Preview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTqww3yzPTU Synopsis: The story starts off with a face-off between two rival heroes, ZET and ALPHAS, and then traces their origins - Jin Kanzaki, a young man with the ability to transform into a superhuman being known as ZET, and Kouga Amagi, a young man with a strong sense of justice who uses technology to fight as ALPHAS. The fates of these two men and those around them intertwine as they fight to protect mankind and destroy monstrous abominations known as Players, who ironically are the creations of the Amagi Corporation, the company founded by Kouga’s grandfather, Mitsugai Amagi. Characters & Voice Actors Jin "ZET" Kanzaki Voiced by: Daisuke Namikawa The main protagonist. A mysterious young man bearing a circular lump on the back of his left hand, Jin was a result of the Z.E.T. Project by the Amagi Corporation to create the perfect being to fight and destroy the escaped Players. Kouga Amagi Voiced by: Mamoru Miyano Grandson of Mitsugai Amagi. Kouga has developed a strong sense of justice since young. Urged by his encounter with Jin during a fire accident (caused by a Player) to become a hero of justice. Konoha Amagi Voiced by: Kana Hanazawa A girl who has known Jin since they were children and harbors feelings for him. As daughter to Amagi Corp's president (Kouga's sister), she is unaware of the fact that Jin is Zet. Hanako Tanaka Voiced by: Mariya Ise A tomboyish teenage girl. She has had constant headaches since she was born, leading her to go to the nurse's office quite often as a result. Because of this, students thought she was just slacking off, and was bullied by them, leaving her traumatized and unwilling to go to high school. Other Information Type: TV Episodes: 13 (for the Spring Season) Producers: TMS Entertainment Genres: Action, Drama, Horror, Romance, Sci-Fi, Supernatural, Seinen Opening & Ending "dots and lines" by You Hitoto feat. Mummy-D "Tomeru (とめる)" by You Hitoto First Impressions? Interesting start with violence and action involved. There's also some fan-service although don't take it the wrong way as it does not lean toward the usual cliches. The artwork doing the fight scene were a bit cheesy imo and some of the blood/gore was censored. (at least when I watched it) There is also some comedy in it involving our MC. Unfortunately, Jin is a bit clueless about the real world and asks "why is everybody's sleeping weird?" when in reality, they're dead. Anyways, I have a great impression on this first episode with its well executed emotional/dramatic sequence and I'm expecting great things from this series. |

An okay first episode I suppose. Kinda sad that it looks like their going for a compressed adaption. Well hopefully they won't mess with the central themes too much doing it this way. Fight scenes look like they'll be pretty impressive at least.
I do hope this will do well enough that Viz'll bring over the manga though. That would pretty awesome @Stark I heard you said this was split cour? Out of curiosity where did you hear this? |

I'm pretty sure there will be a split as the series has only 13 episodes to air this season and the manga covers quite a lot of chapters, more than enough for a single season. I will try to look for the source again soon and get back to this. Edit: The news I saw related to the announcement of a 2nd part was actually regarding to Jormungand. It was decent! The art style and animation is good, I didn't care much for young Jin (his character seems all too familiar) but it looks like that's the last we've seen of him, so I'll check out the next episode and see where the plot goes. I'm guessing it will involve those other creatures that escaped at the beginning (along with Jin and his Grandfather)

I enjoyed the first episode except I felt the pace was a bit too slow. It was still interesting though. The art is different from the typical anime art and feels like something out of an American comic or late night cartoon. The most relevant anime to compare this to is Tiger & Bunny but even then there are many differences between the two, but their art are distinctively the same. The first few action scenes were well choreographed and were pleasant to watch.
I'm not a big fan of the music even though all we got so far was the ED and some background music. The story seems really cliched but its exposition didn't make it so bad. It was pleasant to watch nonetheless but you'll be predicting it a lot. |

Just finished the first ep. I'll have to watch a couple more before I make any decisions. But I agree with @AsuraCryin about the different art style and the funky music during the ending credits.

This was good for a first episode. It was mostly setup and world building, which I enjoyed. But I agree, there were a lot of cliches. I guess we'll get a time skip in the next episode and things will progress from there. I also agree about the ED.

Rather nice looking animation but the direction was terrible and it felt way too rushed... I haven't read the manga but I'm guessing it covered over 10 chapters of material, can anyone confirm?

Still I agree the pacing was a bit ridiculous. Again I;m personally just hoping the anime leads to a stateside release of the manga. |

I really enjoyed the "Why are people sleeping weird?" part Spoilers for episode one why + generally how I feel about the anime
Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide If the baby was taken away to be raised in seclusion away from the world he may not have a clear understanding of many complex circumstances. For EX: what is hope? It is a simple question with a complex answer but instead of trying to explain it they just showed Jin's caretaker still alive which I found very touching. I hope there is more of those simple philosophical questions throughout the anime. Also, there seems to be a complex caste system or at least a higher degree of social stratification going on in the anime. I haven't read the manga so obviously I do not know. Predictions follow. The interplay of the rival characters is going to be interesting (I think) with one using more of a logical pragmatic approach to Justice and the other one using his heart. I think it will be reminiscent of Zero and his counterpart (terrible with names) in Code Geass. Both fighting for the same thing but in wholly different ways. I could be terribly terribly wrong but it is fun to conjecture I personally thought the animation was very well done and the "monsters" seemed interesting and well thought out. The only big cliche I see is the skinny guy saying "grow up well" and then deceiving the others of his kind about that knowledge. I am sure there are others but this anime seems to have depth. I have heard the manga "loses it's way" but until I see it I am going to stick around. I actually would not have minded more "set-up" and "world-building" but the characters are strong enough and interesting enough that that flaw was "on the back burner" so to speak. Thanks for the thread Stark .. that had been in my head all day |

I enjoyed watching the first episode. I honestly can't wait to see what happens next. I'm really loving Jin being an outcast and not knowing exactly what's happening.
