 different titles on DVD
I feel I have to support all of the names you see in the closing credits. Dem people worked hard on these anime. |

More recent stuff... buying one at a time or waiting for boxed sets. With Tari Tari, you can have your cake and eat it too as the second one came with a box for all six (I guess they figure you may just buy the first one). Tari Tari 4, released yesterday in Japan and amazon.co.jp with DHL came to my doorstep the next day (today)halfway around the world; now my box is 2/3 full
Too bad Tasogare didn't do a box. While Kokoro Connect is releasing a box with the second/last disc of each arc it appears, here is the Hito Random 2 disc set: |

Tried searching everywhere for it. |

I LOVE having any form of collection and HATE having to download things off the internet. Where's the fun in that? You can't put it on your shelf in it's respectful place with all of the other amazing DVD's/Blu-Rays/Manga books. I have not long since started collecting anime but it really is growing and I hope it continues growing to a respectable size before physical copies are completely gone. I love listening to both the original Japanese voices and the English dub of an anime and I don't know what they would do with special features if downloading takes over. I love listening to a commentary, watching an interview and (rarely) watching the behind-the-scenes footage. Please don't let physical copies die out.

I totally agree, would love to have physical copies of most of the animes I watched. The only problem why I don't is money, I know it's not an excuse but I just don't have plenty to afford the dvds/volumes. |
