Again, is the Saint Seiya Omega simulcast going to be an actual simulcast on a Saturday or will it be delayed? Though, I guess looking at the side and it's not even there, I'm assuming delayed? At least by how many days?

I figured that Funimation would have no interest in a home video release of Saint Seiya Omega. I was more thinking along the lines of them trying to use Funico to become the most important streaming site and thus they'd fight hard against Crunchyroll getting the so-called "AAA anime" (I am just using what someone said in this thread). I suppose if I was just looking at titles Funimation was looking to acquire for home video, then I would have seen it as either Crunchyroll or TheAnimeNetwork as the ones who I should have guessed landing it.

However, Latin America is full of fansubs and there is no control from licensor companies because there are not anime licensor companies for home releases in Latin America (except one or two that doesn't stop anime piracy and doesn't have too many licenses like Funimation or recent licenses for example).

Because of that, it's important that CR enters the region with great killer animes like SS Omega or Fate/Zero to get as many users as they can on that region. If CR only offers a few series of Spring 2012 to Latin American users, I think the effort to bring the spanish site will be futile because users on that region will simply prefer fansubs.

Latin America is a great region for Crunchyroll to take action, is full of anime fans and more anime fans users of CR means more money for the company and better anime licenses for all of us (just a thought).

Pretty much this. Since I read Crunchyroll was going to expand to Latin America this season, I was looking foward to see which shows would get simulticasted. So far it's very disappointing...

I mean, the situation in this region, in particular in my country Argentina is the following: There is currently only one tv channel that broadcast only 1 anime show per season, usually something licensed by Funimation 3 years ago like Darker Than Black or Baccano!. Regarding the DVD/BD market, there is absolutely no way of getting any anime show legally because nothing is edited in this format here, i've only seen a few DBZ movies edited and they didn't even have subs, only dub version.

On the other hand, there is a lot of anime fans here and their only way to watch some anime (new and old) subbed is trough fansubs, so having that in mind Crunchyroll's bet is quite good, but come on, so far it's not only Saint Seiya Omega (BTW, Saint Seiya it's like the most popular anime show here ever, even more than DBZ), I can't watch Uchuu Kyoudai or Hiiro no Kakera, the only decent thing available in this region is OZMA and it will be only 6 episodes long...

I agree with dago2682 that this is not a very good way to debut in this region.

Oh, by the way, excuse me for my bad english.

To those complaining about lack of availability for anime in x region, I'm sure CR would love to make every anime available to everyone, but the anime companies they get their licenses from might want to charge them too much, or maybe not allow them to do it at all for whatever reason. Also, the censorship laws in some areas could prevent them from showing it there as well.

In short, CR has little to no control over where they can show anime, it's not like they're just picking and choosing who can watch and who can't.

The thing is, an anime production committee is not going to license series to Crunchyroll an individual country at a time ~ "OK, a Mexican a Colombian and a Brazilian broadcaster is going to license this, so we can let you have it in the rest of Latin America".

The only individual market large enough for them to treat one at a time is Brazil. If any Spanish American country is negotiating for the rights, Crunchyroll is going to be locked out of all of Spanish America. And given that TV Azteca has basically shown every single release in this series, Crunchyroll is locked out.

But still, in Fall 2012, Spanish America got 4 out of 13 new licenses. In Winter 2012, Spanish America got 6 out of 11 (setting aside the short anime). So far its been 4 out of 7, and one of those 7 is a clear special case. That puts it on course for 8 out of 15 or better ..

... and 8 or more would be a bigger haul than Spanish America has every had in any season so far.

Sure it would be nice for it to be everything, but "more" has got to be better than "less", right?

It makes sense to me. Saint Seiya is a retro series that has a decent following, as for as I understand.
