Grave of the Fireflies (Movie)

Comment: This is one of the timeless classics, you shouldn't miss. The focus was World War II. It's interesting how it's in the view of the Japanese. They apparently experienced the same thing as other countries did. The horrors at that time period was described in a such sad tone from the air raids to the rations, etc. Of course, this was shown back into 1988- heck, I wasn’t even born yet. So obviously, the animation and character sketch are not at par with the ones of today. Although that shouldn’t stop you from missing a rivevting portrayal of the war.

Brave 10

Comment / Review: Seemed alright until the ending of the series, then it pretty much turned sour, for me. Last four episodes made me stare with a poker face. Somewhat enjoyable and funny at times, but ehhh, this was not really my cup of tea.

Rating: 5 out of 10

Recommended: Maybe, if you have time to kill. Probably not one of the better anime involving the warring states period.

Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin

Comment: I found this gem randomly when I was at some other forum attacking some Bleach fans. This never crossed my mind at all, and I believe that was the first time I've heard of this anime. Anyway, Rainbow was amazing. I have never cried so much in an anime since Clannad ~After Story~. The animation was very good and the music was decent. What amazed me though, was how touching this was. I never expected this to be so tear jerking! I cried so many times.Truly a wonderful anime.

Name of Anime: Genesis of Aquarion

Comment / Review: Not too shabby imo. It is a bit similar to Neon Genesis Evangelion with the mecha, characters, and style. Still, I found the story to be compelling (even though most of it is episodic) where the protagonist went from a zero to hero. The most prominent relationship is between the main protagonist Apollo and the heroine Silva which I found interesting as the series progressed. The animation is alright although I didn't find it to stand out too much. Last but certainly is the soundtrack which was the best part of the series. Hell, I even enjoyed the OP song which I rarely skipped. Overall, my enjoyment of the series is just so-so. Nothing too extraordinary but also something of a little gem to keep an eye on.

I might also watch the current ongoing sequel: Aquarion EVOL

Summer Wars (Movie)

Comment: I don't know how to explain what kind of movie this was but it was definitely exhilarating. I was glued to the screen the whole time due to the suspense. A good incorporation of the previous works of Mamoru Hosoda.

Name of Anime: Pumpkin Scissors
Comment/Review: This was a typical post-war series that depicted people's trials and tribulations. I started the series with low expectations and I'm glad I did. The plot was stale and predictable. There also was little character development outside of 2 characters in the series. That's kind of bad considering the series is 24 eps. The ending also seemed rushed and unfinished.

Gin Tama

Comment / Review: Great comedy series, throwing blows of jokes from out of nowhere. The animation is great in battle scenes when the show and the animators get serious. Some people may see it as retarded gags, and they're right. You'd have to be a little stupid yourself to love this series.
Rating: 10 out of 10(For me being a fanboy of the series) 8.5 out of 10(for an actual score)

Name of Anime: Okami-san and Her Seven Companions

Comment/Review: I've put off watching this anime for a while because I've been so busy with school. But now that I had a few days of free time, I just did a marathon of all 12 episodes. Overall, it was an average anime, the best thing I liked in my opinion was the art style of the characters. But there were some annoyances I had with the show. One of them was the background narration that just pops in and interrupts whatever the characters are saying, making it hard to hear because you have to listen to conflicting conversations simultaneously every episode. Another annoyance I had was that even at the end of the anime, the major conflict of the plot was left open and unresolved. It was like the writers of the show just gave up on the main plot in episode 11. They could have tied up the loose ends if they did use episode 12 for the main plot, but episode 12 had a totally unrelated story.

Rating: IMO I will give it a 7 but I should give it a 6 (I only give it a 7 because I liked the art style)

Recommended: Some people will not like that it remains unresolved but if you haven't watched it yet, just watch it, its only 12 episodes. There are some good moments in the show.

Name of Anime: Wolf's Rain

Comment / Review: Well, I was looking for an unique and original anime to watch on the weekends and I think I found one. That would be Wolf's Rain. Studio Bones does a great job with the artwork and the amazing soundtrack that is almost unforgettable. Even the OP song was very appealing. As for voice acting, they're just average imo. I actually watched in dubbed so I might watched the subbed version again to compare to two to see if there are any differences. One of the most important part of this anime is the appealing characters of vary stark personalities. With that a complex fantasy world in a dystopian like setting, we got ourselves an interesting and unique anime. I guess if you've watched Ergo Proxy before, you might get a general idea of the series. Overall, my enjoyment of the series was great and definitely considering re-watching and watching the OVA.

Great quality work and a tale of fantasy.

Rating: 8 out of 10

Recommended: Yes. (might even give OVA a shot tbh)
