I was an East Asian Studies major, and my focus was on Japan, so I took four years of it in college and spent a summer living in Japan. I know hiragana, katakana, and probably about 2200 kanji.

I was given the option of taking it.

Took one look at the crazy ass symbol writing and opted for German instead.

So none. I don't even know what 'kawaii' really means.

I can fluidly read and write Hiragana and Katakana. I know about 50 Kanji; though, I can't write them. I have a sizable vocabulary; however, I don't know the kanji for a good deal of the words I know. I understand the grammar system to an intermediate degree.

about the only thing I have down pretty well so far are the numbers 0-1000ish including the kanji
still mess up a lot in the hundred and up range but anything less then 100 and it's pretty easy.

I'm a lower intermediate. I've studied for about two years, wrote and passed my Japanese Language Proficiency Test this past December, and my tutor is a native Japanese speaker from Nagoya; I have extended weekly lessons with her, and she's been absolutely invaluable to my studies.

I think many people on this forum are putting too much emphasis on kanji than they should at their level. Kanji and vocabulary are grown over time, but you must have a firm understanding of Japanese grammar and verb/adjective conjugation in order to do absolutely anything with it.

My sister and her friend speak Japanese, and my uncle went to japan as a minister for two years, so I've tried to learn some; made a bit of an effort to self study, but my vocabulary is very limited
