After you break up with someone how long do you normally wait to start dating again?

I am kinda asking this b/c my cousin was dating his now ex gf for 1 year and about 1 week ago they broke up and he is now dating again with a new gf after he just broke up with his ex gf a week ago

So how long would you wait before getting a new bf/gf?

Depends how much of a bond you had with the last person. Then again, i suppose you can always "love" someone and not be "in love" with them so it can be easier to move on, knowing in your heart you still "have love" for that person.

When you're emotionally stable enough to do so. You don't want to go into a new relationship with all your old baggage. It's not fair to your current partner.

As soon as it feels right. When you get used to a relationship you might feel kinda lonely after you break up, I've felt that and I was over my ex.

As LosingOrbit said, it's not fair for your new partner if you come dragging old feelings with you.

It's hard to say because some people feel the need to be with someone all the time. Those are the people who jump quickly from relationship to relationship or often have rebound bf/gf. After a year long relationship, I would think that person would want to be alone for a bit. Maybe he was already talking to her or he just needs someone to be with.

Your cousin obviously never cared about the girl.

It depends on the relationship and length of it, but 1 week before moving on is short for any real relationship though.

my cousin is the type how hates being by him self and need to be with someone so as soon as he broke up with his gf his Brother set him up with his gf's sister so both brothers are dating sisters I also thought he would need some time after the break up but guess not For me it depends on how long I dated someone if it was only short time like a moth then it wont take long for me to get over my ex its longer like a year or more then I would need lot of time before dating again

I agree with this

I really shouldn't matter how long you wait as long as your not using the person

He did he had put a down payment for a engagement ring and as soon as he pay it off was going to ask her to marry him but she broke up with him and also I think the reason why he got over so fast was b/c of what else she did to him. She lie to him and took his dog away and wont give the dog back its a long story I did not want to get in to all of it. I just was kinda shock that it was that fast he was dating again but I guess b/c of what she did I dont really blame him
