Sankrea

Totally not what I was expecting -- but in a good way! When I first read the description, I thought it was going to be more of a horror show -- then someone told me that the manga was more of an ecchi RomCom, so my hopes for it plummeted. But I decided to watch it anyway. Right at the first episode, I was hooked.

Sankarea has a very eerie feel to it. It places a lot of emphasis, it seems, on the real gap between the living and the dead. The comedy is played lightly, and there are some ecchi-like moments, but you're always reminded that Rea is, in fact, dead -- it hangs over the show like an unforgiving shadow, giving it an overall creepy, dark, black humor feel. It also adds a lot of depth to the characters themselves. I found the main "couple", Chihiro and Rea, to actually be very likable. Their personalities, if implemented in any other show or situation, would be hardly memorable -- but the unique plot of this story really lets them shine. Chihiro's zombie fetish contrasted with his sweet, caring nature around Rea makes for quite an interesting character -- he doesn't automatically take advantage of her, he actually cares for her and shows concern for her being a zombie, despite his fantasies of wanting to be with a zombie girl. Rea's personality on its own is nothing especially notable, but it's her past -- and, particularly, the way the anime presents it -- that makes her memorable and relatable. She is very easy to empathize with and it's hard not to feel some sympathy for her.

Sankarea does a wonderful job of mixing some comedy into an otherwise dark, depressing show, giving it a lighter feel that makes it easier to watch without getting too upset about the character's plights. When you really look into it, though, past the bits of comedy, the show is actually quite sad. It's a very interesting viewing experience and I loved it to pieces.

9.5/10

Recommended? Yes, definitely! A must-watch! Especially for those who like some depth to their RomComs!

Dusk Maiden of Amnesia

Comment/Review: One of my top anime picks of this season!! The premise is a mystery concerning a ghost girl said to haunt the old school wing as well as the relationship she develops with the living main character. Animation is very reminiscent of other works done by Shaft studios, mostly due to the fact that the director was previously an assistant director to another director at Shaft. So you can expect some nice stylizing in the background as well as transitions. The characters are very well done, revolving around Yuuko (the ghost girl) and Niiya (the living student) as well as a few other main cast members. There is a good combination of mystery, supernatural, comedy, and romance so it can appeal to a wide audience. This was a very good anime from start till finish

I adore this anime very much!

Would be awesome if season 2 is in the making, but seeing how it ended, can't really see why to revisit.

I re-watched the entirety of Neon Genesis Evangelion TV Series + The End of Evangelion + 1.11 You are (Not) Alone + 2.22 You can (Not) Advance.

Took about 10 days free time to do and was WELL worth every minute.

Name of Anime: Kanon (2006 version)
Comment / Review: Very beautiful anime! It may seem like a reverse harem, but its more like a comedy/tragedy kind of theme. So many shocking moments, and since it was made by Key I just has to watch it. Lots of tragedy in here, but it can be balanced out with the different kinds comedy that they throw in.

Name of Anime: Fight! Iczer One!
Comment / Review: So basically this was your typical 80's shock-horror anime with lots of mecha and fanservice. Despite that, this anime was a pretty interesting watch. It basically focuses on how an average high school girl is chosen to fight along side Iczer-1 against the Cthulus. There's a lot of yuri and violence in this, so if you're against that, I wouldn't advise you to watch this.

Name of Anime: Sankarea

Comment / Review: A zombie comedy with a touch of ecchi and little romance. The plot isn't too deep, but it really doesn't try to be. Mainly focuses on comedy. Characters are lovable as well.

Hetalia (( About Fourth season))
As usual, it's very random and funny once you get past few stereotypes. It's has the shortest episodes and slightly (or more) shonan-ai to it.
About 7 out of 10. Yes, I would recommended it, it can be addicting.

The one I just finished was Kuroshitsuji. It was okay... not that bad.................... kinda sucked in some ways since it was pretty short. No twists to the story, really... so I'd give it like a 6.../10 ?
