Synopsis




Medaka Kurokami
Voiced by: Aki Toyosaki
Medaka is an incredibly beautiful and talented first year student. She became Hakoniwa Academy's Student President as she managed to get 98% of the student body's support. One of her pledges during her campaign was to set up a suggestion box (which later became known as the Medaka Box), along with her childhood friend Zenkichi, goes out to solve any and all problems that comes through.

Zenkichi Hitoyoshi
Voiced by: Yūki Ono
The male protagonist, childhood friend of Medaka, and the Student Council General Affairs Manager, reluctantly joining for the sake of protecting Medaka.

Kouki Akune
Voiced by: Daisuke Namikawa
The Student Council Secretary and the oldest member of the Student Council, as he is a second year while Medaka, Zenkichi, and Kikaijima are in the first year. Originally part of the judo club, Akune has been infatuated with Medaka since middle school and hates Zenkichi for being able to spend so much time with her.

Voiced by: Ai Kayano
The Student Council Treasurer.

i lost interest...

This is the show people keep begging for? Eh, it looks mediocre. It sounds boring, too.

I love how people that never read the manga thinks this is just an slice-and-life or something like Sket Dance.

It's gonna be awesome if the anime reaches an certain part, it will surprise everyone. It will be fun xD

Not too bad. This looks like it'll be a pretty faitful adaption of the source material and a couple of images showing THAT character in the opening are proof

A word of warning though. Anyone watching this series expecting a romantic comedy....you may want to leave now.

Medeka Box is one of those series that starts one way and turns into something else.

For those who don't know from reading the Manga, this is a Battle series.

a brutal fight to the death, over a pit of poisonous snakes, Battle Manga.

This will initially turn off alot of people, whooo boy, can't wait til the kicker comes in, this series is something else and a half.

well guess its to be expected since Oshinshin is involved

Other than that this anime seems really average. I've heard people say that Medaka Box is like the second coming of Christ but I can only so far I'm really dissapointed. And this whole thing turning into a battle shounen probably won't help either...

Anyone read the manga? Does it actually get good with real plot rather than PLOT.

I thought the same damn thing but eh it was pretty fun to watch i can't speak for the whole PLOT thing however....

The show is bit different.. i mean it has the same tropes/cliches but it's not unwatchable like most and it's nice to see chance for child hood friends having a chance for a relation ship this time around.. also a male tsundere is different as well.

Once the story really picks up, it's hard to stop becoming enthralled by it, but I will admit the beginning is a little slow and might lose some people. I was turned on to the manga a year or so ago by a friend of mine who actually explained the story in a completely different manner than the synopsis does, because he explained what the story becomes as opposed to how it starts.

Like people have been saying, this is not a slice of life, romantic comedy. Though it definitely starts out looking that way, it quickly changes into one of the most epic battle mangas out there. It's also full of some really interesting characters with really strange powers and keeps you guessing most of the time. The beginning it slow because its about setting up the Student Council - its about Medaka surrounding herself with the people she - essentially - deems worthy to help her help others. Once the student council is established [mostly] the action starts, and it doesn't stop for a long time. >_>

Plus Gainax. This is reason two I am stoked for the anime.

Really, everyone should check it out. As the old saying goes, don't judge a book by its cover. This one will surprise you.

That guy sure looks and sounds excalty like Kamina. Kamina and Oga from Beelzebub share the same Seiyuu and when he yelled it sounded like Oga yelling.

Medaka Box is a Media Factory anime, which gives Funico the edge. Probably the only way CR had a chance at it is if Sentai licensed it and CR had a co-op deal with them (in which case the announcement and possibly the simulcast itself might be delayed).

Hopefully Funico will announce their simulcasts this weekend at one of the anime conventions, and we'll know which simulcasts CR can't get.
