Not bad so far; Bodacious Space Pirates returning, Fate/Zero season two confirmed, and of the new stuff I found the Hiiro ni Kakera preview episode good enough to want to come back for more and I've been enjoying the Nyarko-san flash shorts so I'm definitely going to check out the full-length series.

My personal "please get this one, CR" wish list centers on Jormungand, with Dusk Maiden of Amnesia, Hyouka, Sankarea, and maybe Shining Hearts drawing my interest as well. On the other hand, while Queen's Blade: Rebellion might be interesting, the TV version of it will probably be one giant white-screen of censorship with subtitles over it.

So Cardfight Vanguard is indeed almost over? I strongly suspected as much when Beezlebub ended, that series looks like its on the way out too. Thank god for Bleach ending. I actually watch the english dub on Adult Swim so I still got a ways to go but there are series like Bleach that go on for way to long. I hope the manga ends soon and Tite Kubo goes on to something new ^_^.

Also why is Fate/Zero considered to be "continuing" its more like a new season as it didn't broadcast in Q1 2012 but whatever.

Not really. Cardfight!! Vanguard: Asia Circuit Hen begins on April 8, and could end up being listed as one of the new simulcasts.

So I assume the episode that airs tomorrow on CR is simply the last of the current series? Most anime that are "seasonal" only go on for one quarter then come back the next year. This seems unusual to me because Cardfight has been going on for more than a year, then it ends and a sucessor series starts back up only a few weeks after.

AncientOne what do you think are the chances CR will simulcast the successor series. They didn't air the second season of Milky Holmes because it had very low viewership. Cardfight is made by the same company but I do think it's a a lot more popular but I don't know what the views on each stream are.

Cause they were planning from the start on doing it in Fall & Spring, skipping Winter ~ so Crunchyroll obviously picked up the license for this half at the same time they picked up the license or the first half. The "continuing series" means continuing licenses for series, and "new series" means they had to sign a new license.

Digimon seems to work the same way ~ they decide to do a year or two, and then when its getting close to ending, they decide whether to do another right away or to wait a while.

Cardfight Vanguard is similar to Digimon in that neither have to depend heavily on sales of BD's and DVD's (at dizzyingly high prices) to a relatively small number of otaku, they both are more to promote the sales of some product. So if the card game publisher is happy with it and thinks another year (or two) will help sell enough cards to pay the bills, they hit the "greenlight" button.

I'm not TAO, so take this with a grain of salt ~ but the odds are pretty good. Crunchyroll bids on every show, but since NicoNico ended up with the second Milky Holmes, it seems that Crunchyroll got outbid for that one. If Cardfight Vanguard is more popular, then Crunchyroll can offer a bigger Minimum Guarantee, and they are less likely to be outbid.

Sheesh Gintama ended again lol.. its an obvious hiatus for the manga to create more material so hopefully back within 1.5-2 years. SKet Dance could be my fallback choice i guess for now

Agila61 or anyone else, for Fate Zero do you think they will get a simulcast or near simulcast for the second half? They were definitely at least a week behind (in that both free members and premium members saw each episode come at the same time on CR).

I'd think that's highly unlikely ~ if they listed it as a continuing license, then it would be the same license terms they already have, where the international simulcast is exclusive to Nico Nico Douga (NicoNico-Japan) for a week, and then Crunchyroll gets access.

As far as I recall, each episode is free in the first week it streams on Nico Nico Douga, so you can watch it there if you can't wait. Nico Nico Douga runs on free streaming the first week, members get access to older titles, and when Fate/Zero free streaming turns off is when it becomes available on Crunchyroll.

I was hoping that as part of launching the Latin American Crunchyroll site, maybe they had a chance to negotiate about expanding their regional rights. But I wouldn't expect the timing to change at all.

Over at Mania.com, Tratious posted about Space Brothers and Zetman:

YTV lists ZETMAN and Space Brothers.
Hello,

I'm pretty sure someone is gonna simulcast ZETMAN and Space Bros. YTV is listing both of them as having English subtitles available for license.

I'm thinking likely Crunchyroll, since if it was Funico doing the English subtitle, Funimation would have the inside track on the license. That's two of the top five series on my "check it out" list, so I've got my fingers crossed.

yeah...i wouldnt count on cr simulcasting zetman since viz seems to have at least bid for it since they mentioned the anime a couple times so dont get your hopes up if it isnt on here.

My thinking before hearing that Viz may be bidding for the rights:

(1) YTV put it out for bid with English subtitle rights, so the subtitling is not being done by TheAnimeNetwork ~ they get their series through Sentai, and they get series that Section23 is going to distribute, so if TheAnimeNetwork is doing the subtitles.

(2) I didn't mention it at mania.com, since Viki.com was not on the anime radar at the time, but I kind of doubt a Viki.com crowdsourced stream would be included as a selling point (a joint Viki.com/Crunchyroll.com deal would add professional English subtitles to the mix).

(3) Japanese nico.nico has listed 9 series, and Zetman is not on their list, so its less likely to be Japanese nico.nico subtitling it and streaming it in English as well as Japanese ~ and anyway, Crunchyroll has been getting series like that, though normally with a week delay.

So I'd put it at least 2:1 odds Crunchyroll has it, before hearing that Viz might be negotiating for it.

(4) If Viz is bidding for it, they are bidding for it after it got an English language streaming deal, since YTV put it out for bid with English subtitles included. And that makes it even less likely that its Funico. Plus Viz presently shares streaming rights with Crunchyroll in the ongoing Naruto and the just concluded/paused Bleach ... so the fact they are chasing the full rights doesn't really rule out Crunchyroll already having the streaming rights.

So I'd push it up to 3:1 odds that Crunchyroll has it, after hearing that Viz might be negotiating for it.

thing is though that viz usually simulcasts one new anime per season and they really dont have anything to simulcast this season besides zetman and i REALLY doubt they would go for kuroko and medaka box seems to go to anyone but them and besides those there isnt much to get. plus tiger and bunny did really well for them so they could market it toward that same crowd and they get most of katsuras stuff so theres that. as for the sentai and CR deal im really betting them on getting shining hearts as their main simulcast for the season and them sharing a simulcast for kuroko since both are MBS anime sankarea too is a maybe. what im really curious about is SS omega which may or may not be simulcasted here but im really hoping it is.
