O.k everyone, my classmates and I are getting our questions ready. When we're ready to interview you all, we'll send you all our questions, and you all can respond to them at your convenience.

O.k everyone, here are the questions...

1. What made you interested in Crunchyroll?

2. Have you been a member of the community for long?

3. Tell us some facts about yourself. Age, gender, etc.

4. Are you an active member of Crunchyroll?

5. Does the communication on Crunchyroll seem polite?

6. Do you have a lot of friends in the community?

7. Will you stay a member for a while?

1. Your mother.

2. Since I was born 3 days ago.

3. I'm 72, female, I live in Uganda and I am currently co-leading the Lord's Resistance Army.

4. Fuck off.

5. No, they're all arseholes here.

6. Yes, I'm super duper popular despite my massive vagina.

7. Well i dunno, I gotta find a good preschool to go to first, I don't know how much time I'll have on my hands with that starting soon.

I like fresh, young meat.

2. Have you been a member of the community for long?

I am still watching anime, how dare you.

3. Tell us some facts about yourself. Age, gender, etc.

40, male (to sidetrack my curiosity), on going.

4. Are you an active member of Crunchyroll?

No, I am only online every day.

5. Does the communication on Crunchyroll seem polite?

Yes, now fuck them all.

6. Do you have a lot of friends in the community?

Yes, and I molest them all.

7. Will you stay a member for a while?

No because I can only live for this long.

Glad everyone is taking this so seriously XD

I think it is some kind of practical joke though anyway

It is most definitely not a practical joke. I'm one of his classmates. We're doing a digital ethnography project on this online community. If you guys could cooperate and take this a little more seriously, that would be most appreciated.

I'm no expert at all on online sociology, but a slow chimp could have predicted the sorts of responses received so far.

To mark2345, InAmerica, and anyone else engaging in this study (and I'm going to assume for the moment that you all are serious about this): You might get more serious responses if you shared a bit more about what your study is about. What background observations prompted your study? What questions are you asking (not talking about the interview questions, but what are you trying to investigate with this study)? Or to use scientific terms, what are your hypotheses? While you'll never be able to completely avoid the trolls in a forum like this, you might find some genuinely helpful people who'll be willing subjects, but they'll want to know they're being a part of something legitimate and at least potentially beneficial to the human endeavor, and not be manipulated or be involved in something-- for lack of a better word-- half-assed. The words "digital ethnography" is the first and only thing I've seen so far even approaching an explanation of what's going on. And on that note-- use words others can understand. Academia (where I lived my previous life) is great for snowing people and obfuscating with "big words" no one else except someone in your particular field understands. The social sciences may well be better at that than even the natural sciences! However, if you want people to be interested in what you're doing, or at least not tune you out after the first 10 seconds, you'll need to avoid jargon and explain in plain terms.

1. Legal Anime

2. No

3. I'm 21, I am a male ( I think ) I love chocolate, but in this town you have to.

4. Not really, I'm trying to be more active when I can tho.

5. Yes, very polite, a little weird, and there are some harsh people. However in general I would say it is one of the better Internet communities.

6. No, but that is mostly because I'm new and haven't been super active.

7. Probably

Can I ask you a question too? Make it 2.

Did you really need time and more than one head to come up with those questions?
