Name of Anime: Steins;Gate
Comment / Review: Very interesting concept of time travel and the consequences of changing the past. While many of the side characters were nothing more than certain archetypes with little development, they were still interesting in the story. Gotta love the antics of Okabe and his relationships with both Kurisu and Mayuri. Kurisu has become one of my more favorite female anime heroines and, as a side note, you gotta love YouTube for having a ton of remixed videos of scenes of mostly Kurisu and Mayuri in hilarious fashion. A lot of good plot twists and interesting story developments that is only slightly held back by the slow first half of the series. The second half TOTALLY makes up for it with its sudden dark twists and the tension is held every step of the way. All in all, you should see this anime. It may not be the "super-ultra-best-anime-evar" but its fun to watch and gives Back to the Future a run for its money for best time travel story. Rating: 9 out of 10 Recommended: Yes |

Name of Anime: School Days
Comment / Review: Rather disturbing and sad story. I felt extremely bad for Katsura the entire time. To me, it truly showed some of the worst traits in humans. Long story short, it was not anything close to what I had thought the story would be about and it was by far my least favorite anime I have ever viewed. I didn't even want to finish it a little over half way though but fought through it anyways. Rating: 3 out of 10 Recommended: No |

Name of Anime: Blue Exorcist
Comment/Review: It was spectacular. I loved it. Its now one of my favorites. Its about these twin boys that turn out to be the son of satan and they're exorcists XD Rin inherits satans powers and he is a great character. I fell in love with him immediately, although he is a dumbass lol Rating: 10/10 Recommended: Most definitely |

I really finished both of these within the same hour, so it's only fair I list both...
Rinne no Lagrange Comment / Review : A mecha anime that focuses around three female pilots of three legendary robots known as voids, and the unexpected friendship between the three that results. The story is a bit lacking at times, but the main characters are actually surprisingly deep and full of personality, and the action is very well done. Rating : 8.5 / 10 Recommended : Yes! A fun watch from beginning to end. I've also heard a second season is in the works. I also watched... Usagi Drop Comment / Review : A 30-year-old single man takes in and raises his 6-year-old aunt, or rather, his grandfather's illegitimate child. This is the best slice of life anime I've ever seen. It's pure, heartwarming, and something that's very easy to relate to: No fanservice, no Gundams, no ho-hum high school drama here. I walked away from Usagi Drop wanting to become a better person; I have a feeling you will also. Rating: 10 / 10 Recommended : Yes, without a doubt. BUT... I recommend only watching the anime. If you do read the manga, just read the first 4 volumes... The writer goes off the deep end and turns a wonderful story of parenthood into a very wacky, redundant, and off-the-wall mess later on in the series. |

Hotarubi no Mori e (Movie) Comment: From the manga-ka of Natsume Yuujinchou, Yuki Midorikawa spins another beautiful youkai tale. In this short 44-minute movie, she has made Gin and Hotaru so memorable in my heart. The story is about a youkai who can't touch humans or else he'll disappear. It's very poignant as it shares the passage of time and what comes along with it. The ending Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide just hit me in the gut. I was so sad even I knew it was bound to happen. I replayed that scene over and over again. Wahhh, just watch it so you can understand what I mean. Rating: 10/10 Recommended? Yes, especially if you're a Natsume Yuujinchou fan! |

Can I ask where you guys watch such nice anime titles that aren't available here? Hard to find a decent site for this, as much as I love Crunchyroll and am actually a full premium member I don't get certain titles in Australia

Chihayafuru...Anime made me want to watch more anime. It was beautifully animated, great development with characters, and you got to know each character personally whether the lead or opponent. I hope they make a second season, if not, well I'll just have to be patient for manga

Barefoot Gen
Comment: A realistic and graphic depiction of the effects the atomic bomb dropping on Hiroshima had on Japanese civilians seen through the perspective of a young boy. The movie has its rough elements like some inconsistent mood and overly dramatic moments, but is otherwise a solid watch for a historical anime. Rating: 7.5 of 10 Recommended: Yes, if you are interested in anime based on real-life events in Japanese history. |
