Ok then, I think they were the grandparents of the guy who died from the heart attack...unless they changed it from the novel.

I really liked the series - I would actually say this is my favorite series yet (on Crunchyroll anyway). That being said, my biggest grievance is Mei. There was no real reason given for her nondisclosure beyond her weirdness (sparing sakakibara's feelings doesn't count, she knew the calamity had started and could see dead people well before she met him). With such a massive plot element based solely on her being weird, I really don't think her weirdness was adequately explained. Mei's life was tough, but no tougher than sakakibara's. She has a great new friend, and with the eyepatch pretty much handling the whole "I see dead people" thing, there's no reason for her to be as gloomy as she is.

Also, sort of fanboying here, I was kind of hoping they'd wind up together, and her utter lack of romantic response was disappointing. While her demeanor was cool and mysterious at the beginning (when there might have been a reason for it), it turns out she's just sort of a flat character. To sum up: she hangs out with creepy dolls, and doesn't really experience fear, joy, or love. Someone get that girl a Prozac.

I didnt know that the assistant teacher and Reiko were the same person until the end. All throughout the series, they were treated like different people.

Also, whats up with Sakakibara not remembering meeting Izumi before? They never explained that. Overall, I liked the series until the last 2 episode where It seemed stuff came out of nowhere.

According to wikipedia:

Ayatsuji has announced he will write a spin-off novel titled Another: Episode S and a sequel novel titled Another 2.

this seems interesting and I cant wait.

I guess when her twin sister died, it scared her mentally which I guess explains her behavior. Also maybe she got really used to being ignored since she was the non existent one.

I agree with the hair color but they did have the same voice actor if you read the wiki:

"Like her character Ms. Mikami, the voice actress Miyamaki Misayo is also "The Other." Cleverly, to throw off viewers, they created a fake voice actor name for Ms. Mikami and even a fake webpage. Miyamaki Misayo does not exist and if you rearrange the "ki" and "yo" in her name, it's "Yomiyama Misaki." The real voice actress is of course the same as Reiko, Naoko Sakakibara, which is revealed in the credits of Episode 12"

Wow, those clever devils...they did think of everything to deceive us with that...but I wish they would have revealed the information earlier like when she gave him the rules in that one episode. Thanks for pointing that out.

I think doing that, and even showing a closer relationship with he and Reiko would have made his final decision that much more powerful and heartaching.

However, the hair color, was just foolish in my opinion. (Unless she put some washable color in her hair everyday )

I read a couple of the chapters from the manga and there are some differences between the two. In the manga, Izumi does not die.

I loved it! It was kind of ocnfusing why Mei wouldn't just kill the 'dead' person, but I still enjoyed ot anime none of the less! And is this the total end of this show? Or are they going ot make a season 2? I hope that they do because it's my first Horror anime and I'm trying to get into Eflin Lied but I just can't :/ Does anybody know anime kind of like this?

The ending was fine (yet sad). But regarding to the opinion of others...Yes, the ending would have been better.

Its not really a plot hole that Mei didn't say anything. They didn't know that killing the extra person was the solution until that last day. until that point saying anything served no purpose because they didn't know how to stop it even if they did know who it was. making it an act of kindness to not say "you know it's your aunt that is making all of us suffer."
Once they did know what to do, I figure the reason the nice person didn't say anything at first was, and I would likely have a similar reaction of, how do you tell your closest friend that you have to murder their aunt to save everyone. An aunt who is completely innocent of everything other then she shouldn't exist, and is again not even aware of this fact herself.
then she tried to kill her herself, without him knowing, and never saying anything to save herself when she was attacked because he was there. not to mention the fact that everyone had gone crazy with fear and/or anger and wouldn't have listened to her if she said anything anyways.

Kind of surprised nobody commented on Kouichi's deficiencies, just Mei's...

After all, she told him at the end of episode 10 that she knew who the extra was. Accepting the suggestion that she's a completely amoral reclusive hermit (which is why she held onto her knowledge of Reiko for so long), shouldn't Kouichi have maybe pressed her a bit to get the name?

You know... Before the total bloodbath?

Didn't he say her full name in the last episode implying that he knows it's his aunt (and so should you). Actually I think it was let on in an early episode that he was only to address her formally at school, I could be getting my anime's mixed up though. Over all I thought this was a great series none the less. As for the ending, it left me asking a bunch of questions, especially seeing how the survivors of the last class to stop it seemed to end up.

I kept hearing bout this anime from alot of people. How bad ass it was. 'Since' some of them read the manga, not the anime.

I had my suspicion on the his Aunt & that guy teacher. but over all, it was one hell of an final destionation type of anime. I would rank this top 1 in 2012 so far in my eyes.

I liked the series for the most part. The plot had the similar feel of other curse centered stories at times but I think it put a great original spin on things. I honestly was more interested in Mei when I thought she might not be a living human being but I really didn't care for her character afterword. Can't really say why. Aside from her I liked all the characters banding together and trying to sort things out and survive the curse. In defense of the last two episodes, it was exciting to see the plot escalate so rapidly and see everything crumble into total chaos. Crazy stuff
