Old thread I made is old.
Also refuse to believe I was ever in that good of a mood.
I miiiight have added a few things to my own collection since the time of my original photos... whenever I reorganize their shelf, I will probably snap a newer photo.

Those who posted pictures of their collections are all awesome, though hpulley takes gold, your imports are stunning, and helllll yeahhhh keep posting pics of your goodies!! I, for one, love ogling your purchases.

I think when I made this thread I was high on the euphoria of finding other anime fans. XD
Even more ecstatic that most were adults.
I felt like the bumblebee girl in Blind Melon's "No Rain" video.

Have you ever posted a photo of your collection together? It's freaking serious I bet!! XD

I asked him and he claimed it was quite modest, lies I say! Lies.

I just bought a few bits, Eva 1.11 and 2.22, Baccano!, akira and 5 centimetres per second. Pics when they arrive

The imports are expensive so that part is not modest But I am sure others have way more in the DVD department for sure. Perhaps I could compete in good old VHS... Even for books, I have a ton I thought (over 200 books) but others in the "show us your manga collection" thread have thousands so I still say 200 books is modest by comparison.

If I can think of a non-ugly way of storing/displaying them all and photographing them in a way that you can actually tell what they are, I will post it. My attempts at taking a picture of 200 books yields a picture of some books, none of which you can identify... not that useful

Pretty much gave away all my VHS.
Have had to move a few times in the last fifeteen years and though I invariably decimate my book library. so far my DVDs have survived the packing day purge.

But in the age of digital access it's hard to beat streaming for stuff you'll only watch once. Heck even for stuff I own. I have a few series that own that still have the cellophane on. but that I've watched repeatedly. physical copies are nice. comforting eve. 'It's Mine!' but... honestly space in the small apartments that I can afford or sparing my aging back when I move tend to trump that sentiment.

As much as I'd like to say that I would get rid of the VHS if I had them on DVD... I realized I'd be lying because I've had the duplicates of Devil Hunter Yoko on VHS and DVD for over a decade and still haven't gotten rid of them. ...it's actually almost shameful the other anime crap I find randomly when I go through my belongings... Sailor Moon trading card game. I've got 653 copies of the papillon card, anyone want to play? Anyone?! ... ...anyone?

I don't purchase anywhere near as much as I'd /like/ to buy due to a severe lack of funding, but that does help keep my collection smaller for mobilization purposes and also forces me to evaluate my purchases thoroughly. Yet even being broke, I still manage to wind up with duplicates occasionally and unopened discs.

I cut the cord years ago now, I only watch streaming, and 95% of what I watch is anime. The other 5% and only digital content I actually own is Seasons 2 and 3 of Walking Dead... and it drives me insane. I will most likely buy S2 on blu-ray (don't tell Mr. EvilBunny) when I get my tax refund; I hate not having subtitles. I will stick with streaming as a form of preview and buying only what I'm really crazy about. WD has been the only thing that was exception-worthy enough to warrant buying digital.

Now my non-anime, non-phallic Disney VHS tapes? I'm ready to be rid of those back-breaking space-wasters.

I love anime and I think some of the stuff I've seen posted here is Waaaay cool. but for me... "Because... MINE!" is not good enough. I've been a pack rat all my life and I find it's mostly made my life cluttered messy and tiring.

That said. I don't trust all these wonderful services and the big online libraries to be here for me forever. so I still buy stuff.

See, I have the servere lack of funding issue (Student) but now I'm a bit older I really feel a responsibility to buy what I enjoy. Obviously when I was younger it was all fansubs and not paying for anything. Now I'm trying to watch everything legitimately (CR) or buy it, problem is alot of the things I want to get I physically cant (Or at an unreasonable price).

That and owning the DVDs makes it so much easier to get friends into anime and things, just give them it and be like 'watch this then tell me anime is for kids'.

I had a feeling it was because you couldn't get all the titles in focus at once!!! XD
True sign of one who is into photography--blur causes you physical pain and anguish.

Ahh yes, this thread has permanently skewed my perception of big collection/small collection... Quite a humbling experience, haha, and I have since considered my collection quite small since.

I'm a sucker for good old VHS tapes, one of our local Blockbusters had a pretty healthy anime section for the time and I rented and watched pretty much everything they had, many I will probably never remember... unless people post their VHS collections and jog my memory...

So true. My collection isn't as extensive as others, but I still keep adding to it. The biggest problem is finding the space to put everything.
