I've visited Japan several times and I LOVEE the country so much just as I love Brazil, Italy, Mexico and South Korea. There are several things that disturb and/or upset me about Japanese culture.
One thing is that Pedophilia is BIG in Japan so much so that until 1990's, child pornography was legal and when distribution of child porn became illegal the japanese were outraged so the media needed an alternative. Manga artist started creating "ecchi/lolita" manga and incorporating such themes into certain anime and manga, which is why you see young girls behaving seductively, having sexualized appearances, or being present in a sexual scene in said anime. Even in certain sienen anime, small sexual innuendos of young girls pop ever so often. Another thing that was created was "idol-lolita" music which were formed by a manager who would find young girls between the ages of 5-17 to form a dance group and thier audience would consist mostly men between the ages of 25-50.

Another thing is that the suicide rate of Japan is huge. Japan is the number one suicidal 1st world country in the world. What accounts to these suicides are things such as the confined ability to move from job to job. Once you have a job, it is really hard to be able to quit and find another with lack of experience in a different field weather you like it or not. Another big thing that accounts to the suicide is that in Japanese culture, showing and expressing emotion among friends and coworkers is generally not acceptable. Many Japanese have emotions bottled up inside of them and they are forced to put on a fake face everyday. Talking about personal problems with a friend is very rare. (Pretty ironic since this is seen in many anime). There are very few psychiatrists in Japan. In Tokyo there exists some in the field but are generally Foreigners. Thus, people choose to end their lives cause they aren't able to properly deal with their emotions and problems

Something upsetting is the the Love life in Japan. More and more young Japanese people refrain from open relationships. The Sex life of big percentage of the average Japanese couple is non existent. Most men tend towards anime/hentai or even idols for their own sexual pleasures. Japanese women generally tend to be modest and meek as that appeals to the the trait of "cuteness" which is the dominant attractive trait desired by Japanese men. (as opposed to sexiness in America) Public Displays of Affection are considered rude in Japan and many couples refrain from doing so, and this mentality follows its way to the home where couples feel awkward showing signs of compassion to their mate. In South Korea this is completely opposite, I've visited Seoul and I saw many couples on dates, not being able to keep their hands off each other.

The Big Cities of Japan are just as exciting and amazing as the big cities of any other country. Step outside to the countryside and it tends to be a little less exciting depending on your personal preferences.
What I do Love about Japan are the low crime rates, the polite mannerism of the Japanese culture, the amazing food, the cute woman, the technology and certain Japanese cultural traditions :)

Japanese people are generally more respectful.
They are very kind and leave problems out of work, unlike in America where you see many grumpy workers.
They also have a healthier diet and get more exercise than most Americans.

One major difference and flaw is showing feelings. It is not good to show any bad emotions so they hide usually hide it. This leads to a lot of suicides in Japan because many people are depressed and they don't have therapists.

A lot of people in Japan often get married for benefits i.e husband supporting family with money, wife providing child and taking care of the house but there could be no love involved. This happens in all countries but more so in Japan, which leads to cheating on each other. Hence, the thousands of love hotels in Japan where everything is kept private.

edit: Just read the above post, I basically said the exact same thing lol.

Many American eat too much unhealthy food (FastFood). From my best knowledge of other countries like Japan; eating habits tend to be more healthy. I don't eat very healthy, but I don't eat a lot either.

One of the best differences between America and Japan is how friendly the people are.
Americans tend to be more or less to say "crabby" or "stubborn".

You do realize the obesity in Asia is so prominent that its becoming ILLEGAL to be unhealthy right? If you're above a certain weight/waist size they do a pseudo-Nazi regimen and send your ass to a concentration camp for big people whether you like it or not. Look it up.

Lol exactly why I stated that fact. It's technically NOT illegal to be obese in Japan. But yes, some companies require their employees to keep a certain weight to avoid fines.

I'd probably have more fun that way. Sitting on the computer all day and passing with A's and a few B's in school is boring. I have too much free time but no where to go.
