Does anyone still buy physical DVD collections?

Eastunder wrote: I've recently started my collection, i have Akira, Baccano!, and soon i will have Soul Eater and Beck after they're delivered. But i was wondering, does anyone know where to find cheap and legitimate copies of Eureka 7, i don't want bootlegs and the ones on Amazon are f***ing expensive. Unfortunately, Eureka Seven is a Bandai title, so you're not likely to find any legit copies of it for cheap. Bandai has discontinued their DVD production, so what's out there is all there is. I can't imagine it getting any cheaper as time goes on either, especially if you want it new. If you're willing to buy used, Amazon will likely be your best choice to find a good deal that isn't a bootleg. I've used them to get some volumes of Cardcaptor Sakura, which is also out of print. Compared to Ebay, the prices on Amazon are consistently lower from what I've observed. |

I don't separate DVDs from Blu-rays because I like looking at anime snuggle with other anime...So, the answer to the thread topic is yes, I still buy anime I really, really like on a nice touchable disc. Streaming is great for checking out lots of titles and deciding if I want a physical copy, but it's not dependable if there's something really special that I want to keep around for a while, since licenses fluctuate and things just disappear into the ether. |

I never want to have to delicately wipe a layer of dust of my anime collection ever again (though in my defense they were higher than I could reach) because it hurts my soul, thus if I can't have them on dust-free display, then they have to be somewhere tucked away safe... my precious... Even if I put the blurays and dvds together, I've still got VHS... I can't put those old monsters on display; it'd look like a museum in here! The person a few pages back with the glass front display cabinets---Now THAT was win. I could probably fit everything in one of those. Clearly, the final solution is to get a bigger house with enough rooms to ensure I get one just for my anime and video games... Confidentially... There's more stuff. Wall scrolls, posters, stickers... If it was solely my room? Throw Hello Kitty in there as well. Now that I'm all starry-eyed and delusion, I'm going to go study my accounting again to fund my lofty aspirations. To the books! |

and foolish though it may seem, to me that's everything.

EvilBunnyFluff The person a few pages back with the glass front display cabinets---Now THAT was win. I could probably fit everything in one of those. I'm pretty happy with those, but now I regret not getting more... Both cases are completely filled up and right now there are another 4 series coming my way. As for storing them, I tend to keep the anime with the anime as much as I can, but my anime does use the same storage space as my normal movies and series do. I might go and sort that out one day, but not today. :) Slightly off-topic: EvilBunnyFluff wrote: pic related, it hurts me as bad as this does Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide ![]() LOL! I buy them one I can, Hell Girls first season, Bebop series and movie, Samurai Champloo, Darker than Black first season, and Trinity Blood (kinda regret that one.. does it get better than the first few episodes??)
I plan on buying more once my employment situation gets better... I really want a Lucky Star Collection, and a Genshiken set. |

I suppose it depends on the series. If I'm going to buy it on DVD or not. I usually buy them on DVD so that my brother can enjoy them as he doesn't have internet. So any good ones I let him borrow.

I buy DVDs, not fond of downloading or streaming, but that seems to be the way its going. But usually the anime I like never makes it to a region 1 release so I don't buy as much as I would.

Saying I am a big fan would be an overstatement, but Monk always was one of the series I sat down for. Perhaps one day I will buy the set and watch it start to finish. |

George_z If you get a chance, you should, I really do love that show; I've seen them all a dozen times and I'll still watch them again and laugh my ass off. Mr. Monk and the Red-Headed Stranger is the best. "Do you smell something?" "No I don't, and you don't either." |
