I would click on the link, but it's not working lol. Also, I believe that that "tablet" you mention should be out of the equation. I'm not much for PC-style tablets, because of their rather cluncky "port" of an operating system. The iPad is easy to use, tons of features, and in fact, there is a benchmark to prove it.

Also, allow me to elaborate a bit more on the "mobile device" I was mentioning. By "mobile", when they say that, they mean running a mobile operating system - such as Android and iOS.

Let me just get this straight....

We're taking The Series 7 slate out of the equation because "youre not much for PC-style tablet" ? and "because of their rather clunky port of an operating system?" That's YOUR personal opinion. But doesnt take PC tablets out of the equation, OR the market.

Have you seen the consumer preview for Windows 8 on a PC tablet? That OS is FLUID, and its still in ALPHA. That's what makes the software capabilities totally limitless compared to mobile iOS or Andriod. Why limit your hardware's capabilities with a "lite version" of an operating system? Build a better hardware that can utilize all of your amazing OS, weather is Apple, Android, or Windows.

I fail to see you argument.

Its STILL a tablet. Thats like saying MewTwo isnt a pokemon because he's a clone of Mew -_- And by the way, that article you linked, down at the bottom, clearly thinks PC tablets are exactly that...tablets. Oh wait, they call them "Windows 8 tablets." Ever better, it links to rather entertaining article on Windows 8 and the future of PC tablets.

http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/251126/what_windows_8_means_for_tablets.html

“I do believe a similar thing will happen in tablet world as in smartphone world," says Notes Lixin Cheng, CEO of ZTE USA. "I think iPad's dominance will gradually decrease, and other OS tablets will grow.” Windows 8, he adds, “has high expectations for those looking for a unified experience across PC, tablet, and smartphone.”

Thats a mighty fine quote Mr. Lixin Cheng.

This isnt to say, Apple wont hold the lead in the tablet industry for a while- but they better look over their shoulders while theyre running for first. Apple had a great innovator, but they better make a move soon too keep their tablets more powerful and appealing to several different audiences- just not slightly upgraded hardware.

If Microsft/Samsung want to even come close to beating Apple, they have to reduce the price of the Series 7 by about, oh say, 75%. People already complain about the iPad being too pricey, but almost $2,500 for a tablet is WAY too much.

Also, once again, I'm emphasizing the word "mobile." The reason why they would make a "lite" version of their operating system? For speed, and so it (obviously) wouldn't cost about $2,500.

To call it a day, can we both agree that the new iPad is the "fastest mobile OS tablet on the market", while the Series 7 is the "fastest tablet with a full operating system on the market"?

I think that's a fair settlement.

I have an iPad and it is nice to use however there is a part of me that regrets purchasing it. Reason being is that typing long messages is a hassle, I can type fast on the iPad but physical keyboards cannot be beat. Also there are many things that and iPad cannot do that a laptop can and I personally find laptops easier to use and a more desirable product. However that is just me but I will never purchase another iPad. I see their uses however the iPad itself limits me in what I can and cannot do. Basically it's just a fancy web browser with iTunes. Well that's all I use it for, won't even touch the games, they are horrible

I'd only get it, if it's shaped like a real pad.

I actually sent a message to feedback suggesting Retina display support (even though I knew they were already considering it), and I get a message back saying "A couple of our engineers have been playing with our new iPads all morning", XD anyways they said they believed they were going to working on Retina display support for iOS ^^ (unknown date of completion though) Can't wait to see, as everything on my new iPad so far has been amazing (I can't see any pixels O_O )
