I'm a pretty big Apple fan, and I was wondering if anyone else had planned on picking one up. I waited in line for 7 hours yesterday, and I finally got my hands on one and it feels fantastic. The first app I used was the Crunchyroll app, by the way. ^_^

Seriously? No. Fucking. Way. I feel they're over priced for what they're worth and to be honest, they just came out with the Ipad2 last year. Just how much better is it now than last year's model?

I stopped buying after someone stole my Nano : / First and last thing I got of theirs. My dad might. He's obsessed.

EDIT: He got one. -_-

Nope ... I think I will wait till the ipad can make me a sandwich before I buy one. I mean if they really are making it better each year that is the inevitable conclusion. Right?

Another one?! Well I'm not because I don't see the point...as soon as you buy one another newer "better" version comes out.

I have a ipad 2. Got it for Christmas, there's no way in hell Im upgrading.

the enhanced screen is nice, and the processor is a bit faster....but seriously not a major upgrade for me.

But, really? $600 bucks for the 32gb with JUST wifi? (I only use my ipad at work or home, no need for the 3 or 4g) and I NEED the 32gb. I dont buy physical copies of my comics, some of my manga, and books. I mean shit, thats super expensive. It would be half my Comic Con savings, or my tax return. Way too much. I only got a 32gb ipad2 because I was given a friends and family discount, on top of my Prime Membership discount. (So it was total steal at $400 some odd bucks)

My prime concern is all my app updates. Kindle updated yesterday for prep for the new ipad- sure it takes advantage of the new ipad enhance pixelation, but IT MADE MY VERSION GRAINY. I may just go back to an actual Kindle for reading now!

and the name of the line is stupid. "new ipad" No shit? What happens a year down the road. Oh nvm, "new ipad2" will be coming out. Whoever okayed that in their marketing department needs to be shot.

The only difference is faster processor with more memory and stuff like that. Not any significant improvements to warrant a "new" release in my opinion.

I'm not getting defensive, but it's hard to be mad about a new iPad release every year (the first one was in June, the following have been in march) whenever there's a new android tablet practically every single month. I'm currently in college, so portability is one of my biggest concerns. I quit carrying a laptop around once I got the iPad, and I don't miss the laptop at all. The price, I think is a bit exspensive, but it truly is a premium product. It feels like nothing else out there. The biggest change on the new iPad is the retina display by far. When held at a normal distance, or even up lose, the human eye cannot detect the pixels, and there's math to prove it.

Also I'm a game designer, and I'm studying it in college, and my ultimate goal is to become a legitimate iOS developer, so it's more of a tool rather than a product for fun for me. It's also confirmed that it's the most powerful mobile device on the market, so there's something for tablet users who want the performance.

To answer the concerns about its naming, it's because Apple wants to get rid of e numbers, such as what they've done with the MacBooks. They're simple MacBook pro and MacBook air, as well with the iPod touch. Eventually, all Apple products will just be the name of the device itself, no numbers. It's for a more "universal" experience.

Now, don't get me wrong, I completely respect your guys' opinions. I don't want to sound l
Ike I'm shoving my views on products down your throat, but I have to admit I'm super stocked about this thing. ^_^. (also, Crunchyroll looks incredible on the retina display)

I got mine. I didn't open Crunchyroll 1st heh. I didn't expect crunchyroll to look anybetter and well the shows look the same. The rest of the app does benefit a bit from the retina display though. Frankly, I don't know what to do with my old iPad 2 now =(. This one is such a huge upgrade that I am loathe to even use it. We'll see. Maybe when I'm studying I'll want the extra tablet for easier reference instead of multitasking and switching screens etc. Otherwise I might give it to my sister.

I was hoping Crunchyroll would be updating their iOs app to stream HD now that the iPad can really make it look good.

I'm still plugging away on my old iPad (mark I). I just finished paying for a lot of home improvements, I want to save for my upcoming travel plans, and I won't be cash flush again until almost the middle of the year. Even though I am a geek, I'm not going to think too much about an upgrade at the moment...

....though I reserve the right to change my mind after my next visit to the Apple Store :)

But in all probability, my upgrade won't be seriously considered until the version after this one.

Oh, and about the 'new iPad' name -- I wonder if this is a continuation of Apple's superstitious fear of calling anything "The (whatever) 3?" Ever since the Apple III flopped so badly, they never named anything "3" ever again...

heh, I had them engrave iPad 3 on the back of mine. Not sure about the superstition thing. I thought it was a little odd that they didn't call it iPad 3. I call mine iPad 3 anyway.
