read the book then watched the movie. i dont think it was that well made. there was too much camera shaking. pissed me off. and gale got so much air time. they barely mentioned him in the first book, or maybe i just didnt care. the cut scenes to president snow was a genius idea though.

and yeah i noticed it was really PG. i was kinda hoping that chick would explode like they said in the book but i dont mind it. but yeah, most of my complaints are not in the script, its camera angles that ruined it for me cuz i actually dont mind how they composed the story in the movie. i feel really conflicted on the lack of narration though cuz i watched with my friend who hasnt read it, this is where im feeling conflicted: whether it would have been better if the story was in katniss's point of view like in the book or not i dont really care though since i already read it.

There was definite changes in the movie but that's expected. I mean, it's a time and money vs accuracy kind of thing. I think everybody blows up too much about the little differences like the Mockingjay pin or the leg thing, it's stupid. You want them to hire another actress to be on screen for like.. three minutes in the first movie? They don't know if it's going to be a success or bomb and, you know, people would want someone 'big' as Marge, an unknown would mean all the critics would harrass them about how Marge is so important and stuff. But they just can't afford to hire another bigshot actress to be in a movie for three minutes and then pretty much never again. And the leg thing, I mean, do you want them to computerize and edit EVERY SINGLE SCENE for the next two movies?
Treat the movies and books and individuals.

They all get top marks from me.

But the point of the 'shaky camera' was to give it an indie feel so it didn't look and feel like a big budget action movie. I thought that that was part of the appeal because it reflected the setting of the Hunger Games and the idea of a rough propaganda reality TV show really well. You need to remember that the heart of THG isn't in the violence but the political conflict.

did you just tell me(in fancy terms) they wanted to make it look cheap ;D haha peace, i get ya. but yeah anyways, i agree the political conflict. thats why i said that the jump cuts to president snow was a genius idea. i was just saying i was kinda hoping to see that chick exploding

The only thing I am disappointed about is that I DIDN'T read the books before the movie came out! When the series first came out, I didn't want to read it because it didn't really interest me.
Boy was I wrong!
The movie was excellent! I laughed a little, sat on the edge of my seat, and cried! So the movie was totally awesome in my opinion. Even though, I have to say, they did leave some out, but as I learned, you can't have a long movie!

Most of The Hunger Games (first book) was filled with makeout sessions between Katniss and Peeta though...
