I was really really loving this anime. But it's like it has hit a brick wall or something. I know that ultimately the goal is for both brothers to go and have adventures on Mars. But at this rate I am questioning whether it will ever happen.

I love anime that are long and clip along at a leisurely pace way more than most people. But this is getting to be way too much :P

Also the more time they spend in the anime in the US with all those Texans speaking Japanese, the more I'm sort of losing interest as well. It's just too distracting.

ROFL!!! That's one point I've had a laugh with since the early episodes. It would make a nice international flavor if the characters really spoke the language that is relevant to the situations. Like, do the Japanese speak Japanese amongst themselves with the American trainers around? A few of the facial expressions of confusion/curiosity on them would seem more believable; like when they stoped for Nitta to go back for the phone, or the rattlesnake incident.

I hate to do it, but I think I might end up dropping this anime. This last episode may have been even more painfully boring than the one before it.

I'll give it a few more episodes to redeem itself, since it's been so good in the past. But man this NASA training arc has been deadly dull to me.

I bet Team E will end up being the last until the end of this exercise. However, I don't think the rankings will matter much in terms of being better astronauts. In any case, Hibito is coming back soon since last episode announced Azuma is going to replace him.
I'm looking forward to seeing the Namba and Nitta brothers together in a social meeting or something.

Yeah, this show has never been fast-paced, but this is ridiculous. The content of the first half of episode 51 could have been covered during conversations in the earlier episode. I mean did we really learn all that much new about Nitta's brother/their relationship in this one? No we did not. And then we could have had
at the beginning of episode 51, and then it would be the next morning and out of the desert... Please, please, get them out of the desert.

Also, Nitta could have at least

I love you Space Brothers, but you are starting to annoy me.

Honestly, I have barely watched the last three episodes. How sad is it to drop a show after 48 episodes? But that is pretty much what I've done... Searching for a cell phone, yeah... good thing he called so the light would flash...

This is why two cour, even one cour shows can be for the best. No time for silliness such as this.

what I usually do when an anime slow down the pace too much , I dont watch it weekly , so I might have to do that for Space Brothers too.

Since I really like the series , I just cant stand it when it slows down too much and prolong the story. I do this regularly with long anime like Naruto, Fairy Tail and at times Gintama when they do arcs.

I LOVE this anime. I really don't want it to end anytime soon. I really love how well researched it is. I haven't see anything wrong, yet, and the sci-fi parts feel so real.

As far as the latest episodes go, does anyone else think the Nitta family has good looking men in it?

I don't actually mind the slow pace, but I'm used to slow shows as well as ones with a bajillion episodes of filler, so that's probably why. Do you think the pace has to do with not wanting to overtake the manga or is it unrelated?

I am not sure why this pacing, the manga is way beyond the training part .

I can only speculate that since this anime is really doing well in the ratings and has a lot of positive feedback and especially that it is promoting JAXA that the production company decided to do that. To make it real as much as possible including its pacing lol.

I think all of us here love this anime and its characters, and the adaptation is really well done .

I'm fine with the pace too. I don't think it feels any slower now than it has done in previous story arcs. I think you need to be under the anime's spell and really be immersed in what's going on to enjoy Space Brothers. There have been times when I haven't been under the spell and have just wanted the series to move on ASAP. And then there have been times, like now, where I've been completely enthralled, not caring how long it carries on for. Either way, I think the series needs to be this slow. It needs to sustain the image that we're following Mutta on this incredible journey to the stars, and I feel like if it was much faster paced, the obstacles would seem too easy, and the payoff too immediate or undeserved.

Episode 52.

Still in the desert.

Time spent revisiting earliest episodes slightly boring for those who have been watching right along, but not totally so, since it's been a while. I can definitely see the utility of doing this at the beginning of a season for the benefit of those who may just be starting to watch the series now. And this kind of explains why they dragged things out so much over the last two episodes--probably in order to place this one specifically at the beginning of Spring season.

Episode 53. Hibito's recap episode. Still on the moon.

Even though the events recapped were more exciting in some ways than those recapped last week, I was more bored because they'd happened more recently and in short recap clips you couldn't really capture the feeling of when we originally saw them taking place. So, only thing of any interest was Buddy's butt.

With so much new anime to be watching this weekend though, I can't complain much. Still looking forward to the continuing Space Brothers story.
