WOW you just took the wind right out of my sails!!! I might be able to hit up the husband... He really liked NGE too... I'll just probably have to get a used copy, which isn't that big of a deal I guess... if I still had my original copy, it would be WELL used!!! haha

Thank you for telling me, I had no idea!!!!!

You can still get it on ritestuff. Just don't dawdle too much as it will go out of print. Get the Platinum edition. The thinpack is pretty cheep atm.

You're right; I need to give up my delusions of buying Platinum as separates new from amazon to get the booklets in them. >.< Platinum it is!! I saw them for as little as $40...

I do appreciate the tip, I hope to get it soon!!

O.o That Akira blu-ray looks pretty awesome, why would you want to get rid of it?!

And what's the difference between having something that's imported vs something that's not imported??

I accidentally bought two..... and the imported one (the packaging) is better.

I still buy collections, just to show support for the studio and the mangka and such. And if I really liked the series.

Usually I wait a while too for the series to come out in a collection box (because I positively hate buying individual boxes) and till it drops in price. Ive already seen the series, and most likely have a torrent, or have some way to stream, so Im really in no hurry to pay $60 for something Ive already watched.

I have the first DVD of SuperS, that I happened to come across at my dollar store when I was in high school. I would have loved to have the whole series, but I didn't have much money back then to buy much. ^^;; (that's also why I have a bunch of random DVDs now. XDD )
I looked up Ryo-ohki on Amazon to see if they had the keychain... Is this the one you had? http://www.amazon.com/Tenchi-Muyo-Ryo-Ohki-Keychain-GE3220/dp/B004FO3SRO/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1331674963&sr=8-6 It's pretty cheap. I may have to get me one for ol' times sake. =^__^=

Hahha, DBZ battles really did last forever. XD I wonder how I had so much patience when I was a kid since I was in middle school when I got into it. ^^; I was watching DBZ kai whenever I had the chance a few months ago and when they stopped the episodes around one of my favorite parts, I grabbed one of my VHS tapes that took place around that time, I was surprised just how long it took to power up and even start a fight. XD It was my first time touching the original series in years!
lol I recorded some of the Sailor Moon episodes from the Toonami days, too. XD Maybe I should revisit them. ^^;; Ah~Nostalgia. lol Just wish they would license rescue Sailor Moon and bring over Stars... Though I do know Funimation IS trying to get Sailor Moon. Hope they do eventually.

Hahha, I was in middle school and had too much time on my hands. XD Fox Kids used to air Monster Rancher, Digimon and even a little bit of Escaflowne. Those were some of the shows I was most into when I was younger, and I'd still like to own a physical copy of Monster Rancher and Digimon.

I should take some quick pics of my DVD collection and post them. I do need to update "My Geeky Stuff" album on facebook. ^^;

Dollar store?!?! WOW what a find!!! And OMGholyblastfromthepast, Batman!!! That //IS// my old keychain!!!!! omg!!!! I had that keychain... ... ... ... like 12 years ago??? When is a keychain worth $8??? When it makes you feel like you're 18 again OMG!!! O__O I am both shocked AND awed!! Thank you so much, this TOTALLY makes my day!!! ^_^

I, too, checked out DBZ Kai for a quick minute!!! I was impressed at how fast it moved--that was pretty cool!!!!! I think I saw the first episode of Stars??? I think it's one of the passed on ancient VHSs...

I love seeing pictures of other people's collections!!! I don't know a SINGLE other person in RL with an anime collection, so this makes me totally feel so much less alone!!!!! ^_^ I mean I might know a person or two with a Miyazaki, and while I love his films having only Princess Mononoke and Ponyo doesn't exactly count as having an "anime collection", lol!

well thank you yeah i do try to keep things in order for what I like. I have a rule however for series that I like if i watched them fan-subbed i try to support the legal versions if i really like the series. Now with legal streams that's no longer a big issue for me I can be more cautious about my purchases.

Sorry for the late reply to your question well lets see I do re-watch Azumanga Daioh, Higurashi, Eva/End of Eva and Flcl every year no matter what.

I haven't had to resort to looking for a fan sub in a while now; there's just so much available legally to stream, I haven't had to hunt down anything in almost a year now! (which is awesome!!!) I can only purchase rarely, so I always get something I know is going to have huge re-watch value for me!!

I have to rebuy Eva, I seriously can't live without it... >.< I had all the discs sent to me via Netflix because I couldn't wait til I purchased another copy to watch it again, and I had to show the husband for the first time!!!!!!!

They actually hired some kid fresh out of high school at husband's job (metal construction company) and the kid applied for the job because "he was on the robotics team in high school" so my husband says to him "Alright naw boy, I wantcha to get on buildin me one of them there Evangelions... you know what I'm talkin about, don'tcha boy?!?" and the kid got this kinda funny look on his face and was like "Actually... yes I do..." "Alright, good boy, get started on that!!" Bwahahahahahaha sorry, makes me laugh every time I think about it--- leave it to a nerd from the robotics team to come through on the Evangelion reference!!!!!!

I haven't seen any of the other animes you mentioned, but I will add them to my list of things to watch if they're so good it requires a yearly ritual!!!

I owned a larger collection at one time but decided to pare it down due to space issues. However, I'm once again building up my collection again. The thing I like so much about dvd collections is that the artwork done on the boxes are so good most of the time and are original. I say this all the time but there's something to be said for having a physical copy of anime in your hands. Anyhow, here's my list(sorry , no picture)
8th MS Team ( Gundam)
Gundam Seed/Destiny
Full Metal Panic
Avatar: The Last Airbender
S.T.R.A.I.N
Naruto ( 1st series)
And then I have the Clone Wars of course that isn't anime though.
I have a few others that I'm working on and I would really like to get Eureka Seven too.

Are you kidding me?? At nearly $40 a season, Clone Wars is ABSOLUTELY worth including on that list, in my opinion!!! We'd totally have them if 1. They weren't quite so expensive (George Lucas, I'm lookin at you here) and 2. My son wasn't such a big chicken "^_^ heh heh... The first season was okay-ish for him (he's 6)-- we have the movie and he LOVES it (he's a sucker for babies)... but somewhere around the second season it started to take a considerably darker turn (I know where it culminates so I can't see it getting happier towards the end haha!!!) and it was just too scary for him... :/ He's afraid of Winnie The Pooh (albeit only Franken-Pooh, but still!)... He's more like a Hamtaro style kid hahaha!!!

Ah, someone else here who watches Clone Wars! Ha-ha-ha. I love the series and I have all 3 seasons so far but, I agree that it has taken a darker turn. I don't think things are going to end well either. I guess I was hoping that that the series would stop before it gets into the other things. Anyhow, Tell your son that its okay to be a little afraid. I just saw Darth Maul in the last episode and he scared me!

You know, that makes a WHOLE lot more sense!!!!! I was lookin at the photo goin "I don't even SEE another copy with a cover like that person had--WHY would they want to get rid of it?!? It looks epic!!!" but THAT one being the one you're keeping, but selling the plain one I saw everywhere for sale, well /now/ I totally can understand!!!!!

The cover looks like a trapper keeper, I'm just sayin >.< (Come on, you know that trapper keeper episode of South Park TOTALLY reminds you of Akira!!!!)

Could NOT be more with you on buying whole seasons instead of going disc by disc!!! First off, individual discs cost a FORTUNE over buying a box set... If you saw my photos, you'll see I that I have 1/2 a season of Sailor Moon SuperS and that's exactly why--The other 3 discs weren't OUT yet >.> (at the time!)

If it's something I loved and I /know/ I would watch it again, it goes onto my Want list! Most of the box sets I'm looking at are the $30-$50 range, which are pretty darn reasonable in my world!!! ^_^ Still doesn't mean I /have/ $40 laying around, but if I did... ... ... ^_^

Yeah, somewhere around the Death Eaters (or whatever they were called--lol@death eaters!!!) it became a leeeetle too graphic for a 6 year old!!! >.<

I've seen the movies... and judging by where this fits into the story... It's not gonna be pretty :/

Dude, I can't blame you--Darth Maul doesn't exactly scream sunshine, roses, kittens and hugs!!!! O_O Man I'd hate to run into him at the grocery store!!! (Even the Dark Side has Dark Hunger!!)

I sold 90% of my physical stuff over the years. It mainly had to do with getting bored with the things, but Crunchyroll is quite convenient for me. I also feel, rewatching something [no matter how amazing like Millennium Actress] is kind of a waste. I like the one watch style I have going with CR.

Ha, I guess I should have figured there would be people who are the complete opposite of me!!! ^_^

I've always been like that, and not only with anime. My father can STILL sing you "Under the Sea" because I watched "Little Mermaid" so many times (It's been 23 years since LM came out--just to give you an idea of how many times I watched it!!! haha)

When I was like 6, the video rental store actually GAVE my mother the 2 Rainbow Brite tapes that were the only thing I would rent over and over and over again... ^_^ They felt bad that she had to keep renting the same tapes so many times!!!! hahaha (Yes I still have them WITH my homemade construction paper covers!!!)

When I was a teenager, I think I spend something like 6 months straight watching "Grease" 4-8 times a day, every day... (Really, not an exaggeration!!!) I even saw it in the movie theater when it came back out!!!!!! ^_^ I dragged not ONE but TWO boys with me to see--and one of them REALLY hated Grease with a PASSION too bwahahahaha... And I'm such a trickster I held BOTH of their hands (unbeknownst to the other!!!) the entire time!!!!!! bwahahahahahahahahahahahahaha ahhhhhh youth..... Sorry, I totally digress... Good times, good times...

I think the main reason I watch everything at least twice is I have like zero recall ability when I watch something only once!! But if I could watch something once and remember it well enough to converse about it a year later, I would probably only watch most things once!!!

I used to be like that. I've rewatched my old favorite anime at least 10 times, and growing up I didn't have much, so I watched the few movies I had over and over. As an adult, who doubles as a student in what I would describe is not an easy field, I don't have time to rewatch :X.

I understand and respect where you come from though =D.

Thanks, I'm an otaku gamer posing as a responsible adult and parent ;)

We always had cable at my parents house--It's as an adult I can't afford anything! haha I got most of my anime collection when I was 18-20... delivering pizzas used to be QUITE profitable back in the day!!! (.97 cents for a gallon of gas!!!!)

And you support the industry directly by buying straight from them (hard to justify an import without subs or dubs though).

I know that Japan and the US are the same blu-ray code, but the only thing I wanted /that/ badly that I contemplated ordering it from Japan (Gundam 00) didn't have subtitles! ;_; Kinda defeats the point!!!
