So I made a thread like this last season (I think) and thought I should make one for this season too. The winter lineup is almost over and there are gonna be new titles for us to watch next season, Spring. I thought we should rank, review and rate the anime that we've seen so far this season.

Top 3.
1.Chihayafuru - It's just AMAZING, original story as well, didn't know about such a game till I watched this.
2.Mirai Nikki (TV) - Keeps me on the edge of my seat each episode.
3.Hunter x Hunter (2011) - Never saw the original series and had a watch and got hooked straight away.

Runners up:
Ano Natsu de Matteru - Only half way through this, but I find it very funny and seems interesting enough.
What about: The Knight in the Area - Another series Im really getting in to, thought I wouldnt because its a sport genre, not a big fan on sport genre.

Bottom 3
Not really in any order but I dropped these as I just couldn't get in to them and when I read the synopsis for them I thought I would like them but obviously I didn't...shame.
Phi Brain: Kami no Puzzle
Black★Rock Shooter (TV)
Mouretsu Pirates

1. Chihayafuru - Not only do I love slice-of-life and sports/games subject matter but this show executes it's story and showcases it's characters brilliantly.

2. Another - A great display of mystery and ambience.

3. Hunter x Hunter - Love an anime with a great sense of adventure and keeping in mind the quality of it's predecessor this show has not disappointed one bit.

-Runner up- Natsume Yuujinchou - Always worth watching but has really picked up the pace considering how slow the previous season was.

Haven't watched much else so I won't bother discussing a Bottom 3.

Top 3. (give short review)

1. Another - I can almost guarantee that this series will make any anime fan's Monday enjoyable. With only 1 episode left to air , this series is a masterpiece in my book. It has great suspense, characters, drama, art, music, voice acting, and does what it does best: create that horror and psychological theme that I'm sure most of us can enjoy. The latest episode (#11) puts that tension which has been building the previous 10 and literally throws it into our eyes. This series is no shadow of a fucking doubt my top #1 so far this season.

2. Mirai Nikki (TV) - Yet another great series that I would like to mention. I wasn't too familiar with this series at first but after watching the OVA as well as the first episode, I was convinced to watch. The art is amazing and the OP songs are great. The various characters and their conflicting personalities tie together the series with a very decent storyline that is enjoyable. The music is also nice, worthy of being in a playlist or being played while driving on the road. Great series overall so far.

3. Guilty Crown - this one was a bit difficult to pick as I was stuck between several other series. However, after watching it recently, I decided to pick it due to its superior animation, characters, and music. On the storyline part, I'm not too sure if it fits into the masterpiece department. I am sure about one thing though: I enjoyed this series.

-Runner ups- (optional)

Nisemonogatari - alot better than I thought. I originally watched Bakemonogatari awhile ago and didn't give into too much thought of it. Guess I wasn't used to Shaft's uniqueness and their style of word play. This series is pretty damn good after watching it weekly on CR and now I'm platinum mad that it's over.

Ano Natsu de Matteru - well, I was surprised when I watched this @ first. I thought it would be some romance drama like Onegai Teacher or Bokura ga Ita. However, after watching it up to episode 10, I'm safe to say that this series is enjoyable.

Bottom 3 (give short review)

1. Inu x Boku SS - tbh, I liked this series at first (well, the first 2 episodes anyways). However, the seemingly lack of storyline in the middle as well as the prototypical of the overall theme gave me a bad impression hence this pick.

2. Area no Kishi - an underrated series. This is close to a drop due to its lack of popularity as well as its seemingly repetitive storyline. I'm considering the manga rather than continuing watching.

3. Mouretsu Pirates - after watching episodes 1-2, I chose to watch Rinne no Lagrange instead. Why? Because the series has a better OP song imo and more action. I may be wrong though as the action may have picked up by now but when I watched it, the series just kinda dropped the ball and now it's on-hold for me and will remain there for awhile till I hear good things about this show.

I hope Spring Season can top this although I do admit that this Winter Season did meet my expectations this year around.

Honestly, I haven't watched as much anime this season as I used to. I actually used to watch about 90% of the anime being currently aired in a season at once. But, time constraints have forced me to cut back seriously.

1. Chihayafuru - I gotta say, when I saw the description of an anime about karuta, I was interested already. I've seen so many good animes about things you'd never expect to be good, like Hikaru no Go, and Yakitate Japan. Still to this day, I remember the first words out of my mouth when I heard what Yakitate Japan was about "It's an anime about bread?!" I saw it, and it became my number one favorite anime of all time. So watching Chihayafuru and all the twists and turns that come about from a simple premise, that is awesome. I'll be sad when it ends.

2. Amagami SS Plus - I actually watched 12 episodes in this season last night. 4 hours straight, and every episode was spot on full of emotion. I saw the first season, so I knew what to expect to a certain point, but this season blew those expectations clear away. I laughed so hard in so many episodes, and the ending nearly made me cry, even though I saw it coming a mile away. Nakata Sae is still my favorite girl in that anime.

3. Nisemonogatari - After watching Bakemonogatari, I was gonna watch this. I put this anime third simply because I was a little disappointed. The story seemed to move slower than the previous season, but it had its great points. The ending was kinda disappointing. The animation is absolutely perfect as was the previous season.

-Runner Up-

New Prince of Tennis - I love Prince of Tennis. I love watching the anime. I guess it kinda killed my excitement since I read the manga. I was hoping they'd have more tennis matches than what wasn't shown in the manga, hopefully as a filler since I'm sure it'll end at some point since the manga comes out ridiculously slow.

There was at least one anime missing from the fall lineup that I believe is still in effect now, and that is Shakugan no Shana III. I've yet to start watching it, but since I've watched it since the beginning, I'm clearly going to.

Oh yes, I have no bottom 3, since I mentioned before I haven't seen a lot of current anime.

1. Ano Natsu de Matteru, it has been a very long time where the protagonist isn't some emo faggot which really appealed to me. This anime provided a very smooth transition and the plot very clearly laid out for the viewers.

2. Amagami SS plus *specifically haruka's arc* it had a slam dunk ending I am a sucker for the happy couple endings.

3. High school DxD again the protagonist isn't some emo faggot, the anime actually had a story behind the fanservice. Even more so with the demonic theme getting naked to preform rituals isn't unheard of.

Bottom 3

1. Guilty Crown, it was such a let down. It had an excellent start first two episodes great, execution was wonderful made a hard impact classic boy meets girl. Episode 3 cliche transition; however it was needed because that was story development. Then it died and then someone dug up the grave and spat on it and proceeded to take a shit on it. Even the ending couldn't fix the train wreck*not as much as dragonauts* .

2. Shana final, I just didn't know wtf was going on simple and clear to me "i didn't know what they were dong" however that ending omfg it was great.

3. nisemonogatari dialog moe blob, didn't have the same effect as bakemonogatari. ask youself how many times in each episode you went

HNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH MOEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! and didn't know why you're watching it.

Runners up will be here and they will be explaining why i put the bottom 3 as bottom 3

1 ep 1-5 cut 6-15 and continue with 16-22 and you'll still get what the anime was about

2 cut the whole thing make it an 6 ep ova and you'll still get the whole thing again that fucking ending was god tier

3 less moe blob and more story and character development well more story development characters are fine.

I wasn't sure if I should be thinking too much since I'm sick and can't think for the hell of things but I decided to talk about some animu.

Top 3 (in no particular order):

Aquarion EVOL
OSORE, glorious soundtrack, awesome characters - both design and personality wise -, Kawamori stylin', Aquarion returns 12,000 years later. It's a time of romance, except there won't be any because if love develops between two characters the world is doomed. Aquarion EVOL is a fun show to watch with the budding romance between characters and their interactions. The story has yet to fully develop but it's getting damn awesome. Despite being a sequel to its predecessor, Genesis of Aquarion, Aquarion EVOL is great standalone series. It's actually far better than Genesis which is why Aquarion EVOL is great in comparison to it. It has mecha, romance, glorious OST, and - JUST GO WATCH IT.

Another

One of the best shows of Winter. Those who dig horror flicks will enjoy this damn glory. The songs aren't all too nice but this thing is fun to watch and speculate - at least until you get spoiled. Spoilers aside, the show has great animation, the coloring makes it ominous, and the story is fun to watch unravel. However, it has some flaws - which may be fixed by the finale - the 'Another', extra class member, isn't really fully explained at this point (episode 11). Nonetheless, Another is a great horror show to watch in the dark.

No third choice.

Honorable mentions:

Nisemonogatari

Nisemonogatari is very different from its predecessor, Bakemonogatari. Firstly, the stories arcs are in a complete new direction and instead of focusing on the supernatural aspect of the show, it falls into the 'fanservice' category. Hey, don't get me wrong, nothing is wrong with the fanservice. In fact, it's so damn well orchestrated that SHAFT should consider making hentai. In fact, the show may be, in fact, a "fake" version of Bakemongoatari. Grab a toothbrush, watch this with your little sister, and enjoy it.

Bodacious Space Pirates

Pirates. In. Space. Hella awesome is what I can say but the show doesn't always captivate my interests. The pirate(er) aspect is interesting and the space aspects draws me in but the story doesn't always make me care. The show is still fun to watch though, and the characters develop as the story goes. Some will come for the space pirates and stay for the story but I'm staying for the space pirates. The show doesn't really offer much action either but it holds it own nonetheless.

Bottom 3 (in no particular order)

Guilty Crown

DROPPED ALL WEEK, EVERY WEEK. Seriously, I tried to enjoy this show and I did on very few episodes but I just couldn't do it. I tried to watch it brainlessly and it was just a hassle. The show should had ended at episode 12. It has awesome character designs and music but that's all it really has to offer. The story was a mess, plot twists were bullshit, the characters were terrible and argh. I don't want to talk about it. It ripped off so many things - which I don't mind - but this was one big mess.

(More will come...)

The other stuff/what category

Highschool DxD FOR THE TITS. For the tits, my friends.

Amagami SS+ Come for your favorite girls, stay for your favorite girls.

Daily Lives of High School Boys Nice lives, dudes, why can't mine be as interesting? Lit. Girl is OLEV, too.

1. Natsume Yuujinchou Shi. Not the best of the Natsume series but arguably the best of this season. The perfect pacing, great animation and music, the lovable characters from the past seasons, and the laid back atmosphere that gives me warmth whenever I watch it, make this anime worth watching all the way through.

2. Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou. This season's hidden gem. Seriously, this is one of the funniest anime I have ever seen. It probably comes second to Gintama's humor. Cute animation, good music and hilarious characters. This is definitely a must watch for comedy and slice of life lovers.

3. Another. The fan favorite of the season. Well what's not to like? The animation is the best I've seen in years, the creepy music that goes with the eerie atmosphere of the show is good, and the characters that give off these scary-mysterious feel without even trying. And did I mention the animation is absolutely brilliant?

Runner-ups:
4. Hunter x Hunter (2011). I just hate how bright and colorful this one seems to be compared to dark and gloomy 1999 version. Other than that I have no more problem with it.
5. Nisemonogatari. Or one might say, Pornomonogatari. Lol still has the flawless animation and long dialogues. It could have been top 3 material if it weren't so... fanservice-y.
6. Chihayafuru. Put it on-hold because the story was taking too long to develop. The animation and characters are great though.

Bottom 3

1. Phi Brain: Kami no Puzzle. Lol it's so bad I don't even want to talk about it.

2. Kill Me Baby. The jokes are forced and not funny. The characters are dumb and boring to watch. It's just a Lucky Star wanna be.

3. Gokujo. I thought it was good at first. But then they kept using the same old recycled jokes over and over again. Not gonna waste my 5 minutes on this ecchi crap.

Then you must know the second season is coming? I've ranted about how SHIT this anime is and will be; however there are those that still defend this junk for an anime. Glad to know that I'm not the only one that is sensible to know when an anime is complete SHIT.

also by talking about how bad it is you've talk about it, how will you fix this oxymoron?

Yes I am aware that there is a second season on the way.
But I honestly don't know why they're doing this. Like you said, it's shit.

I'm saving a page right now so i can tally up the rankings since not all are done yet, but this is my ranking so far.

Top 3. (give short review)
1.Chihayafuru- ugh... so sad this anime is ending. It's got a good mix of romance and suspense. Gotta admit, I'm loving the balance of the two.
2. Another - if my girlfriend screamed out of horror when watching this, then it's definitely scary. Hopefully, the ending doesn't ruin its 2nd spot
3. Nisemonogatari - loving the dialogues. I loved Bakemonogatari and I certainly enjoyed this season as well. Sure it was slow pacing but that's because the focus of this season is only 2 girls (somewhat 3?) compared to 5.
-Runner ups- (optional)
Natsume Yuujinchou - i just love the pacing, this could move up to 3 very easily but i just find that natsume pretty much stayed the same and didn't add anything new this season but background story on natsume... so far.
Bottom 3 (give short review)
1. High School DxD - Ugh, i dropped at second episode. Just seemed like they went with the boobage too much for my taste.
2. Inu x Boku - I'm trying to watch it but it just too... eh. That "Inu" is getting annoying. The only good thing on that show is Karuta just because she's so "hnnng" :D
3. Familiar of Zero F - Is it just me or the pacing of the anime is way too fast, i feel like i missed an episode or two whenever i watch this anime

The ranking is subject to change for sure

1. Mobile Suit Gundam AGE- Still my top favorite cause of the Gundam fanwhore within me. I love the story and the current arc that is still running. Hope the third arc does not disappoint.

2. Another- Has me on the edge of my seat every week and I even jumped a couple times which is the first time in anime that I have. Lovely horror series can't wait to own it

3. Natsume Yuujinchou Shi- Another season of lovely art and heartwarming moments

-Runner ups-

Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou- Very hilarious, but some skits were not funny

InuxBoku SS- Pretty good series I love the character especially Watanuki and Karuta. Art is pretty generic, but nice to look at. Love the opening.

Guilty Crown- The plot was all over the place I just put it in runner ups cause everything else about the series was top notch like the music, art, characters, and their designs.

Mirai Nikki- Also keeps me on the edge of my seat every week.

Bottom 3
1. Kill Me Baby- The worst anime of this season I'm on episode 3 and I'm bored. I might smile when I see Aigiri, but thats it. Still better than Lucky Star since I got through the first episode.

Thats pretty much it for the moment.

Top 3. (give short review)
1. Persona 4: The Animation:

Persona 4 is definitely the high point of this somewhat exhausting game series. In anime form, it becomes absolutely amazing! Keeping the original OP for the first half was a nice touch, but beyond the music the storyline is incredible. INCREDIBLE. If you want a dark thriller that can still have its fun and lighthearted moments, this is it. The series is so down to Earth about its characters that it made me rage at certain villains and cry for certain heroes. It's tough to walk the tightrope between action, gritty storytelling, and humor, but I think Persona 4 has done an amazing job with it. I'm waiting on the finale with bated breath!

2. Another:

Being that I like the dark suspense horror genre, this show would've made #1 if Persona 4 weren't airing. The pacing can be slow sometimes, but the excellent artistic detail and creepy soundtrack work wonders on making this a wow factor show. Even the gore is finely detailed! One beef I have is the Rozen Maiden clone opening song which, unsurprisingly, is the same artist. >.>

3. Bodacious Space Pirates:

This show makes my top 3 (out of 5 total, lol) because I enjoy the concept behind it. Not every pirate show has to be all action and aggression! It's a nice change to see a level-headed main character who is very deliberate in her actions and is a pseudo-genius to boot. The way they make pirating legal in the story is absolutely brilliant because I have never heard of a legal pirate before this show. My one big gripe lies in the direction the story took recently. The series was doing excellent things and suddenly I'm having Golden Ley-line flashbacks from Outlaw Star! (Not nearly as good as Outlaw Star in this comparison, of course).

-Runner ups- (optional)

I have 1 runner-up that has made me think I'm a schizophrenic this season:

GUILTY CROWN

First of all, the music is BRILLIANT! Supercell is very highly regarded in Japanese pop for a reason, and Guilty Crown slams it home like it's no one's business. The concept of Voids were incredible as well. I've never heard of this concept prior to this series. The very real character of Shu is heartbreaking in his detailed life. This is the first character in years that I could sympathize with and root for. Hell, I cried when he did and felt rage when he did!

.....

And then the storyline came about. Either the story itself is a frenetic rush job, or the anime is woefully short on time to tell an expansive story. Either way, the pacing and sudden jumping of topics, locations, and even time frames jolted this series so bad that it broke. At the end of episode 12 and the finale episode I had no idea what happened. Things that were mentioned once, if at all, suddenly changed the entire landscape and BAM! the end. There wasn't even enough time to go WTF?!. My final complaint is regarding Shu the Tyrant. Shu the Tyrant was possibly the most spellbinding anime hero I have seen in the past 5 or 6 years. He was a good guy who warped into someone nearly evil and constantly fought himself to do evil for the greater good. As a character catalyst, it's something you would have seen in The Lord of the Rings and something I have N-E-V-E-R seen in anime. But alas, all good things must come to an end...so Shu the Tyrant, possibly the most inspiring piece of the entire series, got one episode. ONE EPISODE.

Ok, I'm done ranting about why Guilty Crown could have been the next Chaos;Head or even an improved MACROSS.

Top 3:
1: Mouretsu Pirates - I really like this series. Its a bit of a different take on space pirates but is still good. I like all the little details that go into this anime and think they bring greater depth to it. The only thing that I kind of dislike is that it leaves me wanting more as I'm always waiting for something more to happen.

2: Rinne no Lagrange - Another sci-fi series this season I like. The mecha battles have been pretty good and while the comedy is somewhat light it usually gets me to laugh. The plot and characters are good so far as well.

3: Kill Me Baby - This is just one of those animes that is stupidly funny. Its amusing to see all the ways Yasuna comes up with to annoy Sonya. The ending is very catchy too.

Honorable mentions:
Senki Zesshou Symphogear - I think this anime could have been a lot better had it gotten a higher production value as the animation really suffers among other things at times. Aside from that and the somewhat confusing plot its a pretty good anime though. The characters are generally likable and the action is flashy yet still nice to watch.

Black Rock Shooter - While short I enjoyed this anime quite a bit. The plot and characters both drew me in and the action segments are also good.

Persona 4 - This anime seems to follow the game quite well which is a very good thing in this case. The plot is good and it seems like nothing is left out from its source material. Despite having a serious story and lots of battles there are also quite a few comedic moments that are funny and lighten the mood of the anime.

Hunter x Hunter - While it feels kind of rushed compared to the original its still a good anime and the best parts of the original are coming up soon in the new anime.

Mirai Nikki - If this follows the manga well which I think it is then I would definitely consider this to be one of the better animes this season. The plot is very suspenseful and good throughout.

Bottom 3:
1: Guilty Crown - An anime that starts out promising quickly goes downhill. The plot has many holes and deus ex machinas and goes even further downhill during the second half. So many characters were either underused or overused throughout the anime. The worst part about this anime though is the main character Shu who I find to be one of the worst if not the worst main character I've ever seen in an anime.

2: Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou - This anime can be funny at times but a lot of it feels forced. The main reason I put it in the bottom three though is I just really dislike the way most of the girls are portrayed in this anime.

3: I don't really have anything to put at number three as there wasn't anything else I watched I disliked that much.
