Medaka Box Discussions (Season 1 & 2)

The plot itself is interesting. But the way it progresses its too boring. Lost interest for both the manga and the anime.

(Or at least a season 3, I want Kumagawa damn it) or run it as a 24/26 with a bit of filler. ~~~ In general the show positively surprised me (as in surprised me in a good way). Some of the characters are just really really engaging (notably the male lead whose name I've forgotten all of a sudden and Shiranui) |

Alas Shiranui doesn't show up a lot in the Flask Plan arc but She is pretty crucial to the Minus arc though. She is a very interesting personality and the relationship between her and Zenkichi is really fun
I don't know how much of the series we are going to get animated but I do hope we get to one of Shiranui's best moments. Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide |

Most of the series made me sit there and think to myself "I'd rather be watching Sket Dance at the moment then this" but once it hit the last few episodes after Unzen shows up that is where my interest in the series started.
Also I really hate Medaka as a character... |

Also I really hate Medaka as a character... See I think I'm the reverse of most anime fans. The quirky/weird episodes really grabbed me, and the fighting episodes I found kind of 'bleh' (although I admit it got better when I got used to them). Even this early, the show has a fairly unique POV that's nice to see. |

They weren't completely bad or anything since I did enjoy a few of the stories that they brought since some of them were just so over the top and funny but while I was watching it I just couldn't help myself but think that Sket Dance does a better job lol it's a bit un fair to the series but I just couldn't help it. |

Even this early, the show has a fairly unique POV that's nice to see. That weird POV is probably one of the things I like best about the series. The manga evolved into an extreme take on the typical Battle Manga and then playing with all the typical rules that define a Battle Manga, turning a few of them inside out and sometimes walking right up to the 4th wall and often breaking it flat out. Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide One of Medaka's best enemies flat out refused to actually fight her on the grounds that Medaka would win because she is the Main Character. Pretty much decided to put her evil plans on hold for 3 years until Medaka graduates and then start over. (Though at one point she dose drop a note in the suggestion box asking what would be a good way to defeat Medaka. and true to form Medaka took the request seriously and devised a plan. Which the enemy rejected because it would take too much effort and she was trying to avoid that.) One of the most recent chapters had one character describe the series as Surreal Gag Humor and that pretty much nails it Surreal Battle Gag Humor Manga. |

She's barely a character at all, mainly a force for the Student Council to bounce off of. Zenkichi is the main character, imo, and not just the POV ala Lucy in Fairy tale. |

Medaka Box Season 2 - Episode 1 Yes, the series is back! That new girl with the iron chain balls speaks in a weird way tbh..is there a pattern to her speech? Anyways, nice episode and a lot of action. Also, that ending....the fate encounter. |

Anyways, nice episode and a lot of action. Also, that ending....the fate encounter. She is described as being such a major nonconformist that she created her own language using only numbers. Only her little brother and Medaka have ever been able to translate it. personally I really like the character but she doesn't show up a lot. Basically she is used as an example of what the typical member of class 13 is like. |

Does the language itself actually makes sense though when the author wrote it or is it just some random language that is just there for a gimmick? I sort of liked her character as well and I guess this is just a little taste of what's to come |
