In the middle of the night, Kai was in the living room watching a romance anime, but unfortunately it really didn't help due to the last few days here with her just finding out about MAK's Blue Leaf power and the two of them haven't talked to each other in 3 days.

Akuma walked down and noticed her sitting there, then pounced on her to try to make her smile, "HEY!" she called out, hugging her, "What's with the sad face?"

"Oh. Hey, Akuma." Kai said with the sad expression, "I'm just.....going through a very rough patch the last few days and apparently watching Ai Yori Aoshi wasn't the right call." Then she buried her face in a pillow, not to cry, but just so she wouldn't have to deal with anything this instant.

Akuma frowned, then said gently, "What if you reviewed it? That way you can point out all the shit they did with it."

Then Kai begin to frown a little less, "Actually, that's not a bad idea. I have been wanting to review this anime for a while. Wait, Akuma, didn't Angel reviewed this before?"

"Ya... but that doesn't mean you can't..." Akuma said smiling, "It's never to late to review something. I know she partners with MAK from time to time on reviews. She could probably partner with you."

"OK." Kai said. "You said that Angel is a night person, so she must be awake right about now." She then got up from the couch and went to find Angel to help with this review.

Angel was actually in the study, working on some art project she was going to sell. She was so distracted by wrapping a small paper bead that she didn't notice Kai walking in.

Kai walked into the study and then tap Angel on the shoulder, "Um.....Angel? I don't mean to bother whatever you're doing, but can you help me with this review of Ai Yori Aoshi? Please?"

Angel jumped, letting go of the wrap and it fell apart. She growled a little at the mess of paper she now had to reroll and then turned and sighed at Kai, "Sure... just... lets do this while I wrap these beads. I really need to finish this before tomorrow."

"Ok." Kai said, as both of them began to do the review.

    Episodes: 12

Kaoru Hanabishi is an average Collage student living on his own in Tokyo. Since he is the oldest son of the Hanabishi family and so to be the head of the Hanabishi Zaibatsu. Sadly, long ago, his mother had to leave the house because his father and her never married. Because of this, he had a difficult family life and when he was old enough, he left not wanting to have anything to do with the family. Unfortunately, he left Ai-chan, his arranged fiancée behind. Now she has come back into his like, full of love for him. Can they really work this out?

After reviewing the anime, Kai did wanted to say how one of the characters from the show mirrors herself in some way, but as Kai can tell from Angel's expression and her working on her beads, she really doesn't want to be disturbed, so she went to Akuma again.

Akuma sighed shaking her head, "It's a lovely story... just messed up with adding a harem...."

"True. And the reason why most of it depresses me is because of the character of Aoi." Kai said, "The reason why is because while she's adorable, she's just nothing but some Mary Sue who doesn't do much but be someone's wife.....and the reason why I'm depressed is I feel like that now around everyone here." Then Kai sat down on the couch and said to Akuma, "It's like you and Angel are Wiccans with Magic, Kurai is kinda the same...almost and recently I found out that MAK is......" She didn't want to say anymore than that.

"But your special because your none of those things...." Akuma pointed out.
Angel nodded in agreement, "Your special because your different then us. Your more 'normal' and besides, you can make MAK do anything you want. Even I can't make him do some stuff without threatening him or turning him into a women."

Kai wiped a tear from her face and said, "Yeah, that's true. Even though MAK wouldn't lay a finger on me. He's not that type of guy. I'm just mad at him for not telling me about it in the first place; and hearing it from those two dickheads, Rick and Dice, are already torturous enough......and yes, I know you and Kurai attacked them earlier," Then Kai smiled at her and said, "Nice job by the way."

Angel nodded, "Thanks, I believe those bite marks are permanent on them as well. We kind of bit hard."

Then Kai thought of one more thing to mention to them, "......and there's the part when MAK and I kissed.......passionately......even though I'm still mad at him, we had to confess it, since he vowed to never keep a secret from me ever again."

At that, Angel and Akuma blushed a bit, then smiled at each other, "Well, now we have another thing to tease him about," they giggled.

    Digimon Adventures, Dejimon Adobenchā (Mar 7, 1999 – Mar 26, 2000)

    Action, Adventure, Comedy-Drama
    Key Words: Computers, monsters, evolutions,
Studio: Toei Animation Licensed American Publisher: Saban

    Episodes: 54

On a summer camping trip, the weather has been messing up as a snow storm happens out of no where. Tai, Matt, Sora, Izzy, Mimi, Joe, and T.K. find strange devices in the snow and when they pick them up, they are transported into the digital world where they meet there Digimon partners and try to save the digital world before it affects the real world worse.

My Thoughts: When I was really little, I fell in love with the show but I didn’t know how chopped up the English dub was. Now that I’m older and know more anime, have watched shows that come straight from Japan, and have actually noticed when the voices are re-scripted, I can tell I actually missed a lot of the story line because of the re-script. This show was not created for young kids in the American idea. They pretty much did a ‘4 kids’ on it though luckily, they didn’t do it to much. The whole idea of ‘children should be left clueless’ makes me feel a little stupid. If children are clueless about the world, with things like pain or dying, then the will be shocked when it happens around them in the real world. It’s strange that they did this because even as a small child, I knew what was happening to the characters without anyone saying anything, so the change that they did was unneeded.

The story was originally going to be 12 episodes and then because of how well it was received, they added more episodes. Now, I am still on the edge about if this was a good thing or not. I liked that they put more depth into the characters and the story lines made sure you could see the characters grow. Unfortunately, as with all shows that have way too many characters in the spotlight, we end up seeing more of one character then the others. Also some grow to a certain point and don’t really grow beyond that. This annoys me because it means that they really don’t seem that important. (Although if you watch Digimon Adventures 02, this one seems better in character development.) I would have loved to see more of the characters backgrounds rather then little bits of three or four characters.

Out of all the characters, I have to say my favorite is Matt. I’m not sure exactly why I fell in love with him but maybe it’s because I have a little brother as well. I found it interesting that his name was changed when they took it to English dubs, but I learned after that it is pretty normal.

The bad guys are very one dimensional. They are only against the others just because they are programmed too; at least, that’s how it sounds. I wish they could have added a bit more to them but at least they each have a type of personality.

The English voices are pretty good and bounce off each other nicely. I really don’t like one or two of the characters though. If I have to listen to Mimi crying again though, someone will end up being hurt. She is so annoying in her voice that I really wish they had changed it a bit.

It has been about 4 years since the kids came back from the Digital world but there have been a dark human that is taking over the world again. With three new children going to the world with them, can they stop the human?

My Thoughts:Well, there back but not the main characters. At least, only two of the main characters from the old show are actually main characters in this one. Unfortunately, they have the same problems from before as well.

TK, although grown up a little too much, acts young a lot and Kari again is little miss Jesus with how perfect she is. Really, she seems to do nothing wrong with how caring she was. The other characters pretty much ether don’t grow, don’t change, or something around that until they hit a certain point and by then, I had lost interest in them. I think part of this was because that they seemed to be made to be the embodiment of two characters from the older show.

Davis is supposed to be Tai and Matt, Cody is Izzy and Joe, and Yolei is supposed to be Mimi and Sora. The only character that actually grew is Ken and actually, he replaced my favorite character, even if he was the bad guy for half the season almost.

The two that really never stood out to me was Yolei and Cody. They just really didn’t have much screen time and seemed like the whole show could have just left them out and let it be Davis, Kari, and TK as the main characters.

Now, Yolei feels like she was made as the exact opposite to Mimi in the first season. She had many brothers and sisters and was rather poor, but yet she kept whining and complaining like Mimi so it only sent a message to me that no matter what, girls will become bitchie no mater what… not the best to send to young women. With Cody, there really wasn’t anything to talk about.

The voices are so off. I really don’t know who decided to have these characters sound the way they do but its worse then the first. T.K. sounded like he hit puberty faster then anyone else. His voice was not the voice of a young kid but of a much more teenage adult style. The other characters and I’m talking the main characters, sound pretty raspy or like Kari, has a harsh voice like she always has a stuffy nose.

    Digimon Tamers, (Apr 1, 2001 – Mar 31, 2002)
Director:Yukio Kaizawa Written by: Chiaki J. Konaka Music: Takanori Arisawa
    Action, Adventure, Comedy-Drama
    Key Words: Computers, monsters, evolutions,
    Studio: Toei Animation

    Episodes: 51

Takato is a Digimon crazy boy who plays the card games with his friends all the time. One day, he creates his own Digimon he names Guilmon and when he slips a strange blue card he found into his card reading device, it changes into a D-Power (or D-Arc). It is pretty much the same as a Digivice, giving a Digimon powers from the cards that are read. When Takato’s sketch is scanned threw the device, Guilmon was created and emerges from the Digital world to find him. It turns out that there are more blue cards and when found, the person becomes a Digimon partner. But it isn’t all fun and games when other Digimon are showing up and destroying the real world.

My Thoughts:When I was a little kid (Well, maybe not so little as I was in middle school) I got very confused with this show. I didn’t understand what the hell was going on because Digimon Adventures was the show I grew up with. I thought that they would keep the same characters, the same sort of story and so on. I was wrong. What I got was a new story with new Digimon and humans, a new story and so on. I found out so much later that the plot of this show was more that the first two shows, Digimon Adventures and Digimon Adventures 02, were a TV show that the children of this show watched. Also, it seemed that Digimon was actually a card game that the children of this world played. And here is where I give the show a ‘what the fuck’ stare and sigh.

So the story goes that Takato, a really big Digimon nerd, created a design for a Digimon and somehow it ended up coming to life. This… is a very strange concept here for me. All the other Digimon in this show have been alive in the Digiworld before the show even started. We are not told that any of them were created by their partners, just that they ended up with them. So how the hell did Takato who is the most childish of the group end up making his Digimon? It doesn’t explain a whole lot. Just that he thought he could put his notebook into his Digivice and it ended up scanning it somehow. It hurts my brain here.

So let’s talk about the characters, shall we? We have the typical characters in any Digimon show and pretty much any anime in general. The token leader, Takato, the second in command and the brains of the group, Henry, and the girl who doesn’t play nice with others, Rika. During the show, they grow and learn to play nice with each other, work together and all that like in every show like this but the main things about them stayed the same more or less. At least those are our first characters in the series but the sad part is when they bring more of the characters in during the second half. Many of whom felt like they were extras that shouldn’t have been brought into the show in the first place. They had no real personality that made them stand out and I still considered them background characters no matter what. The three in the beginning had so much more personality then the friends they brought with.

There is one character that is not from the main that I really need to talk about. Jeri is really really annoying to me. The first half of the show, she was one of the most annoying characters with her strange dog-like puppet. And then there is a point in the show that makes her even more annoying to me that just makes me roll my eyes but if I told you what happens, it would be a big spoiler for the show. The other characters were pretty much ‘strange friend’ and ‘glasses friend’, Jari really was the only one that had a actual concept that was not like anything else. Like I said, they did not stand out at all for me.

The artwork is alright, story of standard fair for a children's show. There are times when they end up going a little overboard with the CG art. It doesn’t feel like it really meshes with the rest of the art, making the show feel disjointed. This mostly only happens when the Digimon Digivolve or stuff happening in the Digiworld.

The voices were… alright for the most part. A couple I liked, a couple I hated, then there were people in between. I definitely hated the voice of the ‘to be continued guy.’ He opened the show as well which just felt so disjointed. I don’t even think that the voice actor had any other voice in the show; he was just for this to be continued and prologue of each episode. They could of at least had the characters in the show do it instead. It would have made more sense.

I didn’t get really into this series as much as I did the others, probably because they changed a lot of things that were set ideas in the first two seasons. There was no real defining rule of the show either. A lot of ‘rules’ of this world were thrown out again in the second half. Over all, it just felt bla.

    Elfen Lied, Elf Song (July 25, 2004 – Oct 17, 2004)
    Director: Mamoru Kanbe
    Drama, Psychological Horror,
Key Words: Blood, Gore, Nudity, Moe,
Studio: ARMS Licensed American Publisher: Aesir Holdings

    Episodes: 13

In Kamakura, Japan, there is a new race known as the Diclonius, a strange being that is mostly human but are on a different genetic level then humans in the sense that they have physical abnormalities that look like horns growing out the sides of there heads. One such creature is the pink haired girl Lucy, who had been locked up in high security for most of her life for experiments. She manages to escape, wreaking havoc on the facility until she was injured and disappeared.
On the beach across the way, two locals named Kohta and his cousin Yuka suddenly find her on the beach but in a childlike state, not able to even speak really. They name her Nyu and take her in, soon being caught in an unending struggle between protecting her from the Special Assault Team and learning about her violent tendencies.

My Thoughts: Warning, this is a highly graphic show. There is a large amount of Nudity, Gore, Blood, violence, and body parts being ripped off. If you are squeamish, this is not the show for you.

The story is actually extremely hard to understand and as of now, I have not read the Manga. If things are explained more in the Manga, then that’s fine but they should of also been explained in the show as well. At first, we follow a young girl named Lucy as she escapes from what looks to be a military base or some sort of lab. She kills everyone around her until finally being shot once and escaping. When she wakes up, she seems to be a whole different person as she acts like a little child who knows nothing of the world, including only saying the word Nyu. I am not going to liar, a lot of the stuff that happens with her, Kohta, and Yuka is really boring. It becomes a very slice of life story that just felt bla. The more exciting parts were with the other Diclonius coming out to play but even then it was rather confusing.

One of the main problems I had was that they never actually explained what Diclonius really were. All I really understood was that they were all female and they infected men so that children would be born as their kind. They also have a strange physic arm thing that can kill people yet go through walls. At least, go through walls when they wanted it to. At times, it felt like they couldn’t do some things just because of plot points. I think that was one of the problems main problems I had with the story, the fact that it all was set for plot reasons.

If you go past the gore and nudity, there is an interesting meaning behind this anime which is nice to see. Human’s want to get rid of the Diclonius while the Diclonius want to get rid of the humans. This tug of war seems to be similar to the mass genocide that happens in our own world. It’s not really about species fighting here, its more about Religions and ethnics fighting then anything else. Muslims against Jews, Blacks against Whites, and visa versa. Those are only examples and can be flipped around. Any group that wants to kill another group of people till there is no more. From what I can tell, the Diclonius were pretty much locked away right at birth, used to do tests on. I think that part made me side more with them instead of the humans.

The artwork can be very bright to very dark, with no real middle man in-between. I am not too much of a fan of the art style although I did love the beginning art based on Gustav Klimt’s design. Gustav Klimt was a famous Artist who did amazing work for those who did not take art history like I did. Studio ARMS made this and they are known for their satanic nudity shows, and I have to say, I think this one is the more tasteful. These are the guys who made La Blue Girl, Kite, Master of Martial Hearts, and Queen’s Blade… and those are all shows that I was not really ecstatic about.

The English voice acting is very bland and boring. A lot of talking was put in but none of it really made any sense when they got into the technical aspect. Kohta really felt like he didn’t care at all what was going on, yet he was one of our main characters. The music is the best part of the show sadly, with its dark yet tranquil feeling. One minute, it will have you in tears as the next moment; you have chills up your spine.

So overall, this show has to be one of the better animes I have seen come from Studio ARMS, though I can’t say it was the best. Though a lot of things about the dub and story felt like they dragged on, I did get curious about the overall message. At least see it once to say that you have seen it, but I wouldn’t really watch it again.
