Long ago, a prophecy was fortold that two twins would be born from the Queen. When that day happens, the girl would be the poison that would destroy the world on her 16th birthday. To prevent this, she was dropped off a cliff, but servived somehow.
She was given to the Casull family to take care of and they did for some time without problems until she because 15 when the kingdom found out she was still alive. Now, Pacifica, Shannon, and Raquel Casull are running from them, all to protect Pacifica from those that wish her dead.

My Thoughts: This is so much like Slayers and Rune Soilder but then, it’s not like anything that really has been done before. It is placed in a fantasy kingdom called Leiwan that’s pretty much under a religious order.

Pacifica always acts like a princess even though she grew up with her brother and sister. For a 15 year old girl, she pretty much acts like any normal 15 year old girl. Bitchy, whiny and all together bothersome in most places. She does get annoying at some times but in the end, you really feel for her. She was thrown away at birth and has only her foster siblings to live with. You can really tell that she loves both her siblings but it seems that she really loves Shannon. I guess you could consider her to have a big brother complex even if he isn’t her real brother. Although she is always called the poison that will destroy the world, she makes lasting impressions on those that meet her.

Shannon himself seems to always have problems wondering what he should even do. He fights within himself on the duty he has for his family and for all the other people around him. Even though he fights within himself, when on the battlefield, he protects her without thought. I myself think he looks really cute by the way. He is really reserved and doesn’t really show his emotions towards his siblings. He hates anybody outside the family and doesn’t trust them even if they show that they can be. When we talk about Shannon, we also have to talk about Zefiris who shows up in episode 2. I won’t exactly say why, but she has a large connection to Shannon and helps them with information. She sounds just like a computer with how logical she talks and acts.

Raquel is the oldest of the siblings, very kind and motherly to both Shannon and Pacifica. She normally keeps a level head and uses powerful magic, able to cast them rather fast. She doesn’t really have a lot of backstory and her personality to me feels a bit like it is lacking on some aspects, not really as filled out as Shannon and Pacifica. When putting her next to the other two, she doesn’t stand out as well as the others in the series including the people who are not related.

Leo takes up the clueless knight area. He is a noble knight who falls in love with Pacifica and his love never seems to faulter no matter what. He is always proposing to her and trying to protect her when he sees her until finds out about her being a scrapped princess. After that, he fights with himself with the question ‘What is Chivalry?’ and the question haunts him.

The Animation is wonderfully done with fluid movements as known from Studio Bones. I don’t really see many problems in the artwork as every little detail is done pretty well. There are things that I nit pick about it though like in the second episode, what the hell is the map the old women gave them? There is nothing to actually use to find the house they are looking for!

The opening is really lovely, and sounds really nice like a fairy tail beat. I truly love the English dub of the show even if it seems a little off in some of the background characters. The main characters are pretty perfect for the show, giving it the air of class. Crispin Freeman does a perfect job as Shannon, like almost all the characters he does, and makes him sound reserved and calm. He does sometimes seem too reserved but I think that more fits him. There are a lot of words that are used without much definition to the point that we sort of need a Glossary to figure them out. I wish they had a little more information about the different things like the Dragoon and Phase Space. Many of them are rather technical for a fantasy based show and open up the posiblities of something else going on.

Green Green(July 12, 2003 – Sept 29, 2003)
Director: Chisaku Matsumoto, Yuji Muto
Comedy, Romance, Slice of Life, Harem,
Key Words: School Life,
Studio:Studio Matrix Licensed American Publisher: Media Blasters

Episodes: 12

The all-boys boarding school called Kanenone Gakuen is about to merge with an all-girls school. To make sure this works, they send the girls to stay at Kanenone for a month in order to see how the boys and girls get along. Yuusuke Takazaki has his hands full with his perverted roommates as they coo over the girls and the strange young girl named Midori Chitose who seems to know him from somewhere.

My Thoughts: Well, what do you get when you take girls and put them in an all boy’s school? You get perverted sexual problems, and boy is this one perverted. After looking the show up a bit more, I found it was created as an H-game visual novel so that explains the storyline and the bad script. I have to wonder why these things actually get made for TV when this probably should have just been made as a Hentai. There is no point in going so far in the perversion without at least going all the way.

The storyline starts out with sweet and innocent idea, then suddenly goes fucken sick! I mean, about 4 minutes in, the Bacchi-Gu (And yes, I really have to look at a character sheet to actually remember the characters names… otherwise this guy would be Fat Pervert) starts talking about how much he jacks off. Like we really need an image of that in our heads! I just want to shoot them. Then we get the really odd ball other men. The only one that seems normal is Yuusuke but he feels really bland around all the other stupid men who I would just love to kick. Of course, with a harem, the bland one gets all the girls.

Then we get to the girls who look alright at first but there personalities are really only one sided. Sure some of the girls do get a bit better as the story goes on but I can probability sum them up in just a few words. We got the bitch, the sickly little girl, the sporty, the big breasted teacher, and the dunce. The only one with depth is Midori but her voice makes me not care. The whole story line is pretty flat and just makes me feel like falling asleep. The comedy falls flat and the jokes are all pretty perverted.

If you don’t want to throw up, I wouldn’t watch episode 6 by the way… the three perverts being trapped together just made me want to throw up. I DON’T WANT TO RELIVE IT!

The opening is really odd, showing girls with no clothing and then acting like they are on a computer as a mouse clicks on there undergarments and clothing, then they do it for the men. If that wasn’t a good idea of what type of show this is, then I don’t know what is.

The Animation is alright in some parts but then just get lousy in others. We have a very strong jiggle problem with the women and when they aren’t jiggling around, the character move oddly like they are rather stiff or being tugged a bit strangely. The show gets more and more perverted in artwork as the story goes on like someone just said screw it, we are showing the girls nipples.

The English voices are so fucken bad for the men and most of the girls also have bad voices. I hate Midori’s voice the worse, sounding like one of the girls from Eiken. The dub is really bad for actual pronunciations but sadly I had to live with it because the one I got had no subs.

Even though this is a really perverted show and I really hate most of it, the storyline ends rather sadly. It has actually a really good meaning behind it but sadly, it was lost in the background of perverted lust jokes.

Half a year after the girls leave the school, the school feels a bit lonely without them. As the boys try to take care of themselves, the girls come back for a little time during the brake. Midori plays matchmaker to Yuusuke and Futaba as they start their new love.

My Thoughts: This is pretty much episode 13 from the TV series though this one is so over the top, I could call it Hentai. The story follows after the girls leave and then come back during the winter. The mood of the show actually is a bit sad and wraps up any things that were not closed before.

I have to say, this show is alright (to a point) since it’s actually supposed to be a hentai. What I don’t like is that it has the same damn perverted jokes. They crammed as much sexual things as possible into the show. Some of the things are actually done tasteful but the three perverted guys from before ruin the mood and throw it to the wind.

Artwork is the same and voices are pretty much standard. The script seems a bit forced in some spots.

Sorceress Stabber Orphen: Begins(Oct 3, 1998 – Mar 27, 1999), Majutsushi Orphen: Begins
Director: Hiroshi Watanabe Written by: Masashi Kubota
Action-Adventure, Comedy, High Fantasy, Drama,
Key Words: Magic, Swords, Dragons, Monsters,
Studio: J.C.Staff Licensed American Publisher:Sentai Filmworks

Episodes: 24

The orphan, Krylancelo Finrandi and his adopted sister, Azalie, where sent to Fang Tower to learn magic at a very young age. As they grew in their studies, Azalie always seemed to be one step above Krylancelo and was very gifted. He looked up to her in all she did and loved her with all his heart. One day though, her thirst for knowledge went to far and she was turned into a dragon-like beast with a fury like no other. That was when the tower turned their back on Azalie, promoting the belief that she was dead. Krylancelo’s friends seemed to turn to enemies and strangers before his eyes till he couldn’t take it anymore and Renounced his former self and name, calling that Krylancelo was dead and that he will forever be called Orphen. Now he tries desperately to search for the dragon and turn Azalie back to her former self. He travels along side his apprentice, Magik (though he is not so good with magic) and the Sword women, Cleo (who really doesn’t like Orphen much).

My Thoughts: I love this show. It has a really nice feel to it and pulls at your emotions well. The light hearted emotions they have in it only help keep the show from becoming to dark. Though the artwork is rather vintage and has small hiccups sometimes, it is still a very good series of anime.

I love how Orphen acts even though he can be pretty much a jerk. He doesn’t take a lot of things seriously except what he actually deams worth his time. He’s shrud and stand-offish though he really does care about the other characters. Magik is pretty much like a cluts though he is a ladies man even when he doesn’t try. He’s gentle and sweet, always caring about others. Cleo is well… mostly a brat, though she does grow the most in the show. She first starts out rather like a spoiled brat and then slowly warms up to Orphen. I do like her pushy attitude and her go get ‘um personality but sometimes I think she is way too hard of Orphen.

The storyline is a bit odd though and feels a bit like they have a lot of filler. For a lot of the time, it seemed like only side quests even though we already knew the story line and what it would lead up to. I like when it leads up to giving us the bigger picture instead of telling us all at once.

The animation is rather vintage, just a bit grainy though the colors are soft and perfectly shows the characters. It’s almost like your looking threw a very light fog and makes the artwork even more beautiful. I do have a problem with the name screen as it is in poor 3D animation. They could of easily drawn the image rather then make it look better then that. Sometimes there are times where the animation seems to hold for a second before switching over to the next scene.

The first thing that stands out is the opening music. It’s rather up beat and fun, yet gives a rather mysterious feeling to the show. The voices are actually really well done, the English are a lot better in my mind then the Japanese, though the script sounds like it is a bit forced. It was very hard to feel for the characters when you had to read it. Sadly, the script is hard to understand even in the English though because it gives little hints until the very end.

Sorcerer Hunters(Oct 3, 1995 – Mar 3, 1996), Bakuretsu Hantā, Bakuretsu Hunters, Spell Wars: Sorcerer Hunters Revenge
Director: Koichi Mashimo
Fantasy, Action, Adventure, Comedy,
Key Words: Sorcerers, Magic, monsters,
Studio: Xebec Licensed American Publisher: ADV Films

Episodes: 26

On the Spooner Continent, the populace is divided into two groups; Ordinary people and those that can use magic. They are marked by a triangle on their foreheads and many dominate, exploit, torment, murder, and enslave the ordinary people.
The Sorcerer Hunters travel the lands to protect the people from those sorcerers under the command by a woman known as ‘Big Mama’.

My Thoughts: I really do love this show. The comedy is very tounge and cheek but yet it has a lot of interesting characters. It also has an underlineing meaning behind most of the episodes about family ties.

We meet the characters a bit forcefully with some being rather pushy and perverted and others being rather expository. They imply that they have been traveling around a great deal already and so some things have to be worded out a bit oddly so we could understand them. I do have to wonder why the girls end up changing personalities when they take off their clothing. I’m also not sold on their names being the names of pastries. It makes me think they should be French or something.

I wish Big Mama would actually explain a bit more about what the flash backs are about and who the male is that she thinks about it. I also wish they would say her real name a bit more then calling her Big Mama. No offence but when they call her that, I can’t help thinking about a large black women being called that instead of her. From what I know of, she isn’t even a mother to them so why call her big Mama?

The animation is rather nice, having that old vintage charm. Sometimes the characters look stiff, and other times it’s like they have runny egg symptoms. Carrot is the most out of control on the runny eggs images where his body doesn’t seem to want to keep his shape. He frails his arms around like crazy and at times looks like he’s actually broken or made from rags. The other characters don’t really have times like this (Well, the girls mostly do but not as badly as Carrot) so why change it.

The English voices are alright in a bit, though Terra and Chocolate are actually really annoying. They are high pitched and rather whinny. I don’t have much wrong for the males because they don’t hurt my ears. I fell in love with Marron’s voice, the younger of the brother. The scripts are pretty forced and end up having to explain a lot sadly, taking away the charm. Other then that, the rest of it is pretty tounge and cheek with the comedy. Sometimes, how they talk is actually way too hard to figure out. They end up mumbling or screaming into the mic which makes things hard to understand.

Master of Martial Hearts OVA(Oct 29, 2008 – Feb 25, 2009), Zettai Shougeki: Platonic Heart OVA
Director: Yoshitaka Fujimoto
Ecchi, Action, Seinen,
Key Words: martial arts, blood, nudity,
Studio: ARMS Corporation Licensed American Publisher: Funimation Entertainment

Episodes: 5

Aya and Natsume have been best friends for a long time. On their way home from school, they walk right into a fight between a teenage girl in a miko dress and a flight attendant. This little meeting makes them and the young miko become friends, the girls end up learning about a special jewel that will grant any girls wish but the only way to get it is to fight in a special tournament. Soon after, the miko ends up missing. Now Aya must battle in her place to save her new friend from disappearing forever.

My Thoughts: WHAT THE *Beeping* HELL IS THIS *beep*! WHO THE *beeping* HELL DECIDED TO ASK ME TO REVIEW THIS PIECE OF *Beep*? I SHOULD…

*Please stand by as we are having technical issues*

You know, you would think to this point that I would be desensitized at how much fan service the animators put into these shows but I end up feeling still grossed out to how much they do place. You don’t need a breast and tant shot every five seconds for it to catch someone’s attention, nor do you need female characters that are stressed that they may be more then just friends. The forcefulness of the girls being friends makes me feel a bit unwell and makes the script that much harder to listen to (Before anyone asks, I did watch the English version). Every character in this show seems ether perverted or a mental case.

The first girl they meet in this fighting match is a woman named Miko… a priestess… I shit you not, that’s her damn name. For those of you who don’t know Japanese, Miko is the name of a Japanese priestess. The word means pristest so therefore… SHE DOESN’T HAVE A NAME! Not only that, but she is in the fight because of a rather stupid wish, not that wanting to make friends is stupid… just fighting people in order to get a jewel that will grant that wish just so you can have a friend is stupid. She ends up making friends anyway with Aya and Natsume anyway even though she doesn’t get the jewel so what the hell is the reason she needs it?

So I got a question for you, when you fight someone, do you start kicking when you are about a foot away from the other person or do you kick when you are farther away? Well in the first episode, Aya actually kicks when she isn’t even close to her enemy and then stands in the way while she’s getting attacked. I don’t think the fighting animation works like that. A lot of the fighting looks half assed or done with a lot of speed lines and cheesy backgrounds. Another small thing about the battles I should mention, HOW ARE THEY SECRET? Half the time, they destroy everything around them anyway so how can they even think that that would be a secret?

And they didn’t have to place all of the little love problems Aya has in there as well. She is always giving the love lust eyes at Natsume’s brother even though she thinks she knows a dark secret. We feel nothing for this little love problem because we get no idea of who this boy is. We don’t even get a chance to feel for Aya herself so what makes the writers think we would have time to feel for the brother?

The ending really doesn’t work right. The ending is so demented that it just doesn’t feel right. It’s like they pulled it out of their butt because they had no other idea how to end the series.

The art is well… up to par with most hentai I think, and it really should be hentai for how much bare boob and pantie-d taint they show in it. I also wish they would pick a size for the breasts too, Aya seems to gain and lose boob mass whenever the artists seem fit. And what is the obsession with clothing being the look of wet paper towels getting ripped from a person’s body? I know I am a girl but I do know what is sexy and what isn’t on a women and this… this really isn’t. That and the strange breast transformation from large to tiny in two shots. Many bits are just looped and it’s rather bad. I would not watch this for the animation at all. The eating animation they have in the beginning of the series actually is very unattractive and makes me wonder what women in their right mind would even eat like how Miko was doing.

The opening it actually pretty good though the girl screaming in some parts makes me cring. I actually liked the upbeat way they did the song and it does show this will be a rather action packed show. The script for English is rather bad, and though it does ‘sort of’ get better, it still feels like it could have been done much better, it would have at least added something to this little piece of… um… ya. The script starts out stupid and pretty much remains that way throughout. The tone of the voices are better then the script but again, not much. Natsume comes off sounding like a whinny school child and Aya doesn’t sound much better when she gets down to the actual thinking.

They had an ok idea for a show, but in the end, they really massed it up with the script and the artwork.

Here is Greenwood OVA(Nov 22, 1991 – March 26, 1993)
Director:Tomomi Mochizuki Written by: Tomomi Mochizuki
Comedy, Drama, Romance,
Key Words: School Life,
Studio: Asia-Do, Studio Pierrot Licensed American Publisher: Media Blasters, Central Park Media

Episodes: 6

Hasukawa Kazuya. A student at Kyokuto Academy has decided to live in the student dorm named Greenwood. The reason for this is that his brother’s new wife is also the women he had secretly fallen head over heals in love with. He moves in thinking this would be perfect for peace of mind and to avoid them but Greenwood is the last place anyone would call stable and peace, more like a former insane asylum. Can he really have just a normal life here?

My Thoughts: I really don’t get why all the boys seem to tease Kazuya right away, including telling him that his roommate, Shun Kisaragi, was a girl. It does play a lot into the yaoi feeling of this show. All the characters from his brother to anyone else in the school are really out of control. All of them seems a bit too stereotypical, Kazuya is pathetic, Mitsuru is cruel, Shun to cutesy, and yet, we sympathize with the characters when they tell us their sad stories. The worse characters for that craziness seems to be Mitsuru Ikeda and Shinobu Tezuka. All four of them seem to have a love hate relationship the whole time. My little fan girl was squealing the whole time for the little hints of Yaoi.

The episodes feel really rushed, making things confusing. It’s like we are reading Kazuya’s journal and he’s not too good at writing it. A lot of the time, they seem to be saying ‘go read the manga’ which of course is something I hate about these animes. I really don’t get the episode that they have a ghost in it. It just seems like a bit of a stretch to do that.

Other then the episodes and the odd characters, one thing it has is pretty much a lot of is understanding of feelings. All the characters have problems with something in their lives. The way they show off these issues helps make them understandable. Sadly, we don’t get the whole story as again, this is only 6 episodes and they skip so much that’s in the manga.

The animation is pretty much on the low side, I think partly because of being vintage and partly because of the low budget. It’s pretty boring animation and nothing really stands out.

The English voices are really off for the women and the men feel a little un-emotional most of the time. I can’t stand Sumire’s voice. It’s really high pitched and annoying. I also don’t understand why she keeps saying Ya as well. Is she supposed to be Chinese or something? There really was no music that stood out to me at all. Normally its way to quiet to get any music or it’s just so standard that there was no change in it.

The show is basically just bland and doesn’t stand out but it is still worth a watch.

Demon King Daimao(Apr 2, 2010 – June 18, 2010)
Director: Takashi Watanabe Written by: Takao Yoshioka Music: Tatsuya Kato
Fantasy, Action, Romance, Comedy,
Key Words: Harem, School Life,
Studio: Artland Licensed American Publisher: Sentai Filmworks

Episodes: 12

Akuto Sai aims to become part of the country’s highest order of magicians as a clergy man but on the day of being admitted to Constan Magical Academy, his aptitude test predicted his Future as being the ‘Future Demon King.’ The test has been known for never failing and so thus his interesting school life begins full of love, magic, and battles.

My Thoughts: Welcome to a magic school that places you based on what you will be after graduating. One boy has been chosen one and was left on the doorstep to be token care of… welcome to the world of Harry Potter… er… I mean Demon King Daimao. But in all seriousness, this show starts out feeling much like a Harry Potter novel then its own thing.

Akudo Sai is a rather interesting character as he wants to be a real holy man with valor so he can be a high Priest but yet ends up in a lot of perverted scenes in seeing women have dressed and up their skirts. He has the feeling of a naïve little boy without being just like Alan from D.Gray Man which would be a little bit over the top. His storyline when he was little is just the same as Harry Potter in that he was left on a doorstep and is considered the hope of someone.

Junko Hattori is a very tomboyish character who at first starts out as a loving friend and then turns her back on him when he is seen as the demon king. Since she follows the Suhara religion, she pretty much is aloud to fight all the time. I don’t really understand why she wears a Fundoshi which looks like a really uncomfortable thing. They show her underwear all the time.

Kena Soga seems a bit annoying, and magical girlish. Even though she acts stupid, it seems she is rather smart and her feelings are always true. She may be annoying but I came to like her a little more after each episode. The only thing I don’t like is

Korone has the personality of Yuki from Haruhi Suzumiya and yet she act least jokes. I’m not sure weather or not I actually like her though she does make the show interesting at times. The perverted jokes though do get a bit overboard. For being an android, she seems to love to make fun of all the misunderstandings that happen.

Hiroshi Miwa is pretty much the wimpy boy who is always being picked on. He seems exactly like Youhei from Clannad in that he is always following around his ‘best friend’ for whatever reason. He never seems to think about what he is going to say which makes things even worse for Akudo because most of the misunderstandings are made because of him.

There are a lot of misunderstandings and the show ends up using them as a comedy skit, many times to the point that sometimes it feels old. Girls always end up in fights where their clothing gets ripped off but it’s not as though it’s as bad as Master of Martial Hearts. In this idea, there is actually a reasoning behind the clothing ripping, not because its tissue paper. The show moves rather fast actually and yet, sometimes it feels a little too fast (I know… gasp! An anime that goes to fast in its plot!) but still, it makes me feel like I’m missing something.

In the end, it leaves a few questions that I have had, not really explaining much of the full structure. They keep talking about god this and god that but it doesn’t explain much of what that really is. Also, it has some of the feeling from Air: 1000th Summer. Not going to explain how but you will understand when you watch more. They change so many things around and leave it open ended.

The animation is pretty nice and standard, looking a lot like D. Gray Man in how the characters move and the darkness it sometimes has. The ending animation doesn’t hide that this is all a harem in that the main character is seen being paired up with multiple girls at the same time and them all kissing.

I love Akudo’s voice in the English dub, giving him just enough naïve-ness to make him feel innocent but yet at the same time, shows a bit of strength in what he believes in. Chris Patton is pretty good at voicing characters like that well. Greg Ayres is also pretty good at the voice of Hiroshi who is pretty much a minion. This is a guy that does the best as a minion I’m not sold on a couple of the girls voices though since they seem like mostly a hit or miss. Even the music has an air of Harry Potter, making it really hard for me to take seriously. But yet it still has a rather hip and fun feel to it.

This actually has become one of my favorites.

Kite OVA(Feb 25, 1998 – Mar 22, 1998)
Director: Yosuomi Umetsu
Action, Crime Fiction, Hentai
Key Words: Girls with Guns, Neo-noir,
Studio: Green Bunny, ARMS Licensed American Publisher: Anime Works, Kitty Media

Episodes: 2

A young girl is left orphaned when her parents were the victims of a gory double murder. She is taken in by Akai to become a sex slave and assassin for a group of corrupt detectives.

My Thoughts: This is… I don’t really know how to explain this one. It’s not all that enjoyable, and yet, it’s got a strange feeling. It’s not even what I would consider a Hentai since there were very few sex scenes, most consisting of story plot instead. The story is actually very easy to understand because it’s actually a plot that has been played out over and over again.

Sawa is a rather interesting character as she seems to only have two emotions, mysterious and shouting out. Seriously, out of all the characters, she being a main character should have more then those two emotions. It also seemed that there were more scenes of Oburi or Akai instead of Sawa.

The animation is pretty vintage and doesn’t really stand out much from most hentai related anime though it does have a small air of people holding back trying to make some things look too out of proportioned. Sadly, they did not hold back on the large masses that the men have. They feel rather unrealistic and way to big for the body and old man style.

The English Voices were hard to hear as I had to keep turning it up to listen to the voices, then turn it down at the sex scenes and fight scenes because of all the screaming and yelling in it. The music didn’t stand out at all and really needed to be turned up a hair. Sawa was actually done pretty well for what it was worth though she was reading most of the lines it seemed.

Monaka Noguchi is the daughter of the astronaut Orudo Noguchi. When he leaves on a space mission, she begins to be an assassin.

My Thoughts: This one started extremely strangely as they start out in space. Sadly, it only explains where The main character’s father has been. It doesn’t follow the original story much in that the girl they call Sawa is actually a girl named Monaka Noguchi and is not the main character from the other show. They could have fooled me though since she looks exactly like the original Sawa. When we finally get to the main character, it’s about 9 minutes into it. She works at a small dinner and acts extremely clumsy even though she could kill someone rather fast. To me, this changes the storyline drastically because it’s like she wants to kill rather then being forced to kill.

As for the new piece that they placed into it, the monsters just feel like they tried to make something more then it already was. It didn’t work out at all and made things feel choppy. Even more bothersome is the fact that her father wasn’t dead.

The ending leaves us guessing what the hell happens next and gives us no closure to the story line. The whole show was jumping all over the place and only at the end did it even show what it was trying to do.

The artwork is way different then Kite before it, being much newer and more fluid then the first. The voice doesn’t always sink up with the English voices though there was an attempt at least to do it right.

The English voice is really not that good for Monoka, making him sound way too cutesy. It’s really bothersome and high pitched making it hard to listen to. Most voices are actually really good but Sawa is not.

Episodes: 2

A mob boss named Momokichi Momoi has been killing his players on his baseball team with his daughter, Momomi. The Danger Service Agency kidnaps the mob boss and ends up killing him. Mikura, the only girl on the Danger Service seems to know more by her strange knack for seeing visions.

My Thoughts: Well, as you can tell, this is another hentai related OVA’s that is actually part of Kite. I’m going to actually say sorry to MAK for not actually getting this done with the others but I had had enough of the series after Kite Liberator. It starts out with a baseball game with a manager corrupted by money and winning. He even has his daughter help him kill his pitcher.

Then we go to Mikura and her ‘new team’ of fighters, who has been having strange visions of the killing that just happened while on another job. They don’t ever explain how she has these visions or why, they just have it as just there. Then we get a view of the special robots that are created. Somehow, the daughter of the business owner also can see into the future as well.

The artwork and animation was actually really good for the most part, and the action scenes are pretty good though I have no clued how a bullet to the foot would have such a clean wound. Most of the anime actually does look like a bad porno. Not sure why there is porn in the show anyway because it never really explains what the fuck it has to do with the story plot. One is a nightmare, and the other is a rape seen. The men’s cocks are way out of proportion (Way too big for crying out loud!) to their bodies and look rather unnatural to say the least.

The English voices… well, it’s kind of off from the Japanese version. They just don’t sound good at times and others feel a bit forced. They seem to push a lot into this.

In the end, it’s a hentai and I shouldn’t have expected much from it. Its bad but I guess if you look at the genre its in, its good for what it is…

Super Mario World(Sep 14, 1991 – Dec 7, 1991)
Director: John Grusd
Action, Adventure, Children,
Key Words: Video Game Characters,
Licensed American Publisher: DIC Entertainment Nintendo

Episodes: 13

Mario, Luigi, and Princess Toadstool live in Dinosaur Land with Yoshi and help all the caveman from being hurt by King Koopa.

My Thoughts: The story lines are pretty much weekly based and so don’t tie in with the whole of the story. And yet this actually seems to fit well for the child antics they have. What works strangely is the fact they placed video game logic for a cartoon. They did a great job putting what was in the games into the show but half the time, it feels forced.

The artwork is rather childish and a bit stretchy, sometimes a bit to stretchy. The lines are way to thin and so when two of the same color are next to each other, they look like blobs. It’s pretty standard 80’s artwork with children in mind. It’s hard to say anything more about it other then that. Sadly, Peach actually looks like Daisy instead since she had orange hair instead of blond. I also am not sure where they got Bowser

Oh my god those voices! Who thought that it would be good to give the Mario brothers a brooklen accent made thing rather bad. I couldn’t stand those voices. Even the voices of some of the side character sound way to… well… bothersome. The odd songs make this hard to watch. Them breaking out in singing and the gravelly voices just make it hard. The little sound effects from the game actually work well though and so I’m not really complaining much about that.

Panda! Go Panda!(Dec 17, 1972 – Mar 17, 1973)
Director: Isao Takahata Written by:Hayao Miyazaki Music:Masahiko Sato
Comedy, Children,
Key Words: Animals,
Studio: Tokyo Movie Shinsha, Topcraft Licensed American Publisher: Madman Entertainment

Episodes: 2

When Mimiko was left home alone after her Grandmother left on a trip, she never thought that she would meet a couple of pandas or that one of them would become her Father and the other her son! Welcome to her wacky and wonderful world of Mimiko.

My Thoughts: This is such a cute little story like My Neighbor Totoro. It’s pretty much about a young girl who ends up getting a father in a Panda and his little child. The whole thing feels a bit odd though, and Papa Panda feels rather awkward to the point that I feel like crying out ‘RAPE!’ since he feels a lot like pedo bear. The little panda is alright though, since he is way too cute and doesn’t really do anything wrong.

I’m not sure about the cute little girl, Mimiko. She for some reason likes to stand on her hands and show her panties all the time. Everyone around her gets weird-d out by the panda’s but even when they first show up, she was alright with them. I really wonder what her Grandmother is thinking when she gets all the letters from her granddaughter talking about being with pandas and tigers. I would be scared to death for her.

The animation is really playful and not that detailed. Perfect for a child’s show from 1972. Everything does this odd squash and stretch thing and sometimes don’t keep their shape all to well. The backgrounds are much more detailed then the characters. Some artwork is looped a bit as well and consistency is broken many times.

The English voices are ok though again, Papa Panda feels awkward to the point I want to call out rape. Other voices are so-so. I really do like Mimiko’s voice though; it is pretty perfect for this odd girl.

(Part 2 of Introduction of the Troll (written with MAK.)
After Angel's rather hateful experience of having to review Puni Puni Poemy, she called up MAK and asked him to meet her in the coffee shop between their homes. When he finally agreed (After a lot of talking him into it) she flew off to it.
She sat down in the corner of the shop, sipping her White Chocolate Mocha and waiting for him.

On one day when MAK was just finished his review of CANAAN, the phone was ringing and it was fellow reviewer Angel and she seemed really pissed off of reviewing Puni Puni Poemy and she wanted me to meet her in a coffee shop but I told her I had another plans for today and after minutes of her persuading me, I decided to take up her offer and meet her there. On his way, he noticed a walking lynx following him on the way there.

When he got there, she motioned over to him to sit and then started explaining all about the strange box she had gotten in the mail. When she was done, she sighed and leaned back in her seat, not noticing the Lynx-boy sitting behind her. He didn't seem like he was fully interested in there conversation but yet, he was still listening.

MAK got over there and Angel starts to explaining about this box she gotten recently and although it seems nothing weird going and MAK thought it was just somebody wanting her to review schlocky anime just to mess with her and I told her to that somebody people will send the dumbest shit they can find.

"Oh? I didn't think it was so bad..." The Lynx piped up as he got up and joined them at the table, "So... what did you think of my little gift?" he asked Angel in a rather playful voice.
Angel glared over at him, growling, "Oh..... so Your Kurai.... I remember you from art school..." she lifted her nose up in the air (well, what could be considered a nose when she's a chibi) in the snobby look, "It was dreadful but nothing that would break me..."

So I heard a voice and there he was and it was that lynx that was following me earlier. From the ways of it, he really seem like some smug little punk and noticing the look of Angel's face, she is really not happy to see him. I heard part of his name.....Kurai something and from the looks of it, he seems like a very creepy stalker.

Angel turned her head away, "Nothing you can do could break me so quit the stupid trolling..."
"Oh I'm not done yet... I'll be able to break you down and begging me to stop sending you things...." he chuckled a bit, then turned to MAK, "And you as well I think. Since your such a good friend of hers... I think you would like to review this new one along with her..."

As Angel pretty much give him the proverbial middle finger and told him to quit the trolling, he went to block her and said that he will break her down and she will beg for his mercy.....and then he looks at me for some reason with that shit-eating grin of his and he basically wanted me to review whatever anime he picks alongside her. I thought he was bullshitting at first but he looked serious. That worries me.

He chuckled as he placed a finger to the side of his cheek, almost as though he was thinking, "Now..... I have been in the back allies a long time..."
"Doing what? Blow jobs for a bunch of men?" Angel asked under her breath to try and mess him up but it did no good.
"...And I have heard someone was running from the Anime Gods for quite a while. I wonder what they would do if they ever found out where he was...." He said without breaking the beat and threatening MAK.

So as he was giving his monologue and looking at me with his devilish grin, he mentioned the one group I have been running from. What he didn't know was that I would be able to get away faster then he could call them.

"Now... Both of you will review this show...." he said putting a DVD in front of Angel and MAK.
Angel looked down at it and hissed, "MONSTER RANCHER?"
Kurai smiled, "Of course... and now I want you to do the English version... not Monster Farm, the Japanese version..."

And so he said that show du jour.....is Monster Rancher. Angel looked in disguist at the cover and he also said that to review the English version of that show (instead of the original version Monster Farm) and I first thought "This guy....this clown can't be serious."

Kurai looked over at MAK as though he knew exactly what he was thinking, "And I mean all of it..." He gave a almost to cute smile which looked wrong on his face. Angel got up and glared at him, "Fine... I will play your little game... but I have a present for you as well...." she said and punched him hard enough to give him a shinner, then walked off.

So me and Angel agreed to do his deal and he means to finish all of the series....all 72 episodes and then after we agreed, Angel decked him out and give him a black eye. I walked over there and said, "Kurai means dark, right? Black eye? Dark eye? It works for you", and then I walked over his body and then said, "Asshole!" and walked out of there.

Kurai looked over to them, and then chuckled just a bit as he got up, "Ah... cute as ever, that Angel. Lets see just how long it will take for me to break her."

Genki was an average boy with a love for the game “Monster Rancher 200X”. After winning a disc from a tournament, he plays it and is pulled into the world of Monster Rancher. There he meets Holly and Suezo and joins them on the quest to find the phoenix which will save the monsters from the evil Moo.

My Thoughts: This is so a rip off of Digimon! I remember when I was younger, I liked it but seriously… now that I have watched so many anime shows and found out just how badly ripped off the other shows are, I feel a little like crying. Now please don’t take this the wrong way, it is a good show to a point but it takes so long to get to where it’s getting good that most people would probably conk out of it. It’s good for what it is, a children’s show, nothing more and nothing less.

We start out with the main character, Genki who is pretty much Ash Ketchum in school. He is overactive, over annoying, and most of all, over stereotypical of these types of shows. He gets sucked into the video game (like Digimon) and has to help collect monster discs (like Pokemon) to unlock the power that is inside (like Yugioh). He fights monsters (like all three) and makes friends with the monsters he meets (like Digimon and Pokemon). They end up getting lost on their travels (Like Pokemon), sometimes wondering aimlessly around the world (like Digimon) and… WHAT THE FUCK? Did the creators have no imagination for this series or is this plot so generic that we can’t make a decent show like this without ripping off another?

The storyline of Alan, in the episode ‘Eternal Worm’ (Ep 4), was actually rather sweet at the end and made me feel something briefly for the show. It was one of the most intense sad scenes in this show. Another character that I actually really like and feel emotion to is the wolf-like tiger called ‘Tiger of the Wind’. I guess I’m just a sucker for anything like a wolf. He seems very spiritual and has wonderful philosophy. His story line is sad and yet seems the most logical of the group.

When Genki does end up making his own character, all he seems to make is something that looks like a pink little thing and actually called itself Mochi when it first appeared, becomes called Sweet Cake by him in the first episode. Then after, they call him Mochi like they should have done in the first place!

So… is the bad guy a cow or something? Because calling the bad guy Moo really doesn’t make him sound any scarier then the little pink squash ball Mochi. Seriously, are we supposed to get milk from this thing? And if so, then I want none of that milk!

So, I’m sort of going to spoil something for you since this is two seasons lumped together (Because Fox kids is a dick like that), Genki does get back home (Shocker… really? *Sarcastic*) and they use the same stupid little storyline as Digimon where only a couple hours passed when he was in the Monster world for months to about years. But it comes at the end of the first season. So my question is, why did they decide to have a second season where he goes back? They could have left it wonderfully when Genki got back and gave us that heart felt ending to the whole series. Something tells me that they just used it to sell more items and that’s exactly what it feels like. And that’s not the only problem because this one ends with a big hole in the plot. It doesn’t let it end like the first season.

The artwork is alright, pretty standard for the time period it came out in. Some of the monsters feel like they were stolen from other anime series. Faces don’t seem to keep their shape, sometimes showing big cheeks once in a while and then no cheeks at all. Bodies don’t stay the same sometimes as all, making it a little mediocre.

The opening English song is really stupid and is like a rap mixed up of Yugioh, Digimon, and Pokemon. They also seem to have something similar to the poke-rap. Then we have the English script… now I have not been able to see the Japanese version but please tell me they do not use this stupid line ‘…then he can turn all the baddies into goodies…’ Please tell me they aren’t so stupid as to do that? Genki is one annoying boy, to the point of me shouting ‘SHUT THE FUCK UP!’ He also calls out ‘IN THE ZONE!’ which feels like they were trying to just make a saying. It sounds as annoying as Naruto’s ‘BELIEVE IT!’ saying. Alan’s voice sounds better then almost all of the characters and that says a hell of a lot. He isn’t the best but he’s the better of them.

A week had passed since Kurai had forced Angel and MAK into reviewing 'Monster Rancher'.
Angel smiled as she walked into a museum near her home town. She had always wanted to see the place as she was a very big history buff. She luckily won a ticket at a store she often went to so was going to make the most of it.
Walking threw all of the exhibits was wonderful until she came to the Dinosaur exhibit. As she looked up at the T-Rex skeleton, she heard a familiar voice, "He really is rather big, isn't he?"
She glared over at the Lynx sitting on the railing, "You know, I can get a restraining order if you keep following me around like this...."
"So, how you like my little gift?" he asked, ignoring what she said.
"It didn't break me if that's what you hope."
"Ah... but your close..." he said smiling a bit as he got off the rail and stood next to her.
"Not even close... now please leave me alone..." she said as she started walking away.
"Tell me something... do you know the names of Dinosaurs?"
"Not much...." she said, "But I probably know more then you......"
"Ah but with this you can know so much more... I have another review for you...." he said sweetly and held up a strange card.
"Oh now come on... You already gave me one about a game. Can't you be a little more original..." she chuckled.
"Oh? And do you know who dubbed it?"
She smacked her head with her hand, "Oh for the love of... please tell me its not..."
"I challenge you to review Dinosaur King... the 4kids version of course...."
"I hate you..." Angel glared at him, "Lets get this over with...."

Dinosaur King(Feb 4, 2007 – Jan 27, 2008)
Director: Katsuyoshi Yatabe
Adventures, Action,
Key Words: Dinosaurs, Card Game, Battles,
Studio: Sunrise Licensed American Publisher: 4Kids Entertainment, Shout Factory

Episodes: 79

Max Taylor is the son of a rather well to do Paleontologist and so every moment of his life has to do with dinosaurs. After seeing a meteor fall to the ground one morning, he and his friends Rex and Zoe go to investigate, finding three stones and a card with a Triceratops on it. After rubbing the card on one of the stones, it activates Chomp, the Triceratops. Unfortunately, they are not the only ones now looking for the dinosaurs, a group calling themselves Alpha Gang is also looking for them.

My Thoughts: Welcome to Digimon… I mean Dinosaur King. Really, all this is seems to be a rip off of Digimon since it feels like Digimon Tamers. And then we have the bad guys that feel like they are from Pokemon and now everyone is coping the two biggest shows that hit before this.

The characters are pretty annoying, and seem only like spitting images of three main types of Digimon children. We have your standard goggle wearing (or in this case, horn visor that seems to light up for some unknown reason?) leader who is over active and doesn’t know when to stop, Max. The more level headed boy who seems to actually think, Rex. And then we have the whiny little girl, Zoe.

Let’s start with Max… well… He’s stupid. For a guy who is really into Dinosaurs, when he first meets Chomp, he doesn’t seem to have any clue what it eats. For those playing the home game, they eat plants. He also came up with ‘Dino Slash’ which feels like a rip off of ‘Go Poke ball!’

Rex is pretty smart for as smart as a character can be in here (That isn’t much by the way…). I’m surprised that he is so grown up since his father is exactly like Doc Taylor. He has the Dino Carnotaurus he called Ace. He has a lot of problems with Ace in the fact that he keeps running around a lot in the first part of the series. They ended up leaving it to Zoe to figure out why though instead of Rex which kind of pisses me off. He should be the one to figure out his own dinos? Not only that, but wasn’t the stones supposed to help read the minds of the dinos so they could know what they are thinking?

Rex and Max also have the same complex of who is the leader that any Digimon show has. They bicker about what the right way and the wrong way of doing things.

Zoe seems to be a bit thrown to the side. She has a Parasaurolophus named Paris and how she got that name feels the same as someone calling a Panda Pan or a Tiger Tig… It is just because of the type of dino she has. She normally only uses healing cards and has a rather gentle Dino instead of a fighting dino like the other two. In shows like this, they seem to always throw the women into that area… in Pokemon, Misty was a water Pokemon expert, and only water pokemon it seems… in Digimon, the women were always getting pushed around or not seen very much. When they did get a crest, it was love or serenity instead of a strong one. It’s not that those aren’t strong in there own way but my point is that women get gibed in these shows.

Max’s father is a little odd. Somehow, he knows a lot about the stones the kids have right away, thinking that the thoughts of the dinosaurs are trapped within them. He seems to explain the stones like he knows exactly what they are used for and what can be done with them in the second half of the first episode. I seem him somewhat like a clumsy Indiana Jones in a child’s cartoon, or maybe Professor Oak. His assistant, Dr. Reese Drake, is very monotoned and never really shows much emotion even when she is angry or embarrassed. Once in a great while at the end, she does seem to lighten up but other then that, no emotion. We could just have a computer instead of her and we wouldn’t be missing much. There doesn’t even seem to be much reaction between Zoe and Dr. Drake even though they are sisters.

Let’s talk about the villains now. Pretty much, Doctor Z would really be the father of Eggman with the outbursts and trying to take over the world lines. He wants to be king of the dinosaurs, and yet he can’t even take care of his own minions. His minion (and stepson), Ed, is so stupid, he doesn’t even know how to spell Z’s name for crying out loud! I most of the time want to call him Meoth and have him meow like him. Ursula always acts like the queen, commenting on her looks and acting as though she should be taken care off (Much like Jessie from Team Rocket). She also gets bitten a lot by dinos. Her stepbrother Zander seems to be like James in that he tries very much to make her feel good.

So, we can now talk about what a really stupid idea it was to make a Dinosaur Card Game for children who probably couldn’t pronounce the damn names of the Dinos! I mean, what child would know exactly how to pronounce Carnotaurus and Cryolophosaurus? I mean I can’t even pronounce them and I’m 23! Another thing that is rather strange is the fact that they brought in battle fields into the show about 9 episodes in. It is rather confusing.

The 3D animation stuff they have in the opening is really bad. The models look very broken and dinosaurs were never meant to actually dance. They seem to flop around without any reason. It’s also the same in the actual show. Models brake pretty badly and feel as though they would be better animated then CG. The only thing they did right was showing the breathing of the dinos. Textures are also really crappy looking like they are pixilated. The transformations make me want to yell out ‘DIGI EVOLUSION!’ because it acts pretty much the same. The 2D animation actually looks better and the dinos in that form look cute too. So much that I might have wanted one as a partner too.

Warning, it was 4kids dubbed and when people say that they messed up a lot of shows, they probably included this one in that. The voices of the main characters are really bad. Zander and Ursula sound so much like Team Rockets Jessie and James that I normally feel like I’m watching Pokémon instead. The stupid little puns they forced into the show feel like there are way too much. We can’t go five seconds without that.

The music is support to be upbeat and fun but it sounds like they were forcing it, it doesn’t fit this at all. I can’t really stand the opening song and the background music feels like it’s ripped from Sonic X.

My Thoughts: This is… I have no idea how to talk about this show. The whole idea of the show is that it has one small plot and then thrusts all of the most awkward timing and puns into the show. It also has so many love triangles in it that it you never know whats going on.

Tenma is rather a dunce and can’t do most things right although she does have her times where she actually seems a bit smart (example, when she is trying to get out of the girls bathroom without Karasuma seeing her) only to have it thrust back at her. She is scatter brained and has as much sence as a bag of rice but deep inside, she has a heart of gold. She tries to make everyone happy including her love, Karasima. She is so scatter brained that when Haruma tries to confess his love to her, she doesn’t get it. She has this really interesting way of talking as though she is talking to a little kid or is herself a little kid. It’s odd because her younger sister actually acts more like an older sister then she does.

Harima is a really odd character in that he acts a lot like a bad ass and has trouble looking like a nice guy even when he is around the girl of his dreams. For instance, in the second episode, since Harima has been coming to school every day now, his classmates suspect he is planning a bomb threat! When he starts to laugh, they believe he is planning something worse. I consider him not as dumb as Tenma since he actually has street smarts but on the other hand, it isn’t that much smarter.

Karasuma is more of the mysterious side character rather then a main character. He might be the object of Tenma’s affection, but he rarly shows up in the show. He is just a silent person who sits there and blends into the background except for the really odd things he does like rides his bike fast or dressing as a Kappa in the rain.

There are so many characters that I can’t talk about all of them or I would be here all day. From Tenma’s friends to Haruma’s strange antics, this show pretty much jumps all over the place. And why do I like such a zany show like this when I hate Puni Puni Poemii? Well, for starters, this show does stop itself from time to time from going to out of control. It holds back many times while other times, the stuff feels spaced out.

Some people don’t like how scattered around this show is, pretty much like Azumanga and Lucky Star but I have to say, at least this show has some sort of plot and sticks to it slightly. I do have to say there are pretty much no adults in this show to stop them from doing stupid things. It’s really all over the place.

The art is actually pretty fun and energetic. It’s all over the place depending on the mood but the artwork never goes against the mood. It keeps it flowing till such a time that they feel its time to jerk us back from it. Sometimes it’s so detailed, and sometimes its really abstract.

The English voices are really good, making me smile. They matched all the voices pretty well to how the characters act and even some of the Japanese voices. There really isn’t much else to say about it.
