This is some of the most brilliant writing, editing, acting and direction I've seen in quite awhile.
As someone who has always felt that "Jeremy Brett IS Holmes," I'm the kind of person that would normally be put off by a modern update. But this one is so perfectly done, so accurately captures the spirit of the canon, the actors are amazing, and the writing so smart, there is no way you cannot fall in love.
This is a star-defining turn for Benedict Cumberbatch. After the first few minutes, you can't imagine anyone playing this character other than him. Quite a performance.

There is one major flaw with this series though.

TOO LONG TILL SEASON 3! : (

Love this series, probably even more than Doctor Who. Just sad there isn't more of the Sherlock series.

I'll join in the love fest, though I've only seen season 1 so far. I hope season 2 comes available on Netflix soon.

It will air in May.

Or you could buy the DVDs from Amazon UK.

Series 2 was amazing. Especially the last episode, it has probably become, in my mind, the best 1.5 hours of TV in history. Every actor shone, the writing was brilliant, the suspense was palpable and the mysteries were clever. It's television at its best.

Me too. There are so many possibilities. I've spent far too much time thinking about it.

Anyway, I really love the show; it's absolutely brilliant. Every second of the story just really pulls you in. Season 3 is so far away, but I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.

Three episodes a season is definitely super-short, but they are 90 minutes long, so it's like three movies a season. idk
