I'm new, obviously, I joined the site, paid the money. $7 isn't much for unlimited viewing of anime, I use to get $12/week in allowance when I was a kid, had my own own bank account, easily could of figured out how to use paypal.

But the reason for this topic of discussion is, is it natural for kids, or people to start messaging you randomly without knowing you (I consider it spam), just to beg or bug for a guest pass? There's no way to block messages from any user, or have a block list of any kind when it comes to your inbox.

Is that just the invisible economy here? Free users see ads, free users spend time getting involved in the site and bug people for guest passes and the impressions on ads go up for Crunchyroll? Premium/Paying members get lots of attention, like a hiearchy of rich and poor.

You can do as you please, but if my nieces and nephews between 10 and 16 some of them, spent their time doing this, I would be like "You know, if you got up off your butt and helped your mom around the house, you could easily make this $7/mo for this site", but I know they hate being told this and will give you attitude, but they know and would find another method.

Is it because the new generation has succumbed to begging and listening to their friends that they do not have a mind of their own and cannot be productive? I made websites at their age, and $7 was nothing, even without allowance.
But that's another topic.

I guess the real question would be is, do you just ignore these people paying members, or do you just go all donating and throw guest passes on the most popular series in the comments?

There is.

If someone keeps asking you for a guest pass just block them.

Oh okay, thank you very much chrome, I had missed that some how, I guess the option to block not being in the actual viewing of the message illuded me.

Now for a method to block getting guest passes and the spam that goes with receiving them. I get three different notifications from getting them and I don't bother giving them out.

Not sure what you mean, like a method to opt-out of receiving guest passes, and some how to show that on their profile when they try to message you? "This user chooses not to receive guest passes"?

I don't think that would stop it completely, but it would definately help in the quantity of them.

Well, lifestyles differ. Some of the users here didn't and don't have allowances like others, even if they do help out with chores. An equivalent chore given to two different child through different households vary. But yes, it is applicable to understand why you would be bothered about it.

A purpose of guest pass is another way to advertise for those who aren't premium members. Because if they get the luxury of no ads and whatnot; it's a given experience; it is considerable that they would want to buy a membership.

If you are annoyed by it, really....leave something on your status and profile. Blocking will be your best friend in this matter. Go on vacation in your inbox. It ignores everything for you.

Not to argue with you, you do have a point on varying households, and I thought about it when I posted, and there is two sides to every argument, but not giving the tools to those annoyed by it, is the same as condoling it, is it not?

By tools I mean something other than your answer of "Going on vacation" and ignoring everything, the purpose of this site is to be social with those who enjoy the same medium as you, free or paid, you should have adequate tools to ignore spam from users who spend their time online leeching off others.

While that alone would be a very harsh description of all of them, which isn't my intention, just the bottom line. Because anyone willing to spend their time doing that could learn some HTML or PHP and make some money online doing some work for someone, even if it's just an hour or two randomly, it would easily pay for 3 months of an Anime subscription.

If not that, they could go out and cut the lawn of a neighbor for a student wage of 7.25 CAD /hr, or just $10 as a fee, lots of kids do this, are you saying everyone of these people are disabled and can't lift a finger? If that's the case they'd be getting some sort of disability money and their parents would willingly pay for it if they asked.

But like I said, varying arguments, but giving tools to those who pay not to be bothered, should be an option, not criticized.

Nothing is ever perfect, theres always someone who thinks they know better.. that's a generalism not an attack.

I do like how you said "really..." though, like I'm an idiot for being "annoyed", when I'm not, annoyed that is, being an idiot can be for anyone to decipher, when options for these sort of things are natural, in most websites of it's type. Asking, or rather, having a discussion about a sites features and what you'd like to see, or seeing what others have to say is a normal part of evolving your own intelligence.

Correct, this site is for socializing. However, the bottom line of it is your claim about the users who have given their attention to your premium. I had only suggested things that could avoid your annoyance. It's by choice that you take in what I suggest, not a force. And it's not that you technically ignore just because you are on vacation from inbox. Options are elastic, in the very least.

My denotation on "really" wasn't to make it sound like you were an idiot for being annoyed. I was just saying that you should consider doing something about it if you don't want any of the repertoire of users. That is where I came in with my gist. I mean, unless you want me to fathom you a different syntax.

Odd, I have a pile of guess passes and I've never been bothered by some random stranger begging for one of them.

I would love to "Opt Out" of receiving Guess Passes. They are an attempt by CrunchyRoll (CR) to enlist us in to spamming our friends for the benefit of CR. There is no benefit to us for doing their marketing gratis. We pay a monthly fee to work for them. Part of the "Praise Economy" where praise is the currency and the drug.

I gave away around 10 guest pass and I really don't see the point of paying $7 if you can easily get on.
