Episode 37
I thought I was going to die waiting to hear Mutta's result. Damm I almost cried. After watching SAO 24 and this back to back, my heart couldnt handle it anymore. I guess they will end this with the press conference and stuff. Going towards a new beginging as astronauts. What a wonderfull ride it has been . I guess I will look forward for the manga ,to find out their new adventure. |

All this time, and I just now found the Space Brothers thread! OI!
I too would like to see this series continued, at least as long as the writing keeps up it's current level of creativity. I know there's alot of manga out there; I havn't seen it yet, maybe I'll find that too. "HI" to all you other fans! :) MCK |

Yeah this thread does get burried a lot . Anyway,I have seen the manga at the Japanese bookstore and its goes further already so I still hope it continues. |

Loved this episode. Mutta's reactions were great to watch. I wonder if the bandage fad will catch on? lol
Imo, this thread tends to get buried since the show is hard to talk about, but very easy to enjoy. |

indeed
I really love rewatching the park scene .The animation department really tried hard to show the mounting emotions inside of him thru his facial expressions and body movements. And even though Hirata san doesn't have a lot of lines there but it was probably one of the hardest lines to deliver, to really make it sound so real to the emotions of the moment .So Everytime I watch that scene , I have this feeling of increasing joy inside of me that I almost cry with Mutta. And I know its just an anime but this one is special. The seiyuu do have the images in front of them when they record their lines but that is only part of the process. I do enjoy Hirata's work as Mutta a lot. So much depth in the character . |

Haha, I just now found the Space Brothers thread as well...It probably gets buried because 1) "it's hard to talk about but easy to enjoy" and 2) because it's not the most popular series here on CR (even though it's a wonderful show and one of my personal favorites).
As for the latest episode, I had a hard time getting through that emotional park scene without smiling (in fact I epically failed, I smiled throughout the entire scene). His emotions were overwhelming. Everybody has had that moment when you honestly don't know how to feel (from being in disbelief/ overly happy), and I think everyone can relate to how he felt at that particular moment. His facial expressions did a clear job of interpreting how he felt. He was befuddled, but happy at the same time. He wanted to cry from joy, but tried to maintain his composure...and that's where the mix of facial expressions and emotions just came together in harmony. I think it was because we've been on this long journey with him, throughout 37 episodes we know what has happened to him until now, from his "unlucky" birth, to getting fired from his job, to taking the exams and making friends. We've been on this Journey WITH him as opposed to watching him. I don't think there's a more relateable character in anime, I really don't. He's realistic and human, nothing special about him (except his memorization skills)...just your average Joe reaching for his dream and accomplishing it. Very impressed with the show. Now I know we'll get through the rest of the episodes (I think there's 10-11 more) which will end the story. What a great adventure. I didn't know this would become one of my favorite anime in the last 4-5 years. |

and when his Mom was singing that song , I actually said the same things as he did
and then when he answered the phone "Wa Shoi!! " , I just burst into laughter more in that scene. I just love those moments. This anime is very close to my heart and is indeed my all time favorite ,its becoming a very memorable anime . Episode 38 The Press Conference. I like how we went back to when they picked up Mutta . If I were in Mutta's team , I would feel the same as Furuda san and would be happy as well. So episode 39 the last one? Or is it going beyond that. |

It is listed as a winter simulcast. Still haven't seen a final number listed. Good show but the pace is still slow. Good thing it has a lot of episodes... |

indeed ...
the pacing of this anime is different from the rest of the anime shows out there and I think that is one factor that discaurage other viwers like some of my friends in my anime meet-up club from sticking with this anime except for those who watches this anime at 7am Sunday in the Kanto region |

Not much to add about regarding thoughts on the series and characters. I tend to stupidly smile my way through most episodes.
Revisting the park scene was cool, but they left out my favorite part with the bicycle. I thought that was priceless! I like the slower pace myself. Easier for me read all the subs. Alot of other anime, I have to keep pausing my way through it to read it all. I've always been a space nerd, had season passes to the Kennedy Space Center too. It's a place Iliked to go when I felt my attitude about the world getting to cynical. With the shuttle program gone now, Space-X is looking like the way forward in Space Exploration, at least until our NASA gets a clear vision and drive about what to do, and where to go. I'd like to see more of this kind of story telling in mainstream media. Most science fiction seems to center on futures of doom and gloom based on the worst aspects of human nature. Having this anime is like my weekly shot in the arm for postive thinking about the future of space, as well as an idealistic sense of people displaying the best of humanity's character and engineering skills for a common purpose.
